In the carnival games where you can score some big hits like 4 of a kind in LIR, do you toss a few chips to the other players when you hit the elusive ones? I don't mean envy bonuses which the house pays but some of your winnings.

No. Those games can be very volatile. I see so many players not even tip the dealers, let alone the other players. Not a 4 OAK, but I probably would with a straight flush or royal on the 5 cards.

I've only tipped another player at the crap table...and would do it again if any shooter did what the ones I tipped did!

I placed a bet for the shooter.
Essentially a 3 way on the hardway after which a 7 appeared and the pit boss said i shouldnt press the shooter.
Not sure what he meant as it was a no lose situation but since then i haven't made any bets for the shooter.

If I hit a true jackpot hand I might....would have to be a hand where I won thousands.

The table vibe would matter a lot too. I would probably only do it if the same people had been there for awhile and everyone was being social and cheering each other's wins, etc.

No way. I figure if it's a big enough jackpot then there's usually some sort of Envy bonus for everyone at the table like you mentioned and that should take care of it.

If I'm in Vegas I would get everybody a round of drinks though :p

Tipping a shooter is way different, they just made you money. Everyone else sitting at a table game had nothing to do with it.

Agreed, I have made 3 way hardway bets in craps for a hot shooter that has made me money. I don't think I have ever tipped a shooter outright though.

I have never tipped another player on a large win, but I have given a player a five dollar chip to back up his bet in a carnival game. I also have given a player a dollar chip to tip the CW if it is not convenient for the dealer to give change at that stage of the game.

I have heard of this but I do not understand the thought process, why would I share money I won with people just because we shared a table for a while. I cna understand a round of drinks (our local can not give drinks away.)
A couple of months ago my wife hit a big hand on a sucker bet for like $1500 and gave some money to our two daughter-in-laws and another person freaked out that she was not given any and kept on about it. It got so uncomfortable for my wife that they had to get up and leave.

If you won something on the slots or vp machines, do you toss a few coins to the people in your area playing on their machines? IMHO, same thing if I won something on the tables. It was my money and I was lucky to win. Same thing if they won, I wouldn't expect to get anything from them if they won. We all wish that it was us who won but we are happy and jealous that someone near us won the money.

But if you want to tip people on your table after a big win by all means go for it. It's your money and you can do anything you want with it.

Different story if I tip a shooter on the crap table. It was because of his rolls that I won so I would tip him something for his troubles. Sometimes the shooters don't bet a lot because they are too busy with their shooting so I consider it karma to tip the guy a green chip or red or more if I won money. In return I have been tipped when I shot well. I even got tipped a black chip once because the player probably won $5k off my shooting. I hit a lot of hard ways during that roll so he kept parlaying it.

I always tell people who win big is that the only thing better than them winning a jackpot, is me winning the jackpot. :)

I've been tipped several times on the craps table; mostly a quarter but once a black chip. I have also tipped one shooter that shot the All-Tall-Small three times in one night. She didn't really need my quarter, but her rolls made me 10x my buy-in.

I will throw out 3 way bets when shooting dice- the crew, me, and the shooter...usually a thirty four...I play dont's. I don't make many friends that way, but I can flat cool a shooter.

The only time I ever gave anyone anything at a table was in July of last year. I was playing High Card Flush at Binion's with one other guy at the table. He was doin OK and I couldn't get anything going. He was sitting at first base and I was in the middle. It was just the two of us. He suggested that I change positions so I moved over to third base. About five hands at my new spot I caught a five card straight flush and I also had a six card flush. I was betting $10 on each bonus so my win was well into the four figures. I duked the dealer a black and offered to buy the other guy dinner. He accepted and we had some damn good BBQ baby back ribs with all the trimmings in the BBQ restaurant in the back of Binion's.

I've never won big on a table game...
But I HAVE tipped shooters at craps (both by throwing them red or green chips or by betting hard ways for them)

One time I was playing UTH and a lady at the full table got a straight flush, I think she was playing like $10 and won around $1000, she gave everybody at the table $5. Unexpected and unnecessary, but nice!

Only been tipped while rolling at a Craps table once, a guy who was playing several $25-$100 hardways made some money off me so he put out a $25 hard 6 for me. Wish he had just handed me the green chip as I sevened-out like two rolls later. :rolleyes2:

I also had a guy give everybody at a BJ table $5, I think there were three or four of us, when he disputed a payout and stopped the game for 10 minutes and it turned out the dealer paid him correctly.

He meant you are putting pressure on the shooter to win that bet. I think it is a dumb statement, but I have heard on more than one occasion, someone say, "Don't press (pressure) the shooter".

As far as tipping? Fuck that shit. If I make $2000 off of the four hard eighths you just threw, good for me! Once, I did have a player tell me, "Aren't you going to give me a tip?" I said, "Here's your tip.......There's plenty of room on that spot for your chips, too".
