    My Trip Report

Restless now. I simply cannot sleep. It's T-6.5 hours till gear up on my flight into McCarran from RDU via SFO. It's not like I'm the first-timer here but it still feels like the first trip.
I've gained a world of knowledge from my previous journeys. I know enough to be dangerous :wink2:. I don't consider myself a danger to others and the jury is still out on just how much of a threat I'll be to myself :rolleyes2:.
The line I'll attempt to walk between babysitting the newb, who gambles little, and ensuring my own degenerate needs may be a challenge. But hey, I'm up for it. Maybe, just maybe, a new Vegas lover will be born. Even a trip such as this to Vegas is better than no trip. The weight of the VMB is upon my shoulders (dramatic enough?) in bringing another into the fold. As have others before me, I accept the mission.
Here's the plan. I'm not one for a detailed itinerary much less sticking to one, but some semblance of order to have time away from the casinos seems necessary.
I'm renting a car for the first two days. Day 1 will include dinner, I'm thinking Wolfgang Puck @ MGM followed by either Carrot Top or Blue Man Group as a mild intro. Then the Strip and the tables.
Day 2, the first full day, has us driving out to Hoover Dam for the tour. To me that's a fascinating attraction that creates lasting memories. A trip down into the belly of Boulder still excites me. Afterward, lunch and possibly Red Rock Canyon. That's a lot of driving and I don't know if that part actually happens. But the contrast of man-made beauty against that of Mother Nature is one to behold. Then dinner and the tables/VP/slots.
The auto collection, Madame Tussaud's, the fountains, volcano and other obligatory touristy things may substitute some of this.
I cancelled Lagasse Stadium for the Panthers/Broncos on day 3 in favor of Tap sports bar at MGM for logistical purposes. Besides, I'm nearing platinum MLife status and every little bit helps. Day 4 will include downtown and getting some play in at Elco, the D and MSS.
That certainly is plenty, a robust plan if ever there was one for me. The spontaneity that is Vegas will no doubt dictate much of what happens. I'm still looking for my first handpay, my first chocolate chip and the heater to end all heaters. I'll keep you posted. More later. Gonna try to nap for a couple hours. :nworthy:

At the airport and TSA pre-check is the longest line!

That didn't last long. The rest of the world caught up to me.

I'm feeling grateful and hopeful on this trip. I suppose when life's terms reveal my sister with stage 3 colon cancer and my mom with congestive heart failure, hope and gratitude are the order for the day.
I feel I've been working like a borrowed mule on the job lately. I hate that people need the service that I provide but I'm thankful to be able to do it. I treat cancer patients with radiation. This trip is very timely in terms of a much needed escape from reality. More later.

The trip is off to an awesome start! The ATM gives me 50s, then my bag is lost. Guess it's uphill from here, right?

Almost forgot my manners. My mom raised me better than that. Thanks, everyone, for the well wishes and good luck! More later.

Thrift car rental is Nissan Altima. I reserved the "Wild Card". No luck there as I got a Chevy Spark with no cruise control. Paid the $11.00/day upgrade for this.

Down $750 on Day 1. Helluva start to this trip. The Law of Murphy and variance gang-banged my a$$ today. Sleep, Hoover Dam tomorrow. Only uphill from here right?[emoji848]

Ugh. Our first day mostly sucked too. Get the bad luck out of the way I guess?

Day 1 was filled with firsts for me. First time losing luggage on a flight. Got removed from Gold/Platinum check in line...my card was in my lost luggage. I guess I don't have an honest face[emoji56]. My first time not winning a single hand, nor a single slot pull after 2 $100 buy-ins each [emoji35].
I do have more pics to post and we'll return to our regularly scheduled program after this brief side trip to Hoover Dam. [IMG]

Yep. Hopefully the curse of the firsts is gone.
Headed down to roulette now, but first:

From before Blue Man Group last night. The show was still good. The theater at Monte Carlo gave them just a bit more flexibility. It's still worth the price of admission.
