Cromwell

Can anybody give me thoughts on the Cromwell? We have gone to Vegas for so long that we kind of got out of doing any wandering around because once you've seen something....well, you know. This place looks nice from the photos....the casino looks like they borrowed Steve Wynn's design. Always looking for a change of scenery for an evening since we come out for a week.

 

It is my favorite casino to gamble in. It is small, and you can basically see the whole thing right when you enter, but they have good limits and really nice dealers. the Slot Cocktail waitresses are really really good, and the table ones are hit and miss, but once you get the attention of one they are great. Giada's was good (had dinner) but seemed to be small portions for the price tag. We did get to see her so that was cool. We have not stayed there though.

 

Also....is the pool area a nice pool during the day to chill or is it always (day and night) a club thing?

 

One of our favorite places to gamble at. The casino is small but features many of the slots we like to play. Drink service is one of the best on the entire strip. Location is great. Rooms are a bit on the small size and dark. The property lacks dining.and entertainment. Even though we're comped 24/7, we wouldn't consider staying here. There are better CET options.

 

Thanks Dan. I noticed that it looked like on their website that there is only one restaurant (Giada), is that right? Where do people eat breakfast? I will say it looks like a nice change of pace for an evening of gambling and we do love Italian food if we decide to stay for dinner. Planning to check out the COSMO too....aren't they just about across from one another?

 

Place looks nice, but truth be told, I REALLY miss when this was the Barbary Coast. We used to get great room offers from them and the floormen and floorwomen used to give out prime rib dinners in the Victoria Room like they were giving out candy. When Harrah's bought it the comps dried up and now as the Cromwell the room prices are insane. We usually pop in there, but I have a lot of great memories of the old days there.

 

Giada's is open for all three meals. Cosmo is just south of Flamingo (south of Bellagio) and not a bad walk.

 

I used to go to the restaurant in the back corner there all the time for prime rib, is it there still? If not, what's in its place now, slots?

 

Bar area and check in are where the Victorian Room used to be.

 

I have stayed there a few times. What I love: tables have low limits, almost have space to sit down, great dealers and pit bosses, great drink service. Coffee every morning at the lower level of the elevators. What is okay: slot choices....wishing they were better. Oh one other thing I love: short walk to the strip and never waiting for elevators

 

Thoughts: very nice, but mucho dinero to stay there.

 

We stayed on a comp in March and had a nice room on the 7th or 8th floor. Giada's is the only food choice on site but it is a quick walk to the food court in Flamingo. The drink service is great at the front of the casino and at the bars but in the back by the high limit room it was sparse in the morning. The room was pretty dark but the toiletries were top notch. I ended up ordering a bottle of the shampoo when we got back. The walk in shower has a see thru mirror if the room is dark that you might want to remember if staying with someone you don't want to see in their birthday suit. I would stay again but my wife really is the most comfortable at Planet Hollywood. Our room had a view of the north strip but I did notice the rooms closer to the elevators with a north view would have a nice wall to stare at. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Mark. I doubt we'd stay there as we're pretty much at home at Wynncore but I always like to get out and play a few other places when we're there for a week and the photos of the casino looked nice and very comfortable.

 

I really like it, makes a change of pace from some of the much larger Casino / Resort hotels. Really fond memories of when it was still Bill's!

the room was ... "nice" ... but it's really DARK. the whole theme is dark and the room itself is dark
not my taste

i guess some people like the casino floor because it's so small
i found it to be boring
there was no cheering at the craps table
i lost a couple of hundred dollars and then went across the street to caesars and bellagio to play instead

 

Cromwell is one of my favorites to gamble in. Some have mentioned that the Casino is quiet, no one was cheering, boring. I like the contrasts that the mid Strip has. When i gamble at PHO, i love the high energy of the crowd, the Go Go dancers strutting their stuff at the Pleasure Pit while Craps players cheering the Dice below them.
The Cromwell, on the other hand, is smooth, sophisticated, like James Bond playing Baccarat in Monaco, it has an elegance that allows me to play in a setting that makes me feel welcome even though i'm a low to mid end slot player and will never get comps at the Cromwell.
Vegas loves money, always has and always will, but doesn't discriminate on where you spend it.

 

Is there a sportsbook?? Expedia had a special for $79/night but chose Gold Coast instead ....thinking maybe I made a mistake as it sounds like a nice change of pace for a few days...

 

Oh just like BC & Bills The only time I go here. Is to pickup some chips at the crap table. After it changes names. It takes only a half hour. Before the wife is tugging on my arm. " Are you almost finished",

 

I like to spend one night playing Mississippi Stud at Cromwell each trip. Will be there again soon and hope to repeat this March hit.

 

Nope. There is a certain clientele they want at Cromwell and a type they don't want. They don't want much rowdiness there. No hooping and a hollering.

They've gone out of their way to be very nice to my wife and me there. No comps or anything official like that but sending security to my side in about 20 seconds after I had an issue with someone there. Don't know if an employee called security or they saw from the eye in the sky but they were on the scene before things escalated. They handled the situation well. The bartenders know us and take good care of us. They've even offered to give us tours of the pool and club areas.
