I have been to Vegas 10-12 times now, but never on a holiday weekend. Can anyone tell me what to expect?
We normally go every September for a late anniversary trip (not this year, this year is Puerto Rico) We have been there Labor Day weekend a few times and it wasn't any different than other times of the year. Didn't notice much of a difference really
I visited vegas over labor day weekend. Pools are still crowded with people. The younger pool party places are also very busy. You may also notice an increase in people in the hotels and at the tables so hotel rates may be a little higher than normal. Car rental rates may also be a little higher. Usually the crowd is there for the weekend (so the weekend is busy) so hopefully by Monday labor day they are starting to pack up to go home. The only good thing is that most of the kiddies went back to school so you don't see as many youngsters as you would see during memorial day weekend.
Oh....I have been there a few times over labor day weekend as well over the last few years. The weekend is a little more crowded. Buffets and daily specials at restaurants go up. But come Monday around 3pm the crowds diminish quite a bit.
I have been on a couple of Labor Day weekends. It is busy, but I didn't feel it was any busier than any other decently big weekend in Vegas. Hotel rates didn't seem to be out of sight on either of my Labor Day trips.
I was in Vegas over the Labor Day weekend last year. I've been there for a couple of Super Bowls, March Madness, Kentucky Derby, Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Thanksgiving and that Labor Day trip was the busiest that I have experienced. Huge lines everywhere, sidewalks were packed with tourists, pools were full and the casinos were very busy. I stayed at the Flamingo for part of my trip and there was a line of over 50 people at 2 A.M. waiting to check-in. The valet was pretty much restricted to Diamond and 7 star cardholders for the weekend. FSE downtown at night was a zoo. My family and I enjoyed ourselves, but I was very glad to be a Diamond card member at CET..saved waiting in those long lines many times. The self parking at the Flamingo was an absolute nightmare; even worst than usual.
My experience Labor Day 2013 at The Flamingo was just like this. Very, very busy, but still a very very good time
I'll be there too, and am wary as well.I had no idea it was a holiday weekend when I booked it (also was going to see Coldplay, but sold my tickets when I saw the setlist!). I assiduously avoid holiday weekends (except Xmas) to keep away from the extra crush of humanity on the strip, but from the sounds of it in this thread it may not be too bad. I think the worst crowds I faced there were for NASCAR weekend. Total shitshow.
Yeh...it gets more crowded. Alot of Cali drive ins. I don't wait on lines for food in Vegas ( anyway ) so -- it doesn't bother me. Pool lounges can fill up.
It'll be packed in Vegas for Labor Day...it always is...it's the Great American Holiday; last bash of summer.
I've been there over LD and it was definitely more crowded than other weekendsl. Plus it's the opening weekend of college football so the sportsbooks are jammed too. I love football season in Vegas.
It'll be busy (i have been over thanksgiving, july 4th, xmas, etc) but it brings a nice energy to the city. The only downside is higher limits on tables, but if you walk around, you can find good tables during the day.
Labor Day is a great time to go... weather still hot, lots of folk in town so people watching is at a premium, college and pro football just starting up.... in other words---- WONDERFUL Jeff
Which is why we always try to plan a trip the following weekend and into that next week...not the Tues-Fri directly after Labor Day, but arriving that next Saturday.
Wow, busier than super bowl, that's hard to believe and disheartening. this will be my first labor day week-end, i expect to be busy but the that busy. curious, did you just mention thanksgiving because its a holiday or because of volume? this will be the first thanksgiving week-end I will miss in about 8 years and while its busier than use to be, i find it to be slower than normal week-ends. Fearing traffic (driving from la area), I've added 9/1 to get head start. will probably hangout on strip that night, rest of trip DT
I mentioned Thanksgiving only because it is a holiday, like Labor Day. Thanksgiving was not all that busy except if you wanted to partake in a buffet that day....l couldn't believe the lines...2 to 3 hour wait time.
Thanksgiving day itself isn't all that crazy but the 3 day weekend that follows is busier than a normal weekend.
