What happens if you are not playing with a players card ( let's assume you don't have one)... Buy in at at BJ table for $1k, you win $6k, go to the cage to cash out and they ask for a players card - "I don't have one"... Ok, we need to see your ID....QUESTION....
If you refuse to show your ID, is the casino obligated to pay you? What rights do the players have vs. the obligation of the casino to pay?

Anything over around $1200 has to be reported to IRS. No ID, no tax form, no pay. :(

BUT, more power to you if you can find a loophole. If you do, let us know, as that would kick butt...

PS great resource ABQ on the link!

What reasons would one have to not want to show an I.D. in a case like this?

Cant you just change out the chips to larger denom chips so you can take them around w you easily and just go cash out a thousand dollars at a time every couple hours or so or on different days if you stay longer and just go about it that way?

Don't have one? Not carrying it if you do? Given that it's blackjack, maybe you're an advantage player and want to fly under the radar?

$1,200? That's only for slot machines as far as I know. For table games, it's 300x your bet, which you can achieve by playing the King's bounty sidebet on some BJ tables, it pays 1000:1 when you get two King of Spades, and dealer has a BJ.

I've cashed out numerous times for way more than $1200 and they have never asked for an ID. On a couple of occasions they did call the pit though. However, I would have no problem showing ID in order to avoid a protracted delay.

    This.

While restating this, I would like to remind the forum that political commentary is against forum rules. But I assume most forum members disagree with said rule from a pure gambling perspective.

If you want to fly under the radar without ID, then keep the chips and use them to play the next day. And then cash them out not all at once.

One time Playing BJ, I bought in for 2k at treasure island high limit area. I cashed out for 5k and they gave me one 5k chip. Getting that cashed was a major pain in the ass, even with having an ID.

Do you look underage? A lot of the people gambling who don't have players cards or ID are not legally allowed to play. A casino won't pay you if you're underage.

I was told one time by a casino employee that (at least on video poker) it's only a single game paying $1200 or more that triggers the W2G. Therefore a few 4OAK wins that push your credits above $1200 will not do it. I also remember, at least for a while, one downtown (forget which?????) had a $.025 RF payout set at $1199.00.

Hi DMR, great clarification. I was thinking of over 1200 in one win, but you're totally right, he might have meant he was cashing out a night of chips! No clue on how that goes down with id.

Very cool on 1999 for a win. BTW :)

Ps willslotforcash, if it's just for slots on 1200 that also is great feedback. You can tell what my poison of choice is to have 1200 in my mind!

This is bordering on 'structuring' which is illegal if your cumulative amount is over $10k.

Short answer is NO, no don't need to show ID for to redeem chips for <10K. Different story if total payments for the day exceed 10K.

I promise this is not a 60 page PDF, and it's not political!

The long bar at D currently freezes the Royal progressive at $1199 for the quarter game to avoid dealing with handpays. It's probably at $1199 about half the time. I'd rather they didn't do that though. I would rather have a chance at a bigger prize.

Isn't freezing the progressive against the Nevada gaming regulations? That doesn't seem right to me.

Freezing progressives' movement is legal as far as i know. Not paying the progressive jackpot back to the players by shutting the machine down is illegal unless the progressive money is transferred to another bank.

Sorry if it seemed I was trying to make a political statement by posting the Title 31 act link. Currency transaction rules are complicated, and getting more so every year. That was the point that I was trying to make, and I should have prefaced the link with that statement.
