Harrah's Atlantic City advice requested

Will be going to Harrah's AC in a few weeks and would like advice on where to eat and what to do. I understand a trip to the Borgata is a must. We already have stayed at Caesar's, so no need to head to the Boardwalk this trip. TIA!

 

A lot of this depends on what YOU enjoy doing ,your age group etc. The pool at Harrahs is something people really find appealing. As far as food goes it really depends again on your "style. Do you go all out for fine dining or are you bargain hunters like me?
Most people will recommend the Eden Lounge at night for their great bands and party atmosphere.
This time of year I would also urge you to consider a 15 min. walk to the Golden Nugget for their restaurants and also their outside Deck for great entertainment.and casual outdoor dining.

 

We are in our late 50s, have a pool at home. We enjoy both fine dining(maybe one expensive dinner per trip) and mostly cheaper but good food. Thanks for the advice! Will check out the GN fer sher as well!

 

I just came from Harrahs and I really enjoy their meal options. Even the food court had decent pizza. That said, I do not recommend Dos Caminos...personally, I think it's just okay and a bit overpriced for the quality. The Dos Caminos in New York City is much much better. Martoranos is my personal favorite.

One thing to note: CET offers a free shuttle for Total Rewards members to take you to Bally's or Caesar's. I'd recommend taking advantage of that shuttle and checking out Gordon Ramsay's or Buddhakan at the shops along their pier.

 

If the weather is nice stroll over to Golden Nugget and check out the Chart House.

 

All of the restaurants at Borgata are good (except the Metropolitan), you can't go wrong. They also have a food court downstairs.

 

"The Pool" at Harrah's is worth visiting and spending a couple of hours with a foo-foo drink. It's in a big domed atrium with a lot of lush foliage and multiple hot tubs. Water is kept comfortably warm.
Eden at night has a fun atmosphere but if the weather permits, a stroll over to the Golden Nugget and time spent on their dock with the band playing is definitely a great way to spend an evening.
Martorano's is my favorite restaurant at Harrah's (and I'm not a real Italian food fan but this is really good stuff). If you're so inclined you can sit at the counter in front of the chefs and get a 'show' while you're eating. They sometimes throw some interesting bites your way for you to try if you're really interested in what they're doing. I love to cook so the show is just great to me.
If you play vp they have a couple of good choices but Borgata has better ones.
If you're diamond they have an incredible spread in their diamond lounge that's good for lunch or dinner...free or $10comp depending on level of diamond.

 

Fwiw. Just visited Ceasars and Ballys 2 weekends ago for the first time in 6 years! The diamond lounge at Ballys is bigger than most restaurants I've been in and the buffet beats the buffet at Pres quille casino in Erie pa!
Seven Stars lounge at Ceasars had prime rib, salmon and a menu from which to order from !
Never needed to eat anywhere else once I discovered both diamond lounges at Ballys ( great view overlooking the beach) and Ceasars ( plus lil sis is 7 stars)!

Yes, Harrahs self parking garage is located across the street from the casino.

 

There is an enclosed walk way from the parking garage to Harrah's. Also if you are platinum or higher parking is free. I believe if you spend 75. or more on food etc you can also get a voucher. As someone else mentioned, there is a shuttle to the boardwalk side too.

Food

• Good breakfast/lunch at Gilchrist in Gardner's Basin (along with a few other food options there that I haven't tried.)
• If you do visit the Boardwalk, I hit Harry's Oyster Bar at Bally's at least once a trip.
• Despite not having crab legs, the buffet at Borgata was very good.

Activities

• One of the highlights from our last trip was the Dolphin Watching cruise through AC Cruises. Coupons for $5 off are available online.
• Borgata usually has pretty good comics every night at their Comedy Club. If you play on MyVegas, they have free tickets there.
• The Tropicana has a semi-decent afternoon magic show called Magique Remixed. Too much dancing around for my tastes, but the magic was pretty good.

 

So we did Jitney over to Borgata and picked up a Black card that allowed us to eat at their "Amphora" club. Outstanding! Not sure what's going to happen once MLife takes over, so might be the only time we 're able to eat there. These casinos seem larger than the ones in Vegas.

 

Just back from Martorano's. Very unimpressed. The food WAS good, the service horrible. We were there for over 2 hours. Just hadvthe meatball salad( the salad was excellent, the meatball good but not great.) I had the carbonara and SWMBO had a Phillie. I sure hope Budakan is better tomorrow for lunch. We 'll likely have dinner tomorrow at the Diamond Club again.
