    I am a relative Vegas newby. My name is Nick and I live in Illinois. I was always against going to Vegas until my wife dragged me there in 2014 and now I love it. I spend all my time thinking about it and looking up info. I play a some slots, VP and a little craps. I am a huge NASCAR fan and plan on going to the race in March there. I have stayed downtown twice at the D and once at the M Resort off strip (friend got us comped rooms). Downtown is amazing and staying at the M was very nice also. We will be back in November for the Duel in the Desert dirt race, staying at the Fremont. I am loving this forum so far by the way!

    Welcome....what part of IL? I live in So Cal now, but grew up in the western suburbs, then lived downtown for about four years in my late 20s/early 30s.

    Hey grosx2, where in the W. burbs did you grow up? I spent a good chunk of my life there myself, and lived in Roscoe Village for 4 yrs in my 20s.

    Grew up in Willowbrook, parents still live there. After college, I lived in Woodridge and Naperville before moving to the city. My Chicago years were in Wicker Park.

    I grew up in Berkeley & Bloomingdale, and had a house in Lombard during my married years. Now up in the NW burbs near my office.

    Welcome! Sounds like you caught the LV bug bad. I've had it since the wife and I came out for our 25th in 2014. Symptoms include continuous daydreams of GN poker, frequent visits to this site, and hours of VP at videopoker.com, and craps and pai gow at wizardofodds.com. When the delirium tremors set in, I grab a drink, pretend its comped, and read old trip reports from Royal Flusher, with videos from Trooper97 on youtube. My life is not complete unless I have a planned trip to look forward to. Still 83 days out and it consumes me. Downtown has no rivals, the strip can suck it!

    My friends may have just been down in/through your neck of the woods. They did a little road trip to the "American Pickers" shop somewhere near/on the Iowa/Illinois border.
    Who's your favorite Sprint Cup driver these days?

    Hi Richard,

    I actually live 15 minutes from the American Pickers shop. Its a pretty cool place. My favorite driver is Denny Hamlin by the way.

    Denny's in my Top 10. My faves are Menard and Kenseth--the "local" boys.

    I like Denny, Truex, Bowyer, Kurt Busch, Harvick, Brendan Gaughan, Danica. Only two I don't care much for are Keselowski and Logano.
