I posted on here about having to miss out on a Feb trip this year due to having cellulitis. I did eventually get that trip in April though. So a couple of weeks ago I was looking at coming over to New York to watch Baseball. Flights weren't too bad but hotels were crazy so I dropped the idea. The trip away bug was there though and I ended up booking 6 nights in Vegas. So I'm looking forward to this fairly hurriedly arranged trip. On Sunday I went out in the day for a few beers but only lasted a couple as I felt unwell. I came home and went to bed but was going through a hot a cold phase. I woke up and felt a lot better and even managed to eat as well and I put it down to something I had eaten. I even went out Sunday night for a few beers and felt fine, that was until about 3am Monday morning when I was throwing up again. I went back to sleep and when I woke up later I felt a lot better. As the day went on though my left foot started hurt and I could see it was swelling slightly. I rang to get a doctors appointment but couldn't get one till Tuesday morning. I seen the doc and yes I have got cellulitis again although not as bad this time. Last time was 10 days in hospital and 2 weeks on crutches, this time it's a better scenario. I can walk on it although my foot and ankle are still very swollen. At the moment I cant get my trainer on but I do have a plan B should the swelling not go down enough. I'm halfway through the 2 lots of antibiotics I have been prescribed and it's looking ok at the moment, so fingers crossed I will be on that plane on Weds.
Oh no! Hope you caught it early enough that your recovery will be quick. I have had to cancel trips for health things and it makes me really cranky.
Thanks Sonya, last time it was no chance as I was still on crutches at the time of the trip. This time around I can walk on it so it's looking a lot better. I hope the gambling gods will be kind to me giving what I have gone through to get on this trip.
I've had two episodes of cellulitis in my leg stemming from an old injury...last one started up during a Vegas trip....put me in the hospital for 5 days on IV antibiotics and several weeks on oral antibiotics..not fun. I now travel with a 'emergency' supply of antibiotics on my Vegas trips, just in case the symptoms start up again during my trip. Hope you make the trip.
Thanks everybody, I'm feeling a lot better and I'm walking about a lot more so hopefully everything will be ok.
