Well.....there's a free tram that'll take you to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay.

It will be fine. I like the Excalibur. It's kitschy. If I didn't get comps, and had to pay for a room, I would have no problem staying there.

Last stayed 6 years ago but was fine, not 'fancy' by any means but perfectly reasonable. Casino is fun, if crowded and if you don't like it, the position is good to visit everywhere else. For a comp you should have no worries....

It's not Wynn or Aria or even Bally's but it's free with a good location. While it would be pretty much impossible to "detheme" the place there has been talk from time to time about major renovations. I hope they don't do that since prices would undoubtedly rise. The ExCal is one of the few truly affordable strip properties.

I have stayed at Excalibur twice, last time in March - 4 nights AND resort fee comped, first time I got the resort fee waived... anyway I love gambling there... the room was fine - first trip was with my brother-in-law and second was solo so all I cared about was a place to sleep....

If you just care about a place to sleep, it's fine. The location is actually my favorite. Very accessible to everything else and I've gone from there to Caesars just w/walking and tram many times.

Agree with everyone. It's not fancy, but rooms were clean the 3 times I have stayed there. AC worked well, shower had plenty of hot water. Lots of cheap dining, easy to get to Luxor, MB, MGM Grand, Trop and New York New York.

Totally agree with Josie on this one. We've been lucky enough to get free rooms at our favorite places, but if we didn't and had to pay, I'd try Ex. versus paying an arm and a leg elsewhere. There are a bunch of spots on the strip I wouldn't stay, but for some reason, Excalibur's "kitchiness" is charming to me too...as it still has that old-school, fun vegas vibe!

It's free, try it, if you hate it, stay in a nicer place next time and it'll just make you appreciate the nicer place more.

P.S. just read the fine print on Excalibur comps. We received a couple promos and were very surprised to see that both Luxor and Excailbur said that they expect you to earn express comps, and REDEMPTION of those express comps are part of the offer. Not "might be", but WILL be deducted. (inferring they'll cash out your express comps to put towards the comp promo.)

Aria, Bellagio and MC have never had this in the fine print on offers we've received, so if you have a good chunk of express comps, you might read the fine print if you don't want to lose them...

I didn't know that - but it explains a lot. Several years ago, we got to town early and just grabbed rooms at Excalibur. It was over Labor Day weekend I think and were just glad to find rooms. After the stay, I went to the M Life booth to see what they could comped off, and the guy at the desk kept offering to use our EC's. I finally said I wanted to see a host, and he comped our stay - NOT using our EC's.

When we started going back to Vegas often about 6 years ago
    We chose the Excalibur
at that time Life got in the way so all comps everywhere had dried up
4 years without being there will do that.

I have never been a believer in paying for my rooms if I am gambling
Just dont think its right as I give plenty of action

    so we chose the excalibur
    as the price was right
59 dollars a night resort fee included

after going to the Mirage sportsbook and playing blackjack there
in two trips I had a host so third trip and since has been all mirage.

    I still like the Excalibur
    Clean rooms
Nothing special but nice and clean
no issues with the casino except for the losers trying to sell a time share at every corner.
    Nice atmosphere of Regular Joes
not your pathetic little Hipster Millennials spending mom and dads money.

It's about the lowest rung on the MGM ladder aside from maybe CC, but hey, if it's comped and it's just a crash pad, why not. Rooms are bare essentials, but fine if you're not fussy.

Dick's Last Resort is a hoot to eat at, the food's nothing to get excited about but if you have a sense of humor the atmosphere is great.

The one thing to be advised of is the ventilation in the casino is HORRIBLE, the whole place smells like the butt end of a Marlboro. If that bothers you, beware.

Ahhh! Well it's good to know you could bypass it with a host Josie, though it sounds like you had to push some, and you play more than I do on BR I think, so if you had pushback, I definitely would have.

For our next trip, I would have had a bigger RC/FP credit with Luxor/Excal so we actually considered trying Luxor, but the caveat on using express comps would have basically made the stay the same value as Aria (or actually even pricer!), so we nixed Luxor/Excal for now. (I am a sucker for fine print, being a big cheapo.)

But, like you, if it was between an expensive paid room elsewhere, or trying a comp at Excal, I'd absolutely try it, I am just not risking dipping into EC unless I have to ;)

Stayed there in 2013 and 2014. Good clean room and overlooked the Strip and Tropicana Hotel. There is easy parking out the back closer to Luxor.

Didn't eat at the hotel, but earned $25 in freeplay on MyVegas Slots, so take advantage of the game to get some comps there.

Location is also great if you like South Strip, but we prefer center Strip location.

    Enjoy.

its the best of the cheaper options in Vegas, along with Luxor I find. I prefer south strip over center so it works out for me.

However, I agree with the smoke at Excalibur. Luxor is fine in that regard.

I stayed there on my first trip to Vegas 11 years ago didn't like that there were lots of kids running around, room was like a motel 6 room. But the price was good, and my play there got me a comp at MGM for my next trip and I haven't paid for a room in Vegas since.

11 years ago...seriously...you are going to use information from 11 years ago?

You know how much Vegas has changed in 11 years? Excal has also changed. Both towers have been renovated, far less kids, and the price is still great.
