We want to go downtown one day on the weekend of life is beautiful we do not want to see the bands etc we just want to eat and go to a few casinos. Does anyone know if the casinos in that area of downtown will be closed for the festival?

    Ranchette,

The casinos on Fremont are always open - 24/7/365! The area will be crowded that weekend. I hope you have a great trip!

    Cheers,
    Kelly

Getting in and out of El Cortez might be tricky, as they are in the middle of the action. Under the canopy, it will be packed, but nobody is going to turn away extra business. :D

If you aren't interested in the bands then why go down there during the festival? Every place will be packed.

Weekend of the 23-25 in Sept. is the Life is Beautiful Event. We'll be flying in Sept 24 and that weekend alone is supposed to be packed in Vegas, they also have iheart music festival going on along with some huge convention on the strip. So needless to say, we're doing sightseeing that weekend, with Red Rock on Sat and Hoover Dam/Valley of Fire on Sunday. I'm all set with the crowds

I went last year. The casinos were busy but not terribly so. You can certainly get into any casino you wish. Restaurants were probably busier as well, but I had no problem getting a table at Glutton (a little off the beaten path).

The biggest issue might be transportation. I assume you're staying on the Strip. I've read that downtown public parking garages charge a lot more, or may be full up. Casino parking may or may not be available to non-guests. I had no trouble getting a cab, but it might depend on just when you want to get there/leave.

Been before when both going on and will be there again this year. Haven't seen a big crowd increase in the middle of the strip down to Wynn. It will be crowded from MGM to MB for iheart however.
