    Hi everyone.

I recently stayed at Cosmo for a few nights (thanks, by the way, to Kevin Sweet for matching one of my other strip casino comp offers), and I was just curious if someone might be able to answer a few questions I have about Identity, and more specifically, their "rolling 12-month period". I've found a few previous threads that have been helpful with answering a few of my questions, but I still have a few follow-up questions that hopefully someone might be able to answer.

During my visit, I managed to accumulate a little over 4100 Identity points through machine play, so I did advance to the Sterling tier. My total Identity point balance actually came out to a little over 6000 points from the addition of dining and hotel spending, but for the sake of simplicity I'll just refer to points earned through machine play. Anyway, let's say that I earned my 4000th point on 7/4/16, which means that I'm locked in at Sterling through 7/4/17. If I want to maintain my Sterling status, does this mean that a "rolling" period really doesn't apply any longer, and that I need to earn another 4000 points before my now fixed anniversary date of 7/4/17 to maintain my Sterling status? My plan is to earn another 4000 Identity points during my next two Vegas trips which both should occur prior to my 2017 anniversary date, so as long as I do that, I'm hoping I'll be able to maintain my Sterling status.

Finally, although this doesn't apply to my situation, I'm just curious about reaching and renewing Sterling status within a short period of time. Here are two different scenarios, and for sake of discussion, let's assume that we're starting from a zero Identity point balance and that all points are earned from machine play.

    Scenario A:
    7/1/16: Earn 1000 Identity points
    7/2/16: Earn 1000 Identity points
    7/3/16: Earn 1000 Identity points
7/4/16: Earn 5000 Identity points & qualify for Sterling status through 7/4/17

    Scenario B:
    7/1/16: Earn 1000 Identity points
    7/2/16: Earn 1000 Identity points
    7/3/16: Earn 1000 Identity points
7/4/16: Earn 1000 Identity points & qualify for Sterling status through 7/4/17
    7/5/16: Earn 4000 Identity points

This is kind of an extreme example, but am I correct in assuming that scenario A would qualify me for Sterling status only through 7/4/17, while scenario B would qualify my for Sterling status through 7/4/18?

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help!

It's an interesting question they way you posed it.

Technically, I think your conclusions with respect to Scenario A and Scenario B are correct. Scenario B should result in you extending your Sterling status by another year. Same as if you walked into an MLife property on Oct 1 or a CET property on Jan 1 and earned the requisite Tier Credits

Note that while the surface web pages refer to a "12 month rolling period", the Terms and Conditions refer to a "365 day rolling period." Once your anniversary date is determined, the 365 day clock on maintaining it should start on the following day, and it shouldn't make any difference whether you earn the required 4,000 points on Day 1 or Day 365 of that period.

Be aware that if you further advance your tier (to Gold in this case) before your anniversary date, your anniversary date will reset to the date you reached Gold. This may be where the "rolling" phrase comes from.

Also, for purposes of potentially reaching Gold, the clock should have started with the first point you ever earned, this is like a "hidden" anniversary date. So let's say you joined Identity on June 15 and dropped your first coin that day. Even though your anniversary date has now reset to July 4 for purposes of maintaining your tier, if you have any intention of reaching Gold, (I think) you'd need to do it by June 14.

Also note that if you reach Sterling, thus earning one comp night outside of marketing offers, and you think you may reach Gold (which earns two comp nights outside marketing offers), my recommendation is to use the Sterling night on the following trip, or at least before you reach Gold. If you have a Sterling night "banked" and unused when you reach Gold, you basically lose it. You don't end up with three, you end up with two.

There's a significant difference in a 365 day period vs a 12 month period, at least in the first year. MLife used to use a rolling 12 month period, and what that meant was if your anniversary date was any day in July, you had until July 31 of the following year to maintain your tier.

Thanks for the info, Chuck. At the moment, I think my goal is to just maintain Sterling status, as I doubt that I'd play enough to reach Gold status.

Aside from the 1 night comp room offer offered to all Sterling members, can anyone comment on what type of casino marketing offers are typically extended to Sterling tier players, or more specifically, players who have achieved Sterling status by accumulating 4000+ points strictly through machine play? I'd imagine that someone who accumulated 4000+ Identity points strictly through machine play would receive better offers than someone who achieved Sterling status by earning most of their points through hotel and dining expenses.

4100 points is about $10K coin-in for slots (I am assuming this is what you mean by "machine play "). I'll assume a "few days" is 4 days based on your example. Your ADT would be about $250 and that may get you a weeknight room. My wife plays slightly more than that over a 3-4 day trip and gets 2 weeknight rooms comped in a city room. No free play or resort credit. Hope this helps.

$3,000 a day coin in on slots will probably get you 2 - 3 comped nights midweek with maybe some resort credit.

$4,000 a day coin in on slots over a 4 night stay got me 4 nights and $135 freeplay.

$4,000 a day coin in over a 7 night stay got me 4 nights, $330 freeplay and $100 resort credit. I think this offer was better than the last one because of the duration of the play and because I took a beating, which shows, well, that I'm willing to take a beating. And also probably because they think they can get the same total coin in out of me in 4 nights.

$2,500 - $3,000 a day will probably get you an offer for your choice of 2 nights midweek OR some amount of resort credit.

The base room for most offers is a City Room, and you can arrange in advance for a paid upgrade from that.

And you're right that marketing offers are based on gaming. Tier itself doesn't matter. If you got all your points from hotel spend, there's no reason to bother comping you, they'd just be giving up money you've shown you're willing to spend.

An easy way to think about it is the rolling 365 window has to do with advancing to the next level. At any given time your advancement looks at the last year and determines if you move up. When you do bump a tier like you to sterling. You have until your anniversary to earn 4K more which will renew for a year. Hitting a new tier establishes a new anniversary.

Also don't forget that multiplied points don't count towards tier. Just comps/free play.

Yes, that's an important thing to keep in mind when you're tracking play for tier purposes.

Once you reach Sterling, you get 2 Identity Points for each $2.50 coin in. These are points worth a penny either applied to your bill or converted to freeplay. But you are still only earning 1 point per $2.50 coin in for tier purposes, and you can't see your total tier credits anywhere, you have to go to the Identity Desk.

However, you can track your coin in and tier credits during a session by looking at the lower right corner of most slots, it will display Session Points. Divide by 2 to get your base points/tier credits and then multiply by 2.5 to get your coin in for the session.

My running calculations say I should have reached it, and I called a couple of days after I left and they said I did. Last year, I had to email them because they hadn't given me credit for upgrade fees. Once they corrected that, I was over the top. That also had a side benefit of giving me an anniversary date that was two weeks later than it would have been. Now I don't have to worry about it falling in the middle of a trip, my trips will always be done before the anniversary date.

Quick question for you identity experts who are at Sterling level. I understand you get a 2-4-1 wicked spoon coupon each month. How does that work - do you go to the desk and have it loaded onto your card. It is by calendar month or 30days from the last time your used it? Example. If I was there Sept 30 and Oct 1 - would I be able to use it twice :)

Go to the identity desk. They will give you a paper coupon which you give to the cashier at the buffet. It's per calendar month so yes you could get it on sept 30 and then again on October 1.

Cool! Congrats, Chuck. Glad it worked out so it doesn't fall mid-trip.
