    My Trip Report

Two days in Biloxi and one in New Orleans. Comp room at Harrah's in Biloxi. Wanted the French Quarter experience , so that will be at a nice boutique place.
Drove in and basically parked in the Harrah's garage and taking Uber just about everywhere since the have just returned to service in the area a couple of weeks ago. Seems they were run out of town but fought and came back. So far, both drivers we've had have only been with Uber a matter of days.
Harrah's cadino is postage stamp size and not impressive so far. There is a Steak and Shake in the casino however! Great upscale restaurant by a chef from New Orleans who also has places back home. We'll be using my Diamond 100.00 meal voucher there tonight.
Went to an awsome place for dinner last night..Mary Mahoney's Old French House. The building was built in 1737. There's so much I could say about this place but it would take up way too much space. We were able to wlal from there to Beau Rivage. Jam Packed on a Saturday night. Way too many kids w/familys in the non-casino areas. But it had a Vegasy vibe overall. Been there before but ladt night was really busy. Some sort of promotion and drawing going on. Someone ended up winning a Mercedes after picking the right "door", choice or whatever. I, on the other hand lost about 80.00.

Went to Golden Nugget this morning. Not a bad looking place. But, not very well diversified with slots. No WoF's to be found. Played about an hour and left 250.00 up. My wife is always amazed when I actually leave on a positive note. She has absolutely no luck at all when she plays.
Lunch at The Reef right on the beach. Ate on the deck overlooking the Gulf. Started out cloudy with a nice cool breeze. By the time we were through, the sun had come out and we went down and walked the beach for a while.
A little sightseeing and back to Harrah's for some other action.
    To be continued...

We were just looking at a menu from The Reef less than an hour ago that we picked up on a Gulf Coast trip earlier this summer. I am glad y'all had a good time at Mary Mahoney's. Did you by any chance meet Bob Mahoney? He greets customers a lot when he is around and is a true Biloxi character. Have fun in New Orleans. Thanks for the pictures. One of the few things that Katrina did not diminish is the pool area at Harrah's Gulf Coast. I still enjoy sitting out there whenever I stay there.

Didn't meet Bob Mahoney unfortunately. It was a very memorable experience. I'll post a picture of the levels of the flooding from Katrina that affected the restaurant.
The Reef was a nice lunch experience except for our waiter who was about only 15% engaged with the server/ customer interaction. It was reflected in his tip, needless to say. Next time we'll try Shaggy's.
Used my Diamond certificate at Magnolia House by Kelly English at Harrah's for dinner Sunday. Beautiful place, great service and very good food. I highly recommend it even if you're not staying at Harrah's.
The wife went up to the room and I gave the "casino" another shot. Roulette table (yes, there's One) not very productive. Netted about 250.00 on slots so i was up about 400.00 for the trip at that point.
    On to the Big Easy!

Great time in New Orleans. It was a short one night trip after coming from Biloxi, only a 1 1/2 hour drive. Unfortunately, not enough time logistically to visit Harrah's.
Weather was unpredictable, as it can be there this time of the year. Rain for an hour, sunshine for an hour, cloudy and then back to rain. So we took a tour of the city with one of those small tour buses. Been to N.O. many times. But, never actually played "tourist". Saw some cool and interesting places and without having to navigate the traffic personally.
Ate some great local food and hit up Bourbon St. for a quick walk to soak up the atmosphere. (translation: the wife didn't want to any of the entertainment venues that I would have gone to solo!)
Service people are so pleasantly accommodating and friendly all over the area. We highly recommend our hotel choice there in the French Quarter. It was Hotel Mazarin on Bienville St. One half block from Bourbon St and it was one of the quietest rooms we've had practically anywhere we've travelled. Best hotel free breakfast until 11:00 too!
