I play mostly at CET properties, I am going to Vegas in a couple weeks for my girlfriend birthday, I won't have a big bank roll for the couple days we are there, just wondering would I be better off just sticking to slot machines to get points, I know comps will be based on my daily average play. Are table games (if I do play table games it's mostly craps, pay line odds and 6 & 8 depending how the table is, if it is going good then all the numbers and keep pressing) I started getting comps again from CET so I would like to keep getting comps but I know don't gamble for comps.

For CET slots $5 = 1 point, so when people are saying they "coin in" $10,000 does that mean you gained 2000 points

Yes, that's correct. $10k coin-in on slots = 2000 tier points at CET (before tier bonuses).

And video poker is $10 coin-in per tier point.

Now if you earn 500 or more tier credits in a "gaming day" (6a-5:59a), you will get a tier credit bonus.

500 Tier Credits gets an extra 125 TC
1000 Tier Credits gets an extra 1000 TC
2500 Tier Credits gets an extra 5000 TC
5000 Tier Credits gets an extra 10000 TC

I don't believe these bonuses help your ADT directly, but they help you get to higher player tiers easier.

Would I be better off playing slots or table games to keep a decent rating for my ADT?

My view is that on a trip with average luck, you are going to lose roughly the same % of your total amount bet regardless of whether you play slots or tables.

I believe, but have not actually calculated, that CET gives fewer Tier Credits per theo on tables than slots.

For comp purposes, it shouldn't make a difference, but there is a nagging feeling that CET prefers slots over tables for room comps also, at least at lower levels of play.

Gun to head, I'd say play slots to maximize your TCs and room comps, but at least look for ones with lower top line pay tables, and minimize play on pennies with all the bells and whistles. And don't totally avoid craps if that's what you like to play.

I have different feeling. I always feel table players are over comped while machine players are under comped.

Here's my view on it. If you understand how the comps are calculated, then it's your decision as to whether that's satisfactory or not, and you can choose to play or not.

I have an agreement (understanding) with each of my hosts that based on my slot TC totals per gaming day, my comps will be X. (notwithstanding the situation where actual exceeds theoretical, which I should NEVER run
    into)

Each of the places that I play at has (for me) a satisfactory arrangement. I have been to LV about 30 times in the last 3 years and I have never paid (directly) for a room, and almost never pay for a meal.

That's excellent that you know going in what your target is.

But I don't get the part in parentheses. Any given trip, your actual loss could be more or less than theo, but most trips, on slots, actual loss is going to be more than theo, at least at the level of coin in I think you're at. Or did you mean your "actual comps" never exceed what you're due given your theo (ie. you never underplay)?

The way my host explained it, actual would have to exceed theoretical by a large (he wouldn't tell me how much) amount.

I set my cut off limits at 1000TC, 2500TC and in an extreme case, 5000TC. A promotion typically drives those limits. I'm fortunate that I've never had such a BAD trip that I quit for the day at 500TC.

On the next trip, I'm gonna try to "grind it out", and stay out of the High Limit pit, and see how long (and how much $) it takes me to get to 1000TC ($5000 coin in).

I try to make it "fair". On a 7* retreat, I did three 2500TC days, but took few backend comps. I politely reminded my host that I would consider that an "undercomped" trip, and would like a dinner at NOBU on my next trip. He agreed and made it so, and we also got 2 tickets to Absinthe. I still put in 1000TC days, but that pretty much only covers my room at Caesars.

Question for you. I earned about 20k tier credits before bonuses last weekend at Lake Tahoe. I didn't have a room and got no freebies. I'm headed up there tomorrow again staying a few nights. Would it be wrong for me to ask for some things based on my play last weekend? Maybe $500 for Friday's station?

I am surprised no one else has mentioned it...

Don't play for comps. Play what you want to play, when you want to play, and where you want to play. Chasing comps is always a losing proposition.

The OP said it, actually. I think the fair answer is, if you truly enjoy both, but going with a reduced bankroll, play most of it on slots, but save some for tables. No harm done. I don't see anything wrong with maximizing your comps, but strictly playing for them is foolish. My workaround locally is if it's a hit it and quit it run, I won't use my card. If it turns into a longer run and the box and boss like me, I'll give them my card and have them roll me back. Works once in a while. Otherwise, the peanuts I get from most trips on tables aren't worth screwing up any ADT. My SO plays with a similar bankroll than me, but is ALL slots, and I get better offers across the board than her playing 85% tables at Borgata, CET, MLife, Valley Forge, etc. YMMV. Helps I don't swing for the fences every at bat, though, lol.

Good luck, though, and have a ton of fun!!

OK, I see what you're saying. Your host says, if you play X, you'll get X in comps, but don't expect any backend unless either your play greatly exceeds X or you really get schmeissed and your actual loss is way above theo.

I think I remember someone posting that one casino's policy was that they would comp 10% of actual when it was excessive. In order to get to "excessive" we're probably talking about a really bad run on tables at a fairly high average.

It is never wrong to ask.
Hosts are overwhelmed with requests from players all the time.
Don't worry about the response. If they say no,you are no worse off than you are now. They will not be offended by your request.

I have not played at a Caesars property in 5 years. When I was a regular at Caesars,my host there and at Harrahs AC said slot players will be take care of better than table game players.
They went as far as saying he heard them in meetings say "table games are being looked at as an amenity"!!!!
    WTF?
Not sure if that thinking still exists but there is no doubt that with a limited bankroll you will do better with slot play.

Several strip casinos I have been to will comp based on 20-40% of theo or 10% of actual...whichever is greater.

I am not expert but it is my understanding unless you are playing $25/hand at a table game you really won't get rated.
If you have enough money to bankroll $25/hand long enough to get rated each day your probably have a large enough bankroll to where this post wouldn't be needed.

Definitely stick with the machines. You can even slow play and still accumulate a decent amount of play.

****As others mentioned, don't play for comps.
But if you just want to be able to play a long time on minimal bankroll while having the potential to accumulate comps then slots would be the way to go over table games.
