LV Sun reports Absinthe departing CP in fall. Kats speculates maybe it'd go to Cosmo, but any chance it could move to Wynncore with Showstoppers leaving?

Crap. I decided to see O instead this upcoming trip figuring it would be around a while. Looks like I'll have to take the wife to a second show to make sure we get to see it.

I don't like all these shows suddenly shutting down or moving. Makes me uneasy about the future of exclusive entertainment in Vegas. The entertainment on the Strip seems to be shifting to concert arenas with traveling performers who play a show or two and then move on or permanent professional sports teams which is something I can stay home and experience. Vegas needs exclusive original entertainment if they want to stay relevant, considering that they haven't had a stranglehold on gambling in the USA for decades now.

I have seen Absinthe multiple times, most recently just last month. That time was my first chance to see the newer cast (I miss Penny). The new performers aren't quite up to the standard set by the original cast, but its still my favorite vegas show. Hope it finds a new home. Also wonder what Caesars will do with that space

Shows, like other business deals will come and go. All amount money and contracts.

    No sense consternating over it.

I don't know what will happen with it but it doesn't really seem a good fit for Cosmo or Wynn.

Fun show and I loved having it in that tent. It will lose some of it's appeal if it's in a regular showroom.

They will have to create a whole new show if it's a more traditional venue.

Trying to think what other properties would have room for the tent. Maybe CityCenter could put one up where Harmon tower used to be. Don't think they WOULD though, as it doesn't really match the whole modern "I am an generic office building and I assure you that is very hip" style of the area.

I should add this to my list for the next trip. I still haven't made it out to see it yet. It will be interesting to see where it ends up.

With all that empty space maybe we could get something new on the strip like maybe a CVS lol

Haven't seen Absinthe in a few years - just got inspired to book tickets for our October trip. Would be cool if they moved the show downtown. Derek???

Much better to move than to shut down!

Seems like very few LV shows are really produced in house anymore. It's not like Stardust and Lido or Riviera and Splash! When the contract/lease is up, the producers will shop for a better deal and the casino will look for a show that has better drawing power. Look at how many times BMG and Jersey Boys moved. Things like Tony 'n Tina's Wedding seem to move quite frequently.

Absinthe has strong ticket sales. As DMR said, some shows have moved around regularly. They tend to fizzle out in one location and move on. Not the case here.

I haven't seen Absinthe NEARLY ENOUGH TIMES. I agree with some posters that the venue kinda is part of the cheesy show, the gymnasium type seats etc. Must see it again before it moves. Currently my Fav Show.

Unlike Raiding the Rock Vault closing, this doesn't disappoint me in the least, since I'm sure they're just going to decamp and restart the show somewhere else.

I hope that they find a good venue (with more comfortable seats, one of my few complaints about the original location), and that they don't take the move as an excuse to raise prices (which they probably would be justified in doing, considering how often the thing sells out).
