Taking the girl to Vegas next March and possibly another couple going with us. She has been before but never had a chance to do the whole pool thing. What would be some recommendations of places to stay with a good pool for the low to mid price range? I hate to select a hotel based on the pool and not the gambling or location but it looks like that is what she cares the most about?

    Any suggestions?

    March isn't typically pool season.

Do most casinos have the pool open in the middle of March? I know last time I was there in march it was over 90 in the afternoon.

What kind of pool scene is she looking for? How old is she?

What do you care about in terms of location and will you have a rental car?

When you say pool scene are you talking about the big party pools like Encore Beach Club, Marquee Day Club and such where the big name dj's come in?

Best pools at budget hotels are Flamingo & Monte Carlo.
If you can bump your budget a bit, go Mirage or MGM.
I prefer Mirage of all these.
More than likely it will be nice enough to sit at the pool, in late March. March averages are around 70-75.
But we were married in Vegas April 2 & it was too cool to get in the pool (but warm enough to sit in sun); but I have been there mid-March in 90s so you never know.

My experience with low to mid price range pools:

Paris - Laid back older crowd. Very quiet. Almost boring.

    Linq - Younger party crowd.

Hard Rock - Younger party crowd. My experience was the pools here weren't chilled. Probably not an issue in March though.

Planet Hollywood - worst pools in Vegas from my experience. Two pools with virtually no room and a vast concrete no man's land between them.

Harrahs - 40s crowd with 40 something year old people's music.

I hear the Flamingo pool is fun, but have never been.

March can be a good month for pools, especially the last half of the month.

Thanks, Has anyone spent time at MGM, Luxor, or Flamingo? These were a few we were considering.

Not in March but in May/June:

MGM. Large pool complex with lazy river. Lazy river gets a little rowdy but the other pools are more sedate.

Flamingo: Has two pools, family pool and adult only pool. They are located next to each other but are separate. The adult pool is full of young partiers. A bit loud and rowdy. Lots of nice scenery.

I think the Flamingo pool is a lot rowdier on the weekends. When we were there (the adult pool) last month during the week it got crowded but wasn't real crazy. But it was 110+ which may have tempered things a bit. Luxor pool is ok but not as good as MGM or Flamingo.

Mirage all the way. This is my second trip here and loving it. Great Oasis, laid back but not boring, and good price center strip.

My wife usually likes the upscale Palazzo or Bellagio, but even she has bought in this trip.

MGM's pool is nice, but the property is too big for me. I don't need a 3 mile hike to my room. ;)
Flamingo has a nice (but sometimes really crowded) pool, but I don't like the hotel.
    Luxor's pool isn't that special.

Look at TI. I think they have a nice pool area, good hotel, decent gaming and comps for it's location and it may fit your budget requirements.

Bally's Blue Pool is big and nice for lower price range. But I enjoy MGM's pool complex. with multiple pools you can always find a nice quiet area to relax in the sun and sip on a nice Long Island Ice Tea... :)

Flamingo pool, young, old and older crowd. Total fun. Stand in line early to ensure a lounger in a decent spot. I was in line by 815am and there were quite a few peeps in line before me. Opened at 9am, but I scored a great lounger pool side. YES! There were quite a few available at 9am, but by 10am not so much.

Bally's is quiet, not many partiers when I was there, not too many peeps. More of a relaxing pool , maybe abit on the boring side, but those loungers are easy to get and it is one of the few pools that has a true deep end, BUT no diving. Anyway, not too many people is a nice change of pace in Vegas :)

Of these 3, I would rank the pools MGM first, Flamingo second, and Luxor third. MGM is the bets pool of the three by far. Its also the better overall property of the three

I agree that MGM is nicest hotel, Flamingo has best location & I would toss Luxor off the list--it has nothing over the other 2.
I'd still take a look at Mirage--better location, a bit smaller property than MGM & nicer hotel than Flamingo.

Thanks for all the input, one last question... Looking at rates this far out, when is the best time to book?
