    My Trip Report

So glad to finally get this trip going. It’s been a long road since my quadruple bypass surgery in December and I’ve had my sights set on this since I scheduled everything right before I went into the hospital. A little Vegas inspiration can go a long way!! I’m back to walking between 8-10 miles per day so I’m ready for all the walking that Vegas is (in)famous for.

I’ll be staying at the Golden Nugget in a Rush Tower room. This will be my last downtown visit for a while, looking to relocate on the Strip for future trips. Nothing against downtown, I love it there, but I only stay at the GN and it is getting the kind of “same old, same old” feeling. In November I’ll be at Delano and I’m psyched about returning to the strip.

Going solo, as usual, but I have some Vegas traditions to enjoy along with some other things to keep me busy. I do most of my gambling in the evening so my days are pretty wide open.

Lots of things planned, I’ll probably get the majority of these done.

    • Dennis Miller at the Orleans. Front row center. Can’t wait!!

    • Playing BJ or Craps at every casino on the strip and downtown. I’ll buy in for $200 and leave when I either am up $50 or down $50, unless I get on a heater!! I do this about every other trip. This usually takes the better part of three evenings.

    • Breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi. Love their French Toast.

    • Great Classic Rock cover band, Yellow Brick Road, at the First Street Stage on Fremont, Thursday night. They’ve been playing there for years and this is always a mainstay for me when I visit.

    • Limo ride on the strip for an hour or so one night to just soak up the sights.

    • Neon Boneyard at night.

    • Gamblers General Store, Spinetti’s and Lost Vegas Antiques.

    • So far I’ve got plans to meet with three fellow VMBers for a beer, food and blackjack. Hope I can meet some more VMB peeps. I’ll be wearing my green VMB wristband.

    • No trip, for me, is complete without some blackjack at the Golden Gate. Just something about that place……Hmmm. They also have some pretty good BJ games.

    • Craps at Caesars in their original casino. This is standard fare for me and one of my favorite things to do in Vegas.

    • Going to check out the new pool at the Plaza and hopefully I will notice that they have addressed the infamous long lines at the check in counter. I’ll report what I see.

    • This will be a Live TR with lots of pics. Last year I used Tapatalk but this time I’m going to use the VMB site directly. (Thanks Sonya for sharing how to post pics on VMB using a browser)

    • Each trip I get a sport coat at Hugo Boss. I’m going to get something wild and funky this year.

    • Peter Lik galleries are always a must do for me.

    • I taught myself some Icelandic to have some fun with the buskers, beggars and other annoyances. So far I have only mastered “Are you crazy, its Tuesday!!!” It is harder than one would think. Translation: Ertu brjálaður það er þriðjudagur

    • I’m going to treat myself to some really unhealthy food at Shake Shack. I’ve been really good since my surgery so I figure I’m due.
I can honestly say that I haven’t looked this much forward to a Vegas sojourn in decades. Win, lose or draw I’ll be having a helluva time and hope you enjoy the ride along with the Live TR.

Is there a chance of a "Minions" street performer being Icelandic? You probably could have picked an easier language. Go get em!

What a smart idea - walking the strip at night has always been one of my favorite things to do - you do it right!

Hope the wins outnumber the others and look forward to following what looks to be a great trip.

lol. That's why I picked Icelandic, I figure the odds of one of these types actually speaking that language are about the same as me winning that cherry red Shelby Mustang Cobra that's been at the slot bank at the 4Q for the last several years. Definitely don't want to get hassled by some working girl from Prague telling me my diction or syntax is incorrect.....lol. But I'll keep an eye out for those pesky Minions. ;)

Just checked, Icelandic Air doesn't have service to LAS. They do fly to Seattle, Portland, Chicago and New York. So, there could be some Icelanders in earshot should you try your little joke.

This sounds like a fun trip! A few questions:

    • Dennis Miller at the Orleans. Front row center. Can’t wait!!

    • Limo ride on the strip for an hour or so one night to just soak up the sights.

    • So far I’ve got plans to meet with three fellow VMBers for a beer, food and blackjack. Hope I can meet some more VMB peeps. I’ll be wearing my green VMB wristband.
Is Dennis Miller always on in Vegas?
How much is a limo per hour? Can you get convertible / open top ones?
Where can one acquire a VMB wristband?

Best of luck to you, looking forward to reading all about it!

This sounds like a perfect trip........have fun and win a bucket load of money !

Good job getting back in shape post surgery, when referring to Shake Shack with your cardiologist I think it translates in Icelandic to " Kale Smoothies " :):):)

Looking forward to the trip reports.
