Hello VMB'rs. I need some assistance. I am about to pull my hair out. The wife and I have planned our vacation to Vegas for months now. About a month ago, she broke 3 bones in her foot. Just called the doc today and they said it is still not healed yet to put weight bearing on it. We leave for Vegas in two weeks and we are staying at Caesar's. Getting around the casinos alone are going to be a royal pain. Does anyone have any ideas, experience, or suggestions on how to get through our 5 day trip? We have shows reserved and things paid for so cancelling is out of the question. FYI she does have an iWalk 2.0 which is better than crutches. Thanks for your help.

Scooter is the way to go. My gf had a similar problem twice in the past year and a half. Both times, we went with ScooterBug. Worked out well and she enjoyed the trips

Thank you Sonya. Thanks for the feedback as well UKFanatic. Thanks for the link from both of you. I am checking for updates as the original post was over 6 years ago. Wife thinks she can "hoof" it around as she forgets that Caesars is a walk in itself. She may need to just suck it up and go with the scooter.

Would a KneeRover be helpful for her? From what I've seen, you can get some speed going on those things, especially down a ramp with a tailwind.

A friend had one, and it seemed to be a bit more maneuverable than crutches and motorized chairs.

Crutches suck! Here's what I used when I broke my foot a week before last year's trip - only paid about $175 brand new and worth every penny. Notice the cool basket for carrying your winnings. Folds down quickly and fits in car trunk. Rode it right down the ramp when boarding our flights....

We use www.702scooters.com Rent the scooter on line it's less expensive than going through the bell desk. Tell them when and where and it will be there.

We have a Disneyland trip right before our Vegas trip. We have decided on a wheelchair as well as her iWalk2.0 to get through Vegas. She isn't too confident about the knee scooter. Wish us luck.

I also recommend 702 Scooters. Pick up and drop off are breeze. And if you rent a car they have some that break apart and fold for transport.

Remember to take whatever she needs for her bath or shower. Have you thought about a handicap room?

My wife broke her leg 3 years ago and had to have plates and screws surgically repair it.
That was 10 days before we left for New Years Eve in Las Vegas.
We arranged for wheelchair escorts at the airports and got a scooter as soon as we arrived at Aria.
Can't remember the exact price but I think it was something like $40-$50 day.
It worked out great. She even went to the New Years Eve party in a ln dress on her scooter.
    Everyone was very accomdating.

I think we should be okay without a handicap room. My biggest concern is getting around the casinos and on the strip.

You may want to reconsider and get a handicap room. At day's end your wife will be worn out from all the activities and the hassle getting in/out of shower/tub becomes stressful.

I broke my foot one week before we flew to Montana to attend a Custer battle reenactment which included some heavy duty hiking (in a boot) throughout the day - so tired by evening I couldn't even lift my foot to climb into the bathtub! Switched to a handicap room the rest of the trip - what a difference having a grab bar and seat in the shower made - easy to maneuver and didn't need any help into or out of shower.

I dont know about a 5-day trip, but if it was a two-day and we were only in and about a local vicinity, I would piggy-back my wife everywhere. lol. Seriously I would. A great workout too.
