    My Trip Report

This is my first trip report, and since i go to vegas so often, I don't bother to take pictures anymore unless something out of the ordinary happens. Any suggestions on what should be put into a trip report welcome!

Checked into the Mirage on thursday night. Was promptly booted out of the VIP lounge despite being platinum and invited. Checked in at the M life guest line to find out I was also bumped from my suite. Host warned me about this ahead of time, saying there were a lot of high rollers in town so I ended up getting a tower room. No big deal, room was clean and cozy. Also got $250 more in freeplay for being bumped and $100 in f&b. The parking changes at mirage were evident, with valet now scanning your M life card at drop off. Heard a few people infront of us complaining when told about the charge.

Ate at Pantry and Carnegies. Both were good. Didn't bother with room service since it comes from Pantry at jacked up prices and take out containers.

Friday night was Garth Brooks, the whole reason for the visit. The new T-mobile arena is fantastic with amazing sound. I was surprised at how comfy and roomy the seats were, and how quickly we were able to exit when the show was over. Garth is the man. His show was great, and he is a born entertainer. His stage was simple with not much in terms of pyrotechnics or graphics but he doesn't need any of that. He played all of his old hits and took some audience requests.

Slots at the mirage were tight and unkind.

Checked into Cosmo on saturday using a welcome offer through this board. Got a 1 bdrm terrace room with a gorgeous view of the fountains. The room was large, clean and modern. The casino was lively with plenty of games, but i found it extremely loud and crowded when the clubgoers came. There was nowhere to escape them since the hotel is built upwards instead of wide, so it was either going back to the room or grin and bear it to stay in the casino. The clientele are not my cup of tea (and i'm in my early 30's) so that ruined the experience. Everything from the lounge to the member desk was full of screaming, obnoxious and inebriated 20 somethings that made any conversations impossible to hear ontop of the very loud club music blasting throughout the hotel.

Ate at wicked spoon for dinner. Must say i was disappointed but i am a picky eater. Lots of seafood and asian dishes to choose from, very few italian and american stations. Dessert was mostly fruit flavored tortes or cakes. Holsteins was good burgers and shakes. Room sevice breakfast was your usual.

Garth apparently played an impromptu gig at Cosmo but I didn't know about it! Damn. The casino kept me going for a little, before finally taking it all. No jackpots or handpays anywhere. Big loser all weeekend.

Went to the spa at Flamingo for a massage using credits from social rewards. The spa was small and lacking in amenities so i don't recommend it. The massage was just ok.

Went to Shark Reef at mandalay to kill a few hours before switching hotels again. They had a new, limited time exhibit on sea monsters, but walk through time was around 60 minutes. Shark reef is a very small aquarium when compared to others.

Checked into NYNY on Monday until our late flight home. Definetely enjoyed NYNY the best. I was told they had a daily slot tournament Mon-thurs but when i went to get an entry, they said they don't run them in summer. Bummer. The casino is lively with high ceilings so the smoke isn't as bad, and they have the most popular slot machines. Drink service was good, and we had a great dinner at nine fine irishmen. Stsyed in s madison room which was basic but very clean. The a/c wasn't great so the room was hot but managable. Definetely returning to NYNY on my next stay.

I saw Garth here at home a couple of months ago; awesome show. I loved the one man show he had at Wynn. Was sad I couldn't take Cosmo up on the Garth Brooks tickets; when I received the offer I was already booked to go to Vegas July 9th.

Too bad you missed Garth at Rose.Rabbit.Lie; would have been wonderful to catch that.

I rarely go into NYNY, not sure why and I haven't stayed there since it was new. I'll have to make a point of paying a visit next week.

Kind of a bummer your room was downgraded at Mirage.

Did you try the angry mac 'n cheese at Wicked Spoon? It's my favourite item on the buffet.

Nice report. Doing Cosmo soon and actually a bit concerned with the saturday night portion with all the young rowdies. Will see how it goes. It too crazy, can easily go next door, or to bed. Sun-Mon-tue nights should be a bit better.

Sorry you couldn't get much going with the slots. And I also know that wicked spoon is not for picky eaters. Every thing my gf tried was either spicy or had some twist to it. She mostly filled on dessert. Lol

If you stick to the slot areas, it shouldn't be too bad. But common areas, table games, and bars, Saturday night at Cosmo makes me feel a bit old at 36. [emoji5]

I don't understand VIP lounges with Mlife. I was informed by Mlife rep that Platinum and above had access but I was booted out of NYNY lounge couple year ago. Prior year, I went in there for their chocolate! They told me I had to be Noir! Since then, I was more than welcomed in Monte Carlo and Mandalay. I am working my way to others as I go.

I did try the mac n cheese... it was alright, one of the few things i did eat but i choked down what i could just to get some food in me. I really prefer any other buffet over wicked spoon and i was disappointed. I absolutely love mgm and mirage's buffets.

I was incredibly annoyed with the atmosphere. It made me feel old, but more importantly my ears were muffled after leaving the floor. I didnt even enjoy gaming because it was so loud and i had to walk through crowds of drunks just to get to another machine.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, Chantelle. I will be following in your footsteps at Cosmo and Mirage in a few weeks - sorry you didn't get the suite at Mirage (I followed your other post). I too liked playing at NYNY last trip - agree less noticeable smoke there and good variety of slots.

It's a shame Mirage did away with traditional room service, used to love room service breakfast there. Mirage has been my home base for quite a few years.

Thanks for the good info on T-mobile arena. Fan of Garth, I have never seen him in concert - on my list!

Sadly that is one of the things I've noticed on my two stays - wish Cosmo had better separation of slot areas - it's hard to enjoy playing slots at that noise level, but aside from that I do enjoy playing at Cosmo.

I look forward to future TR!'s.

Thanks for the report. I just stayed at Cosmo in May and didn't encounter that. Although I was there Sun-Wed so that probably made a difference. I keep pretty early hours too. I agree about the wicked spoon. Not my thing. I ate at the Monre Carlo buffet and loved it. Sorry about the suite.

I'll be giving the Mirage another try in September with a comp night from myVegas.

These are hit or miss. Monte lets gold and up in, regardless if you are staying there. Most others are platinum and noir, or must be coded by a host. Usually i am coded at mirage but i guess being thumped from my suite also thumped me from vip. I didn't care too much about it as the lounge doesn't have much except coffee and some sodas, plus the lounge was busier than the m life line because of all the "high rollers". Apparently mariah carey made an appearance at the nightclub at mirage too so that could explain why it was extra busy that weekend. NYNY let me use the VIP lounge no problem. Seems crazy that i prefer a 3 star basic property like NYNY to the luxury mirage tries to offer, though i did buy a mirage pillow! I hope NYNY renovates their rooms soon just to keep up. Its a good property in a good location.

Not to hijack the thread but does Aria have a MLife VIP lounge? And, if so, where is it?

I agree. I stayed in Cosmo in the beginning of May, arriving on a Saturday, and I did not find it to be bad at all. But maybe I wasn't really paying attention. And even though I am 47 years old, I don't mind the younger crowd, as long as they don't start any trouble with people. They love to party in Vegas. And Cosmo being the hip place that it is, with the nightclub and beach club, it just attracts the younger folks. That is to be expected. Personally, I enjoy it. It is Vegas, after all!!
