Okay, Lebron haters. It's time to find another target, preferably someone outside NE Ohio. King James is one of the all-time greats, according to a guy who ought to know, and there is no finer man.

I'm SO disappointed that the whole series turned after Draymond called LeBron a 'bitch"! But while I'm now a 40 year Warriors fan, since we moved to the Bay, and rooted for them till the end, I still have "love" for the Cavs. I lived in Akron when the Cav's franchise was awarded to Cleveland. John Johnson, Bingo Smith, Austin Carr (my favorite), Lenny Wilkins (his late years) and others. Even though I'm sad that my Warriors made the wrong kinda "history", by dropping a championship-series they led 3-1, you just can't be a true NBA fan and not have marveled at the performance LeBron and Kyrie put on to win the title. Steph wanted the series to end... LeBron wanted a title!

I was 13 years old when the Browns won the championship in 1964. It wasn't the super bowl back then. How would I know then that it would take 52 years until I would see another one. When LeBron left us we were devastated. The fact that he came back and took us to the brink of a championship in 1 year and closed the deal in miraculous fashion this year is truly for the books. Thank you LeBron and the whole Cavs organization for bringing home the trophy to Cleveland and all of northeast Ohio.

I didn't hate him for basketball reasons; I hated him for his provincialism. I had to live in Northeast Ohio for three years, and I honestly could have accepted the bumpkin yokel element, if that's all it was. But no...they were defensive on top of it. CLEVELAND'S THE GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD!!!! Have you ever been anywhere else? NO!!!!! Why not? BECAUSE CLEVELAND'S THE GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD!!!! Lots of those types of conversations, where they were almost angry at people who were outsiders and thought Ohio was just another flyover state.

So basically I thought LeBron was just another "Brohio" redneck who couldn't handle the real world, and had to scurry back home to mommy and his hick friends who live a mile from the houses they were born in. That way he could feel like the King again.

I actually take nothing from the man in a basketball sense, and never have. To the contrary, I have always acknowledged his tremendous skills. My issue with him was cultural in nature.

Couldn't handle the real world? He's a future billionaire, so there isn't much street cred needed these days for LBJ.

Your description of Clevelanders would apply to people from every major city. A few years back with the SB champion Rams, Nelly and The STL Cards, and you would think that St. Louis was the epicenter of civilization. Dallas, LA, Chicago, Philly, Boston, Houston.... Same unfounded arrogance.

I guess I see what you're saying. I live in DC, and our identity isn't so tied up in a given sports team that we conflate athletic championships with the value of our city. I guess we're confident enough that we can root for teams without getting so caught up that we think our actual entire town allegedly becomes better if one of them wins.

DC is ok, as long as you can stand the fact that everything is political 24/7. Metro, Restaurants, Bars, Wizards games, Chinatown/Verizon Center, even as far west as Gainesville and Leesburg, people are just brainwashed into thinking that politics= lifeblood. I guess it makes sense, but that doesn't make it less annoying!

I do like McLean and Falls Church however. Vibrant burbs with great restaurants and every type of shopping and entertainment nearby.

I dont deny his skill even a little - I will deny and a be a hater of the way he handles himself and complains/argues with the refs on most calls against him. Jordan may have been booed by New York fans - but Lebron is booed at most arenas across the league. Sure everyone would love to have him, I get that...but even if I had him - I wouldn't be a fan of the constant complaining.

I call bullshit on this. D.C. area fans are among the most arrogant bandwagon jumpers I have ever seen.

Case in point, the Redskins. Ask any Redskins fan when was the last time they won the Super Bowl. They will all answer last week, when it was actually 1991.

And this year's Crapitals. I could have bet a million dollars they would not win the Stanley Cup this year or any year because they are the biggest choke artists in NHL history.

Don't get me started on the Nationals and their resident jerkoff, Jayson Werth. Neither the Nationals nor the Expos have ever won a playoff SERIES. And yet over the scoreboard, they fly the championship banners of 3 teams that are not them. Morons.

Great player no doubt. Plays hard on both ends. That block last night was spectacular. His teams are 3-4 in the finals. Don't care that he left and came back but "The Decision" was ******y. I'm happy for Cleveland fans, they've waited a long time.

Basketball is a team sport, and the Cavs team played better than the GSW team in Game 7.

I still hate Lebron though, I don't like his attitude or his arrogance. I don't like his whinny bitch ass complaints to the refs every play when he doesn't get a call. Complaining to the league to get Green suspended for Game 5... I guess he DID single handedly win the series for them in that sense.

He may be good on the court, but to be considered one of the "all time greats" , you need to be a good person and have some class off the court. See Messi for the poster child of "all time great"

I was never a "LeBron hater" until THAT particular fiasco.
Worse PR move any player of any sport could have ever made anywhere. His agent should have been fired after that.
PS - ESPN went down several notches in my mind after that as well.

My basic point is that Cleveland has more local residents, whereas DC has a much broader national/international element, so our collective identity cannot be captured by any one team. Your point about Caps fans is extremely well-taken, though. I have genuine doubts about the Redskins-related aspect of your argument. As for the Nats, the Senators are also part of Washington baseball history, and something that Baby Boomers value and enjoy seeing at the ballpark.

I don't know how anyone can complain about LeBron being arrogant and not say the same thing about Curry.
