    My Trip Report

Anyone who had read my posts in the past knew that the main reason for going to Vegas this time was to get married; the Wednesday prior to our leaving I got a VERY nice wedding gift from my lovely Bride to be. Tix to see the Stones on what undoubtedly could be their last tour. It was a first time experience for both of us. One word, Phenomenal! Side note done; on with the report. We stayed at Paris. In the excitement forgot to call Ambassador Check in #. Still we got their and was able to check right in. No line at all. Asked for and got a P room. Decent view of Bellagio from the twenty fifth floor. Bellmen very helpful, very prompt! My concern came from the fact that every other casino i've stayed at you had to show your room key to get upstairs. Not so here. I'm not sure why. Checkout was a DIFFERENT story.
Came down Sun morning our last day in town and saw a line a mile long and then saw a line of about three people. Promptly got in that line and was the next person to go to a window and at that time was told "oh no this isnt a check out line" "you'll have to go over there in the OTHER line" Well Im very cynical(sp) and hate using express checkout anywhere. But didnt want to waste time in a line this long on our last day in Vegas. I'll see if my cynicism is unfounded when the receipt comes.Maybe its just me but why make a man wait in a line for coffee while others take a half hour agonizing over pastry choices. Have a seperate line for people who know what they want. COFFEE!! Again just my opinion.
We are NOT big rollers and no big jackpots so I wont bore you with details; suffice it to say we got the most time and enjoyment out of the machines in Paris and Bellagio and the machines at Monte Carlo were just way too hungry.
My wife had never been to Vegas before so she wanted to see as many casinos as time and feet would allow, 29 in all. Her opinion was, Monte Carlo to Her is the epitome of what a Vegas casino should look like inside and out;Circus Circus, what a sty!! Has that end of the strip gotten seedier and more dubious than before. Actually felt safer downtown.
Our first night we caught a good portion of the Purple Reign show. Nice show for FREE. we were out on the floor and caught it. Might have felt cheated had we actually went in for the 2 drink minimum. And you can see and hear it just fine from the floor. Someone got hungry as we were at the boardwalk and wanted to eat; i advised against the buffet there but she was hungry so we got the prilosec ready and ate a burger and fries at the deli at the boardwalk; surprise!! wasnt too horrible actually for the money we paid was quite a deal. Buffets were kept to a minimum, only two. I wanted to go to the Rio's buffet since I had always remembered it as good and we were at the Flamingo when the urge for buffet struck again. We did the champagne brunch Sunday there. My wife says it best "whether you've got 300 items or 30 items you can only eat soo much food and in the end buffet foor is buffet food" We promised ourselves next time we would wait out the line at Paris to try their buffet. Perhaps that will make her change her mind about all buffets being the same. While we are in the food frame of mind here let me mention our post wedding meal at Hugos Cellar, waitstaff VERY attentive, hats off to Rick!! Food was standard to sub standard. Nothing to drool over. All and all Hugo's doesnt warrant a return visit to us. Also, why make someone get up from a dinner table and walk all the way across the casino for a restroom? Last two memorable food experiences, fried twinkie at Mermaids. She said she felt in need of a shower when we left there. And we paid out last respects to the "Ho" and got a "Ho Dog". Now THAT was a memorable experience!!! Sad to see the HO go. Finally Saturday nite gave my wife her wedding gift, tix for Tom Jones. What a show!! For a 65 y/o man he's quite the entertainer and ladies man. Well worth the small admission price. $70 bucks for any seat in the house. So from the Stones to Jones had quite an experience and she's chomping at the bit to go back!! She's a Vegas Virgin no more!!
