Has anyone ever been to a "first Friday"?
I've read that they close the Fremont mall area from 5-6pm for security, if your around the area, do you just have to stay in the casino your in for the hour? Is it crazy busy? We were thinking of going downtown Friday July 1st around 6, I'm wondering if that's the worst time to go, maybe we should get there before 5, or after 7? Any info will be appreciated !! Thanks in advance.

Are they still doing it? We used to go if we were in Vegas then, but it hasn't been downtown the last couple of years when we were there for the first Friday. Maybe it was the time of year, but I think it's now just in the Arts District.

You might be right, maybe they don't have it this year. Looks like 52 Friday's at the golden nugget instead?

I was there the first Friday of May. I was unaware til II tried to leave the casino and had to get a wrist band. I don't know why, I'm 70. It was the most crowded I've seen Fremont St. other than Halloween. Wall to wall, nuts to butts crowded.

52 fridays has nothing to do with first Friday. They have it spring through fall. Arts district. Shut down FSE to put up barriers for night. Was there last September and we went to hotel

I was also there the first Friday of May. Arrived @ the D about 7:30 PM. headed out to Fremont to walk to GG and it was packed. finally made my way to GG, found a table, and never ventured back out to Fremont.

We were just there on June 3rd for First Friday. I didn't really notice any difference except that you would be carded when walking onto Fremont Street when you leave a hotel/casino. They give you a wristband so you won't be carded again. We were told that it was for only 21 and older but saw a few kids still walking about. I assume they were there before they started carding everyone. I made the mistake of going to the bathroom at Golden Gate and coming out of the entrance closest to the Plaza, even though we already had wristbands we had to go through a security check where they used a wand and a lady felt up my purse.
