So I was able to book a trip in late August for free airfare ($49 one way tickets and used points!) and it will be me and my buddy's birthday trip. We want to splurge on the hotel room since we saved money on the flights.

We are trying to decide between two scenarios

    1) Corner Suite at Vdara (811 sq ft with kitchen etc..) that is connected to a regualar 500 sq ft deluxe room. Only reason we are doing this is because the suites at VDARA have only one bed. SOFA beds are uncomfortable and I wouldn't want either of us sleeping in them. This option comes out to about $700 total

    2) Book a 2 bed room tower suite at the mirage. This has the benefit of obviously two bed rooms in one suite...1600 sq ft..and also little cheaper..$681 total for two nights.

What we are wanting to do is relax by the pool during the day and gamble at night. I know VDARA doesn't have a casino and we are ok with that since we can get around the strip to gamble easily. I am concerned more with the rooms individually and the pools. Given that the price is the same and the pools come into play what would you choose?

We were also thinking of doing the regular two queens at the Aria for $490 total and saving the money for other stuff but the suite is only a little more so we thought we would splurge given that it is our birthday trip and we got free flights!

Any other options are welcome too! It's just two mid twenties guys.

    Thanks!

Im a little bias because i love the mirage but i would say mirage anyway. The tower suites are great. If you book a "suite life" package, you get other perks like a limo and vip lounge, but that might cost more if yu are using an mlife discount.

I cant speak for vdara as i've never stayed but i know the mirage suites have always treated us nicely, has a fridge, separate elevators, nice in room amenities. Their pool is one of, if not the best in vegas. Plus, theres a casino and is a quick walk to the strip if you want to go elsewhere.

Usually I would push for Vdara, but I think Mirage might be a better fit. I've stayed in the panoramic suite (basically a corner suite) at Vdara and the 1 bedroom tower suite at Mirage.

I think I would choose Mirage because...

-Better pool scene (multiple pools?), I know Vdara really only has one unless you get one of their cabanas.
-The Vdara room is nice, but it's kind of sectioned off in areas and would feel kind of tight with more than a couple of people hanging out. The Tower suite has a fairly open floor plan and a nice bar area. You could host a dozen people comfortably.
-Unless you need a full kitchen, I believe the Tower suite has an half fridge you can use for drinks.

On the other hand if it's just the two of you, do you plan on being in the room much? I usually book a suite for myself and I end up walking from the door to my bed most trips.

At your age I think you will prefer the Mirage. Great room and pool, and a decent casino.

I like a great hotel room, but.... depending on where your money is at. I also tend to not be in favor of sharing hotel rooms, but only two guys is not bad.

So, to me, the real question is:

Take the savings towards a room, or more degenerate gambling and drinking? Hmmmm

It is quicker and shorter to walk from the front door of Vdara to the back door of Aria than deal with the tram.

Still, I agree with you. I like taking the ELEVATOR to my room with zero issues of weather, time, etc. As nice as the Vdara rooms are, there is still that outside walk to gamble.
