    My Trip Report

Warning.. I'm a boring old lady so this isn't a wild ride or full of amusing stories. But I hope it is informative and may provide some info someone could use.

I used to take 3-4 trips a year but things at home changed so now it is just an annual trip. I did take a cruise and a trip to Atlantis but it just isn't Vegas. My birthday (June 1st) isn't usually this close to Memorial Day. Due to the timing and graduations it ended up as a solo which is alway fine with me.

I normally fly Delta but took American because of the cost/schedule. The planes (A319 & 321) are really bare bones. No power or entertainment. Changed in Charlotte which is much easer than Atlanta. Had the best FA ever from CLT to LAS. I fly first class. After take off she gave a little speach to first class saying she would come around to find out what we wanted to eat and drink and she would make sure our glasses were always full. If we don't want more to put a napkin over the glass. She stood by her word and it was a great flight. I had the vegetable ravioli for lunch which came with melon and prosciutto appetizer and a pretzel roll with lemon pie for dessert.

Apparently this was one of the former US Air planes.

I was ticked off at Presidential last trip as they were rushing me as soon a I arrived and tried to tell me I didn't have time to drive around the strip. I told him that was crazy. He had a real attitude but did it anyway. When I called to make a reservation I explained the issue last time and asked to book a time rather than for a specific flight. They didn't apologize for the bum's rush last time and refused to book for a time. So I called others and found Omni willing to do it. It was fabulous. Had time to stop in the bathroom, freshen up, put my iPad and headphones away in my suitcase to check it at the hotel and pick up a few splits of bubbly at the Liquor Library before meeting my driver at Starbucks. He was great. I asked for a ride around the strip and he took me all the way downtown and back. It was a great ride! We chatted about Vegas changes, best restaurants and current shows.

Arrived at Bellagio about 3:30 slightly tipsy and very excited. I use this as an excuse for a not too bright decision. I had a 3 night standard room comp as I'm a lowly low roller. They had noted my special occasion on the reservation and requested a fountain view. I've had great views the last two times I stayed there. In fact, last year it was for a friend's birthday on my comp and we had the perfect room on 36, the top floor. I asked at check in for a high floor with the view. I was told there were no views available. Really? I told him I already checked my luggage and was willing to wait so I can come back as late as necessary. He makes a call and says if I'm willing to wait I can pay $175/night as a "discounted upgrade" rate. It seemed a little steep to me. I've alway bought the suite upgrade at Mirage at less then $100 night. I took the upgrade but it wasn't ready. I asked if I could get the resort fees waived and he said he'd see what he could do. I know the offer I received in the mail didn't mention I had to pay them. Other offers I had said fees were not included. I wasn't charged fees but not sure if this guy arranged it or not.

He handed me the envelope without keys and said they would call or text when it was ready. I opened it and saw it was the 8th floor. My heart sank. I asked if he could get my anything higher. He said it was all he had. I hoped it would be nice anyway. I headed to the slots and received a call in about an hour. One of the front desk supervisors brought to keys to me in the casino which was a nice touch.

It as after 4 and I had a delivery set between 5 and 6 from Von's. I ordered water, snacks, peanut butter bread and a bottle of wine. They require a minimum $50 order and you get the first delivery free. They called at 5:30 to say they were on the way. I went outside to meet him and had the bell desk check them for delivery to the room. This worked out great. I also brought some cheese and crackers from home. I am an early riser so enjoy a peanut butter sandwich before heading down so I can drink immediately. I have wine and cheese every night to wind down.

After having a slice of pizza at the snack bar I headed for the room. I couldn't find it. None of the directional signs included 8001. I saw the sign for the ice machine and headed that way just to see where it was. That's when I found the hallway dedicated specifically for this suite. It is a Cypress Suite. It is 1500 sq ft with his/hers bathrooms, couch, dining room and bedroom in one large space. One per floor on the lower floors. I think this space is a different suite on upper floors. It is dead center in the curved section of the building. With elevators on one side and a maintenance closet on the other it was the quietist and most convenient rooms I've ever stayed in

It had good and bad points for me. Here are some pics.

Well, you know you are doing a good job with the trip report when people read what you have, and are extremely disappointed when they get to the bottom, and there is no more :). Very much enjoying your report. Interested to hear the good and the bad of the suite.

image.jpeg The space is fabulous. The view of the strip is vast but I could only see the top of the fountains going off. It does have a great view of the villa pools. I enjoyed the large jetted tub. It was very deep and perfect after a long day of walking. The steam shower is not my thing as I have a very small shower at home that is always steamy. I was disappointed that the view from the living and dining room was obstructed by the divider. It didn't have a refrigerator. I thought that was a big miss for a suite. I had not planned for a suite so brought a large collapsable cooler in my luggage which worked fairly well except for the many trips a day to the ice machine to fill up large ziplock bags with ice. Luckily it was very close. I did like that the bed directly faced the strip but when the tv was up it too was intrusive. I would have preferred the tv off to the side, above the desk.

I'm glad that I upgraded to a suite but I didn't think this particular suite was worth the $175 price tag. I think $100 would have been more reasonable. For a higher floor the full price would be worth it. I'm certainly not complaining. I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity to this unusual suite.

Here are views of the villa pools.

I don't have any great gambling stories. I did poorly the first day, had a few good hits the second and it just went downhill from there. VP didn't even net me one 4oak. Best I hit was a few full houses. I did ok at the craps table but always seemed like the other tables were having more fun than mine. I was the only one cheering for the shooter. By the time I went to play blackjack I didn't want to risk what was left of my stake to sit at a good table for any length of time and refuse to sit at a 3:2 $15 table. Here are a few of my better hits. All on my birthday!

Since I had great snacks in the room I didn't have any big meals. I had some RC and a buffet from my Vegas. I am not a fan of buffets but I'm a big fan of free. The buffet food was just ok. Never hot enough for me. I love a big salad and I think there salad bar is boring as is their charcuterie.

I was very impressed with the new snack bar. The mushroom pizza with a pesto sauce on a sprouted grain crust was very tasty. The hamburger and fries were good too. They serve breakfast until 11, which my lunch time. I order the bacon egg and cheese brioche which was to die for. If it didn't fill me up I would have ordered another. Now that I think about it, I should have and snacked on it later.

I had the high tea one afternoon. I had done it twice before but had a cold the first time and stomach issues the second. Third time's a charm. I could taste and enjoy it all. It doesn't look like much but I can never finish it all. They do pack up the left overs for you. The atmosphere is very enjoyable. The back of the Petrossian bar is lovely and quiet. I enjoy watching the people play the nearby WOF machines while sipping tea.

I bought a ticket to O and had a great seat. I had seen Love which was fabulous. I enjoyed O but not nearly as much. Maybe because Love has more of a theme with music I knew. I was not a fan of the music and felt the whole thing was a bit disjointed. I was surprised that much of the music and singing was live. Excellent touch. Of course the performers were amazing and with all cirque shows there is almost too much to look at. The way the stage changes is almost part of the show. It was fascinating. To me it was like the suite. I'm glad I did it but cost more than it was worth to me. This is view from my seat.

    image.jpeg

I had a wash/blow dry at the salon. I was quoted $90 but when I arrived the stylist said my hair was too long, it would be $100. She also talked me into a "treatment". The young lady who did the shampoo and treatment was friendly and did a wonderful massage. The stylist was good and my hair looked great. It took only about 40 minutes.

I had a red eye flight Friday night so called Thursday to get as late a checkout as possible. Noon was all they could do since it was a suite. Seemed reasonable, every little bit helps. I had the limo set for 8pm and my flight was at 11. I receive a call from the desk at 9:30am asking when I was checking out. I told her I had a noon checkout. She said she saw that and did I want bell service. I said yes I would check my bags for a late flight. She said she would send them at 11:45. At 11:30 the doorbell wrang 3 times followed by 2 knocks. I opened the door and it was a housekeeping supervisor. She asked when I was leaving, they needed this room. I was a little annoyed. I said I would be gone in a few minutes. She burst in and started to do a room inspection. I used to work in the hotel business and always leave my room spotless. All garbage is in cans, dirty glasses in one area, towels hung or in a neat pile for laundry and all my personal items put away. After I packed I put all the extra water, soda and other left over food on the table so housekeeping could take it. I also leave a daily tip. When this lady came in I told her of a light out. She started her inspection calling over the radio for touch up paint on the door, high dusting, Windows, etc completely ignoring me. I stared wondering why I didn't get the perfect room. I noticed all the things she was noting but didn't make a big deal of it. Nothing major or gross. Finally she asked which light was out. I found her fairly rude. The bellman arrived and I offered him the extra food. He took the water and I followed him out. This lady never said another word to me.

I wanted to keep what was left of my stake to help pay for my $700+ bill so I wondered around playing 35-50 cents on machines and 1 on quarter VP. After a few hours I realized I'm not the minimum bet kind. It was still fun but not as much fun to me to win $10 rather 100. I had a late lunch at the Bellagio Cafe and decided at the last minute to take the tram to Aria for a change of scenery. Seemed like a good idea at the time. When I got there I looked in my wallet and I had a bunch if TITOs and chips from Bellagio. Duh. The machines wouldn't take the TITOs but I thought I might be able to turn in the chips at the cashier. Then I realized it might be a sign to keep my money. I blew what little cash I had on some machines they don't have at Bellagio so it was fun. I got back around 7, had one more slice of that great mushroom pizza and met my driver right at 8.

I don't sleep well on any trip and this was no exception. Didn't sleep well on the plane either. I arrived home Saturday at 10am and took a 4 hour nap. I was tired enough to sleep another 7 hours last night. I finally feel rested.

I had a fabulous birthday. There is nothing like Vegas. I will remember this one for a while. Now that I finally got to enjoy the high tea and had a suite at Bellagio maybe I'll try a different hotel next time. I didn't quite make gold for next year so we will see what offers arrive.

If you read until the end, thanks! Of course I will bore my friends and family with my photos and details but only true "Vegans" will understand.

Great TR, a really good read and thanks for all the details, they are really important as I do not visit Vegas very often. That housekeeping lady deserves a mention on Trip advisor as I would not have been happy being treated like that. Do they realise we are the guests?

Great concise TR, thanks for sharing. I had a Penthouse Suite during my last stay at the Bellagio and needless to say I wasn't impressed with how an issue (housekeeping) with the suite was handled and escalated it to management. That takes time away from gambling and I am on vacation with limited time. Like someone else already said here, they need to remember that we are their customers. For those that get this, I always say; "someone will always take my money." I will be staying at the Bellagio at the end of this month so hopefully I won't encounter the same type of service or it will be time to give my hard earned money to a different property. Sorry you didn't have a good run of gambling for your B-day but at least you were celebrating it in LV!!! lol. Again, I appreciate the pics and the summary.

Enjoyed your report and glad you had fun except for that one
lady. That is one of the reasons I can't bring myself to change
from Caesar's. I know most people seem to like Bellagio better, but
I have always had such nice people when I have stayed in a suite at
Caesar's. They send a guy to welcome me, bring me goodies, and
always do a great job of cleaning the room. I have never felt rushed
to leave and always had great service while staying there.

Yes - the suite I had in the Augustus Tower last trip was not quite as
fancy as the one you had by any means, but it was nice, clean and
everyone was friendly the whole visit. I am sorry she treated you that way.
There is no excuse for that.

I have heard that from several people that have stayed at Bellagio in suites.
One guy I knew had one of the Villas and wasn't treated as well as we thought
he should have been. Yes it was beautiful, but housekeeping had some problems.
I'm not a High Roller at MGM so I'm sure they wouldn't care about my business one way
or the other, but you paid extra for that room and she should have given you respect, if
nothing else., as a guest. At least she could have been pleasant to you. Totally unacceptable.

Thanks for sharing your birthday with us.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Nice room, but sorry you didn't get the full fountain view. The housekeeper was rude and you handled it with grace. Once I indicated I was leaving at noon, she would have had to come back after I left the room.

I've always wanted to try high tea but hubby doesn't drink hot beverages or sparkling wine so it would be a waste with him. I'll have to try it on a solo trip. Looked yummy.
We had a suite for my 50th, was very surprised there wasn't a fridge. Even Paris and Bally's jubilee rooms have a small fridge, but like you, we travel with a collapsible cooler.
Glad you had a good birthday .

Great report! I love how you roll! My mother is joining me for my birthday trip in August and while I normally have snacks in the room, it's things like breakfast bars. I like the idea of having some cheeses and other items delivered. I've stopped at Liquor Library before and will do so again this trip. I've had tea at the Bellagio before and your photos reminded me of how much I enjoyed it so I think I will have tea there again after we visit the conservatory.

I was pissed at reading about the housekeeping supervisor. You were way too kind. I would have kicked her out and said she needs to return after I have checked out.

    Most important, happy belated birthday!
