We're going at the end of June, will there be a lot of them around at that time?

Mosquitoes need standing water and humidity to breed. Laughlin - very low humidity and no standing water. Just the river that keeps flowing. So no, you will probably never see a mosquito. In Vegas, for sure you will never see, or feel one.

No Zika in the desert if that is your concern.

Cheers. Not so much Zika, more just being bitten to bits!

No worries, not in the desert. You may not even run into a house fly out there when dining outdoors.

Well no mosquitoes, but I saw lots of flying bugs during my trip in April. They were mostly around the river walk area, and were neither mosquitoes nor flies. But there were tons of them and were quite annoying. Don't know what exactly they are called, they didn't bite but they were just running into your face. I noticed them closer to sunset time, not during the day, or night.

Been there twice this year so far. Been many times. No mosquitoes but as previous mentioned... the dang river bugs are absolutely crazy! Have been bad the last couple years. We use to always use the river taxi for an all day adventure and now don't or just go to one place and back. These bugs are just by the river. They swarm your face, get in your hair, on your clothes. We actually found some we took with us back to the room. Makes it a bit disappointing as you can't enjoy one of the cool things about Laughlin... the river. We we're actually looking to rent a place on the river for the winter and those dang bugs stopped that idea. It's too bad. They really need to try to do something about it.

    Just found this.. http://knpr.org/knpr/2016-05/caddisflies-plague-colorado-river-laughlin

Hmmmmmmmm, that's not so good. Mrs Mikey doesn't like bugs of any sort!

    Thanks.

Keep Mrs. Mikey in the casino where the smoke drives off all flying creatures.

Mrs. Mikey will still enjoy Laughlin. The bugs don't stop us :) Perhaps you could go check by the river first (or ask around) to see if they are still around or out at the time of day you might like to venture.

    Where are you staying?

We'll be at the Aquarius for 3 nights midweek. We'll be the only ones there

Aquarius is nice. That is the place we made our one boat trip to last time. We are Harrahs players and always stay there as comped flight and stays. We always say Aquarius would be our choice if no comps and usually make a trip there when in Laughlin. So you know, the area outside by the river is far enough up and away from river that there were no bugs there. My hubby actually went down to the boat drop (where they were crazy) and flagged me to come when the boat was coming. We sat outside the Aquarius near the river walk by the casino at a lounge and on a bench right by the walk. No bugs. You'll be fine if you stay up there. :) You also should be okay to walk to near by casinos too. Got to hit the Riverside next door that started it all in Laughlin. Older school kitschy. We love to sit at the bar playing VP over looking the river there. Has a nice auto museum for a diversion. Free if you get a players card. Have fun!

Sorry, double replied in adding pic. This is where we sat outside Aquarius. Also on the bench up near the walk.
