My husband and I are celebrating our 35th anniversary this month, and want to plan a long weekend to LV in the Fall some time. We have been to LV once before about 5 yrs ago, and stayed at the Venetian, which was fun. We want to stay on the strip (I think), and I really like nice hotels. I guess we could spend up to $200/night, although we got the Venetian for $60/night five years ago, and hoping for another awesome deal, with flexible travel dates. We are casual type people, but really like enough space and upgraded amenities in a hotel. We LOVE balconies. Any balconies? We will gamble a little, see some shows, and chill.

    Thanks for any advice!!

Well, you might be able to score one of the top hotels for $200/night, but you won't find anything like that deal you got last time! (Unless, of course, you have some gambling history that would get you comps or deals from the casino.)

Venetian/Palazzo and Aria are probably your best shots at finding something sub-$200 among the top tier places. Less likely would be Wynn/Encore, Bellagio and Cosmopolitan. Especially considering the fact that every place now charges a resort fee - $30+/night for the high end places.

All of the above will offer plenty of room (Venetian/Palazzo, Wynn/Encore and Cosmo having the largest standard rooms). Wynn and Encore have the best service, IMO. And only Cosmo has balconies.

Since it doesn't sound like gambling is a priority, you should check out Vdara and Mandarin Oriental as well. Both seem to get very high marks from what I've read. But as I'm a degenerate gambler and they don't have a casino, I never consider them so I can't comment. (I doubt Mandarin Oriental could be had for less than $200/night unless you score an incredible deal, though.)

I'm a huge Wynn/Encore fan and like Cosmo a lot too. The balconies at Cosmo are definitely nice. If the balcony is important to you - and you don't mind hanging out with the younger demographic - Cosmo might be worth increasing your budget a bit.

If the $200/night budget is non-negotiable and you can't find a deal, you might also check out Mandalay Bay or Delano or something off strip.

Not a Strip person, so no help to your question. But congratulations on #35!
My wife and I will be celebrating #35 in October.

    All good suggestions from thecarve.
Not sure of your dates in the Fall but it can be very busy with business meetings and conventions which will increase prices.
Sounds like VDara is a great fit. Reasonably priced for very nice rooms/suites. Great location also.
Start looking at prices now and lock in a rate with a hotel. If prices drop you can call and get a better rate.

The best balcony option is the Cosmo--I highly recommend. DM 70 & I stayed a few years ago & it's our fav now! BUT $200/nt may be tough on a weekend (tough at Venetian too), more likely to be found during week

Check a rate calendar at the Cosmo, rates can vary wildly based on what's going on in town, you may be able to squeeze under $200 for a Terrace Studio if you book soon. Agree w/above that Aria/Vdara are a good bet as well. Not quite up to Venetian/Palazzo level standard rooms but nothing to sneeze at and the location is great.

It is not as good a location but, if a balcony is a priority, take a look at the MGM Signature as even the one bedroom suites often go for less than $200. Rooms look very nice but I haven't stayed there so couldn't be sure. Would be surprised if even the least expensive balcony rooms at the Cosmo would ever go for less than $200 over a weekend.

Prices can vary at nice hotels from $70 to $700 in the same week for the exact same room. Look at monthly rate calendars before setting dates.

"Really nice" means different things to different people. I will say that the prices somewhat represent the relative level of the rooms. Some earlier suggestions are for high end and a bit overboard unless you really want to spend extra.

You said "long weekend" and then you also said "flexible travel dates." If you can pull off a during the week trip like say Sunday to Wednesday or something, Then that would help with cheaper hotel rates and I would highly suggest cosmopolitan studio with a west facing terrace. You will get a beautiful room with plenty of space for two people and a wonderful balcony with one of the best views in vegas overlooking the Belagio fountains. Plus it is a great location in the middle of the strip.

Check into Signature at MGM, great suites with balconies. Quiet not too far from casino. I just spent last week at Vdara which was excellent. Nice pool, good bars and a short walk to Aria and Bellagio.
