What casino or casinos in Laughlin...

What casino or casinos in Laughlin are the best ones to visit if you are only going there for a day trip? Also, can you recommend a nice restaurant in Laughlin for lunch? Thanks!!!

 

We stayed at Harrahs and I didn't like it at all. We were there for 4 days and didn't hit a single thing. Not just me all 4 people in my group complained of how tight the casino seemed.

My favorite casino we played at was the Aquarius. Big open casino. I just really liked the layout.

As for lunch we ate at golf courses every day so can't help much there.

There is a "strip" of casino's in laughlin, but they are more spread out than in vegas. All are located on the Colorado river, except for tropicana which is just across the street. Harrah's is at the far Southern End and up a fairly big hill. You can walk from the casinos but it is a pretty good hike between them. I personally prefer Harrahs (as long as you have a car), as it has multiple towers, multiple pools, a nice beach area, multiple food/dining options, a nice poker room, a little fast food court, etc. Guy Fieri has a resteraunt there and I have heard good things about it, but not eaten there myself. They also have a nice diamond lounge that overlooks the colorado river. They have a Range steakhouse that is excellent, and priced as you would expect a high end steakhouse. The buffet is very good, but slightly smaller than you would find in Vegas. Depending when you are going and your total rewards level, you can usually always find comped or low price rooms and usually some small free play and meal offers.

The Golden Nugget is quite nice, but smaller is size. They have some dining options like Bubba Gump, etc. The acquarius is near the center part of the strip and know many people who enjoy it there and they say they have good luck. The Riverside is at the North End and has good gambling conditions, and very affordable.

Fun but nice casino: Aquarius is your best choice. If you don't like it here, you can take the river walk down to Edgewater, Colorado Belle, Pioneer, or even the Golden Nugget. It's a nice walk along the Colorado River; just don't try it afternoons in June or July, you'll roast.
Across the street is the only casino on that side: Tropicana Express. Fun casino, nice inside, but quite heavy on the toasted coconut air scent they spray there. They have an In-N-Out Burger in the parking lot there; always busy.

Nice lunch would be at the Prime Rib Room at Don Laughlin's Riverside Casino. Great prime rib, smoky casino full of locals, but fun.

 

I love laughlin. No real fancy strip type places. i guess aquarius and harrahs would be about the closest to that. funny that they are both my least favorites. if i want fancy, i will go to the strip. Older clientele but that doesnt mean its not fun. i have a great time there. just booked the tropicana for june trip this morning. $30 per night no resort fee. sure, its not the Wynn but what do you want for $30? it wasnt even the cheapest either but i like the people there and there is a liquor store in the parking lot so i need that as well as in and out.

lots of freindly people in laughlin. just a laid back place.

 

Laughlin is nice, pretty mellow, which is fine by me evey once in a while for sure. I played VP for a while at the Edgewater, then ate in their coffee shop. Really friendly staff. I also did the river walk, it's nice to walk riverside to the different places.

I drove down last October midweek........I left 10:AM ish to avoid any Vegas traffic and was there by noon easily. The landscape is way different for me and I enjoy that aspect of the drive. As you drop down to the river there is a big dam you can exit and check out. The Davis Dam according to my map. There were shade structures and tables by the base of the dam, must be a park. Pretty nice if you do stops.

You can do a loop down and back, Hiway 95 down from Vegas, and then back up on 93 through Kingman. It adds a half hour or so to the round trip.

The main thing I liked about going to Laughlin is you just get out of your car and you are back in a casino !

We just got back last night from 3rd Laughlin trip in 6 months. We go pretty frequently. To be honest, with a car you could quick check out all of them pretty easily in one day. A more (perhaps) fun option would be to start at one end or the other, either Harrha's (our home) or Riverside and purchase the all day river pass taxi up and down to hit as many as you can. We usually do this once every trip and hit them all having a bit o play and cocktails at each. Sometimes trying some where new to dine. Once in awhile we skip one or two if having toooo good a time. The boats are pretty quick and a nice way to go between casinos. Some are a bit of a trek if walking, the boat is just fun/ different and if you like, visit with other passengers or driver (captain?) for dining ideas too. Be sure to check hours as I noted a couple of restaurants mentioned are only open for dinner and you said lunch. Have fun!!!!

I would have added some restaurants but not sure of what you are looking for (sandwiches, salads, Italian, seafood, buffet, cafe' or steaks and so on) and your budget. Also when you are going as some restaurants are closed during the week for lunch but do open for lunch on the weekends or holidays. Again, check hours.

I'm loyal to the Belle. If I stray, I walk over to the Edgewater. I like to maximize my comps by keeping my play in the family. When it comes to food, though, I like Riverside best. Casa Serrano, Prime Rib Room & the Gourmet Room are all good options.

 

I really like the Golden Nugget and Aquarius, Harrah's is also nice and has a big non-smoking section as well as the best buffet in town. I also try and stop in at the Pioneer for awhile while I'm there, it's far from fancy, but has a great old school vibe to it.

 

The Prime Rib Room is not open for lunch. I believe they open for dinner at 5 PM. It helps to have a reservation.

 

We're going for 3 nights at the end of June and plan on using the water taxis quite a bit. We'll be there midweek so we're expecting it to be really quiet!

We've also got a day trip to Kingman and Oatman lined up.

We picked the Aquarius on the basis of reviews we read.

 

The only casino in the Laughlin area that I've ever done well at is the Avi, which is a native casino several miles south of the Laughlin strip. There's also a "secret" bridge to the Arizona side in the rear of the casino.

The most memorable thing I can think of during my few trips to Laughlin was the colony of feral cats on the rocks by the river. I remember sneaking food out of the buffet for them.
