    Hey All,

Does anyone still use one of these that were popular in the 90s?? Just read they were making a comeback. My wife would kill me if I used one but I have to admit, it would be perfect for Vegas.

Just curious what the seasoned VMBers think!

If it fits your needs, do it. Nobody is going to care and maybe you can convince your wife of its value.

Thats the one city that nobody should feel out of place. Thats what most of us love about it. Where else can you see a girl in a bikini driving a hover round down the strip with her girlfriend on the back holding a hurricane?

I have double dorked out a couple times in the past with a fanny pack AND cargo shorts.........needless to say I did not have to keep GQ at bay.

I used to carry a camera and binocs for birding so my sunscreen and stuff was already in there, they are great if you have a lot of odd size stuff. I carry a small day pack now, holds water bottles better.

Rock whatever you want, well........except for socks and sandals, you will never hear the end of that.

.....where is the girl in the bikini ?

I wouldn't wear one at home, but I used to love mine in the early 90's and I think they'd be great in Vegas!

(ok, just googled "glitter fanny pack" and there is a whole etsy store devoted to them)

    Hey Now!
I've been using a sling backpack for years. I recently upgraded to this.

I would never wear one. That being said, I don't give it much thought if I see someone wearing one. Lots of other things are way more noticeable, especially in a place like Vegas, so it's not like a fanny pack will make you look extremely weird or anything.

I wear one sometimes back home, but always in Las Vegas - I find them handy for holding stuff like phone, camera, cigarettes, my "little vegas wallet" (where I keep room key, slot club cards, a bunch of $1 bills) and a few other things that otherwise I'd have to carry in my hands or stuff in to my pockets so it looks like I have saddle bags on.

For them being fashionable or not: I really just don't care what is and isn't in fashion. Odds are I am wearing a collared shirt, a pair of shorts, white socks and some walking shoes... not really a fashion statement being made there. If I was going out to a business dinner and had on my best suit, dress shirt, slacks and shoes I wouldn't be wearing one.

I had no idea cargo shorts were not cool. Is this the consensus? Did they go out of style recently? That is all I wear.

Not as far as I'm concerned JWB..........if I am not working I am in cargo shorts or cargo pants.......some of my nieces and nephews however have said cargos are out of style, with a modicum of pointing and laughing.

Hey, as far as I am concerned form follows function and cargos are the best for going anywhere, well almost.

    Long live cargos !

I have a cross-body messenger bag for Vegas. I have too much stuff for a fanny pack.

I have heard that years ago when it was popular, thieves would go with a razor blade and cut it off of people's waists. I guess it could be easier to steal than having a handle bag over your shoulder and tucked under your arm.

It was cargo shorts AND a fanny pack. Kinda defeats the purpose of wearing a fanny pack dontcha think?!?!

Hell I wear a blazer in summer I don't care what people think. AC is great and pockets even better.

Do what works for you and remember nobody cares. Really nobody....

First, let me say that I couldn't care less what you folks wear. (And even if I did, you shouldn't give a damn about what I think anyway.) So have at it! Get your fanny pack on if you're so inclined!

But I do have to ask...are you people camping on the strip? How much stuff do you need to casino-hop that it won't fit in two pockets and a wallet?:poke:

I'm guilty for cargo shorts for the exact reasons one would use a fanny pack. Would never, ever use a fanny pack. Wear what you're comfortable with

Indeed, it's not a summer-long hike of the PCT! iPhone back left, (slim) wallet back right, sunglasses, money in clip up front, small eyedrops and chapstick in the other. WTF else do I need?!? Top Ramen and a can of Spam? If I've driven and parked some place I put the valet key in my (slim) wallet though even packing my keyring that would be only one car key and one house key.

Were cargo shorts ever in? I guess skinny dudes could pull them off, but why? For us big boyz, never never don't ever go there. We need a Kelty expedition backpack at each corner and down the sides, why?!?

P.S. Clydesdales ... lose the pleats. Trust me. And avoid a jarring color contrast that explodes at the belt. Trust me. Monochromatic and particularly dark are your friends. Trust me.
