Smoking At Palazzo / Venetian

Can someone please advise if staying at the Palazzo or Venetian, actually how smokey it is? Do the public areas smell too much of smoke etc.? I can get a non-smoking room which should go some way towards my aim, but would like any advice. I have seen MO (over the top price) and Vdara (looks ok) and would like alternatives. Thank you

Anyone know if MO actually have any real discount offers on rather than the one night stay and B&B offers?

 

Stayed at the Venetian in March and I found it to be very smoky. Night and day between there and my usual hotel Cosmo.

 

I've stayed at both in the non smoking rooms, I didn't smell any smoke at all. Unless you plan to only stay in your room, you will smell smoke somewhere. I'm not a smoker and it doesn't bother me that others smoke. I know coming to Vegas, that is a part of the atmosphere. The only place I really notice is Harrah's because the low ceilings and the smoke is thick in there. I still play there but don't stay long.

 

V/P is our main haunt, and we're non smokers, and while smoke doesn't bother us per se, we prefer not to be surrounded by smoke, and if it gets bad we'll go walk around outside for a while. In the last 2 years we've been to V/P 7 times. On 6 of the 7 trips smoke was completely a non-issue for the most part. I can honestly say I didn't even notice it. Keep in mind you're going to have that person that sits next to you at a table or bar or slot and starts chain smoking. Then you have the option of walking away and avoiding the smoke. The only times smoke is an issue for me is when I can't escape it on the casino floor.

On our most recent trip, we were bothered by smoke in Venetian a bit. Palazzo was totally fine. Both facilities have good ventilation, but Palazzo is a bit more cavernous so the smoke dissipates more. Palazzo also tends to be a bit less crowded and is a bit less touristy. Venetian has somewhat lower ceilings and I found more people there smoking on our last trip. Like I said, it had never been an issue prior to that trip. It still wasn't bad, just on several occasions my wife and I commented on how much more prevalent the smoke was.

Both are much better than the older places with poor ventilation that pump gallons of fragrance into the air to counter the smoke stench. You notice that at Harrah's Flamingo and LINQ a lot.

At both, outside the casino, smoke isn't an issue at all, the public areas are all non smoking, and I've never smelled smoke in our non smoking room one bit.

But its Vegas, people will smoke in any casino and on the street, etc.

 

What Fuzzy said. Smoke hasn't been an issue for us at V/P unless someone sits down next to us and lights up.

 

Have never had any smoke issues in any of our non smoking rooms. Restaurants are smoke free.
Venetian isn't bad compared to some, but smoke is noticeable near the main aisles and tables especially when crowded.
Palazzo, as others noted, smoke is barely detectable unless directly next to a smoker.

 

Non-smoking rooms at these higher end hotels are never an issue.
The public areas (mainly casino floor) only smell of smoke if you walk direct next to a smoker, else it has never bothered me or hindered me from enjoying the hotel.
It is definitely not as bad as Palace Station.

 

I haven't found either of these places to be smoky. You may need to relocate occasionally, but overall not a big problem at either place!

Regarding rates: There's a 25% off discount if you sign-up for their emails. They regularly provide a 25% off pre-paid rate. Imo, that rate is really worth it.

There's also a $150 resort credit rate but the 25% off is greater than that rate and given that Vegas taxes are 12% on rooms, I'd go with the lower rate.

 

Agree with all the above. I've really only noticed it when sitting next to a smoker, but Venetian can get super busy when a convention lets out of the Sands expo center. I wouldn't consider it smokey even then. Palazzo never seems packed. Regardless, they are beautiful properties and IMHO the nicest "basic" rooms on the strip. Never had a whiff of smoke in the rooms.
