    My Trip Report

    Sunday 10th

So this is my rearranged trip that I should of taken in Feb, so as you can imagine I’ve waited a bit longer for this trip than planned. I usually fly with Thomas Cook but as this was a bit short notice I couldn’t get a direct flight with them so I switched to Virgin Atlantic. I checked in which was easy as I was travelling in Premium Economy.
The seating is good and so was the service and the entertainment channels were good as well with some good movie choices. I watched Spectre and The Force Awakens. I’m a big Bond fan and it didn’t disappoint, as for Star Wars 7 well it was an ok film.
We touched down at around 1.30pm and once off the plane I headed quickly toward immigration but before I did I noticed one of the biggest holes in the ground outside the E2 gate. I don’t know what they are digging for but it is one big hole. Immigration was a bit slower than usual as there was another international flight that had arrived just before us.

Once through there was some more delay because the luggage carousel had stopped as there was too much luggage on it as a lot of people were still waiting in immigration. I was a lucky one as mine had already come out although it took 3 walks around the carousel to find it.
I came out of the terminal and there was a total of 5 people in the taxi line, so didn’t take long to get a cab and I headed Downtown to the D. Check in was easy and I was on the 26th floor but on the side of the tower that looks out to the FSE. The room was nice and very modern.
I unpacked and got showered and headed out and decided to walk up to the Golden Gate and get the VP going. It doesn’t get going really and after about 90 mins I’m down and decide to quit it. I go on to Fremont Street for a wander around before heading back to the D as tiredness is kicking in.

I get back to my room and hit the bed and I’m away fairly soon and I awake about 10.30pm. I get freshened up and head out to on to Fremont. I walk to Golden Nugget and I have a couple of beers at the bar next to the sportsbook. I get a text from Elaine and Tony (Pebbles). We had exchanged contact details prior to them flying out to Vegas and said we would arranged a meet when I got there. We arrange to meet on the Strip Monday afternoon.
Then it’s a walk to 4 Queens for one before I go back to the D for the rest on the night. After a while a woman sits next to me and makes some conversation, she then tells me she’s a qualified masseur and offers her services, I decline. I have a couple ore beers and it’s off to bed.

Crap. He had second thoughts, ordered a massage and it was an undercover cop! It might be a good report but not the general trip report we are used to reading......and his trip ended yesterday.....

    Monday 11th

I was awake for 10am and went down in search of food and got a hot dog and fries from Coney Island. I got myself a D player’s card, which I tried to get on the Sunday only to be told that they don’t accept European drivers licence as I.D and I couldn’t be bothered to go back to my room for my passport. After finally getting the card I went to the Long Bar and see how it goes. VP doesn’t go to well.. I took my passport back to my room and then grabbed a cab over to Tuscany for some VP and a drink or two. I then walked up to Paris and had a drink at Gustevs bar. It was a walk across to Flamingo next but on the way I had a walk around the Grand Bazaar shops which I have never done. There are a few coming soon signs on some of the units.

After a drink in Flamingo I met Elaine and Tony at Cromwell and we had a chat and it was nice to meet them and I hope we can sort another meet if we are in Vegas at the same time again. I then made my way up to Tilted Kilt for a drink and then across to O’ Sheas. In there I got talking to a guy from New Mexico and we discovered we had something in common, we were both petrol heads.
He has a Shelby Mustang and I have an Audi TT so we talked cars for a while. After I left him in O’Sheas I went over to Harrahs and caught some of the Big Elvis show at the piano bar. When that finished I went up to the box office and got a ticket for X Country for Tuesday. Next it was T.I to get something to eat at the coffee shop café and it’s had a new coat of paint since I was last here.

I had the spaghetti and meatballs which is filling and after that I play some VP at the bar before it’s time to head back Downtown. It’s a wash and change and I’m over to the Golden Gate for most of the evening. I have a walk over to Downtown Grand for a couple of beers although it is fairly quiet in there. I head back to The D for a few late beers and watching the working girls at the bar.

    Tuesday 12th

I was awake and up for about 11.30am and my first port of call was Coney Island for a hot dog and a coke to get my day going then off to the Long bar in the D. I hit the VP while also watching two champion’s league games they are showing on the screens opposite me. After about an hour a girl sits next to me and says hi. I say hi back and that’s about it. A couple mins later she starts a bit of a conversation with me, the usual where you from etc. I started to wonder if she was on the make or just being friendly. It just threw me a little as it was coming up to about 1pm and seemed way to early for that. I cashed out and got ready to move on and just before I left she asked the question and I declined her offer.

Next it was over to El Cortez for a few beers and some VP which goes better than it had been going. I have a walk around on Fremont after leaving Cortez and end up in the beer garden at the Plaza. It’s just the one in there and I call in at Fremont for a couple of beers and by now I’m getting hungry.
I decided to try the steakhouse at the D, I walk in and bearing in mind I’m wearing t shirt, 3 quarter pants and a cap. So when I get inside I feel a little underdressed as the waiters are dressed like James Bond. It is a nice place and I had the porterhouse steak which tasted great and was very filling. Before the steak they bring you a bread basket, some cold veg stuff and something that I think was a small portion of spaghetti. As you can tell this is not my usual kind of dining place.

It was back to the D and a bit of a rest before getting changed and having a later start to the evening by heading to the Strip. I got to Harrahs and went up to queue for the X Country show. I have never gone to a burlesque in all the times I have been to Vegas so I thought I would see what it’s all about.
The show was about an hour long and it was good, the music, the dancing and of course the girls. There is a comedian who does a 10 minute spot in the middle just to break it up a little. I might try the X Rocks at the Rio on my next visit.
I head back to Downtown and have a few beers in Golden Gate before ending up back at the D for the last drinks of the night.

    Weds 13th

It’s another late morning start and once again it starts with a hot dog and a coke, and then a trip to the Long Bar for some VP to see if I can get anything out of this place. The answer is no to be honest and I move on to the Strip for a few drinks. I start at O’Sheas with the beers but before that I visit Flamingo box office. I get a ticket to see Piff the Magic Dragon that night.
After O’Sheas I walk across to Bellagio and get the tram down to Monte Carlo and have a beer there and then I have a walk around the new park area and see the arena. It does look very impressive. I call in at NYNY and I go to get something to east at Nine Fine Irishmen, but it’s a 40 minute wait so I just have a drink. I get a cab back to Downtown and I get dropped at El Cortez and I get something to eat at Siegels.

I get showered and changed back at the D and head back to the Strip for the show at Flamingo. I have a beer in O’Sheas first then it’s round to Flamingo. I queue for about 20 mins before they let people in. I’m sat at the front but towards the right of the stage. It’s a very good show and very funny and he really works the crowd, it was well worth the money.
After the show it’s back to O’Sheas for a drink and then onto Harrahs before going back Downtown. I start at the Golden Gate of course and then the Fremont and end up back in the D for a few late drinks and I call at Macdonalds as well for some food before bed.

    Thurs 14th

The day starts about midday and it’s off to Coney Island for something to eat and then I look to see where the football is on. I find it’s on at the outside bar at Golden Nugget, its a few beers while watching the game. After it finishes I head off for a walk and have a beer in the California, then a walk over the bridge in to Main Street. I grab a drink in here while looking at some of the amazing decorations they have in this place. I walk up to the Plaza for a beer in there before I walk back to the D. This time I play on the bar top VP upstairs and I do a lot better than at the Long Bar.

I return to my room to get changed after about an hour’s play at the bar. It’s time for something to eat and I go for the buffet at Golden Nugget, amazing to think that before my last trip I had never done a buffet in Vegas. There is no queue and I pay my money and start filling my plate up. After I‘m well filled up I head on to Fremont Street and I head to Golden Gate for a few beers and then onto Golden Nugget and one of the bars there has the highest bar stools I have ever known. After a couple in there I head over to Fremont for a couple more then onto the D for last ones of the night while avoiding the working girls.

    Friday 15th

I start off about midday and with my usual order from Coney Island. I play for a while in the D while watching the baseball. I then head over to El Cortez and have a marathon stint of VP in there and play on the same $100 for about 2 hours and after all that only $20 down and a load of drink consumed.
Its back to the D for a shower and change and I decide to hit the Golden Nugget buffet again as I had enjoyed it so much the previous night. Once I was full I got a cab down on to the Strip and started the night off at Twin Peaks and after there I had a walk into Planet Hollywood. I didn.t have a drink in here but I was there about the time they were going in to see Britney and there was a fair bit of female flesh on show as I walked around.

Next I went over to Paris for a couple of beers and a couple of observations. A bloke came up to the bar with wife and child in tow and tried to get a round of drinks in and a woman sat next to me trying to play the VP machine without putting any money in.
I had a walk down to the Linq area and had a couple of drinks in Tilted Kilt before moving on to O’Sheas for a couple more. I finish off on the Strip with a drink in Harrahs before getting a cab back Downtown. I hit the Golden Gate for some drink and then moving on to the D. As I’m walking in there I can’t help but notice a familiar face. You couldn’t help but notice him the way he was dressed. Of course its Horny Mike from TV series Counting Cars. I shout out his name and he turns round and shakes my hand and gives me a hug. A few minutes later in the D I manage to get a photo with him.

    20160416_015450.jpg

I get a seat in about the middle of the bar and another familiar face turns up and it’s the lady offering her massage service and again I politely decline. I have another couple of beers and another working girl sits a seat away from me and tries her luck. I do the been there done it line which usually does the trick but she’s on the hard sell so to speak and tells me it will only cost $200.
After a while she realises I’m not going to play ball so she gives up and I carry on with a couple more drinks before bedtime.

    Sat 16th

Well it’s come around quick and it’s my last full day in Vegas. I have a later start today, it’s about mid- afternoon before I get out. I hit Coney Island for the last time and then down to El Cortez and I hit the bar for some VP but didn’t do as well as the day before. I’m there for a couple of hours before going back to the D and a change of clothes and I get packed up as well.

I got to Macdonalds for something to eat and it’s quite busy Downtown tonight. This is because there is boxing on at the Downtown Events Centre. After filling up I head up to Golden Gate where the boxing is being shown in there on nearly every available TV. I have a few in here and move on to Golden Nugget and sit at the sportsbook bar. The guy behind bar is not in the best of moods, I think this is down to being short staffed. I get one beer and attempt another but it’s getting a bit of wait so I head to another bar in there. I have a drink at bar with the very high stools and then walk over to Fremont for a drink.

More bar staff trouble in here as one guy feels a member of bar staff is ignoring him, a few words are exchanged and a manager is called to smooth over the situation. I go across to the D for my final drinks for this trip and Horny Mike is in there again. I drink for about an hour and then head off to bed.

    Sun 17th

Check out time is 12 midday but I ring the desk and they give me a 1pm check out time. I pack up the rest of my stuff and I check out. Taxi to the airport and a quick check in and I then wait around to board my flight. I arrive back in the UK at 10 am Monday local time.
But not long to wait till I’m back again in Vegas on May 27th.
Here’s a couple of near misses during the trip.

You sure do get around. Sounds like you had a great trip. I also stay at the D but never had a Coney island hot dog. Maybe this trip.

Thanks I do like to get around a few places, my first stop at the D and I did enjoy it. Coney Island was a good place to go for a quick fill up.
