OK, this is the situation, my wife and I will be returning back to Vegas in October with another couple who have never been before, I am trying to help them out with a room by using my wife's Diamond card (she has already attained Diamond for this year as well) to book them a room, however, for some odd reason Total rewards is currently being very tight regarding my wife's account and is not offering any comp nights for higher quality hotels, ie Caesars.

My host has already booked me 7 nights comp in the Augustus tower at Caesars for the week that we are going but using my wife's card for them it's going to work out at over $800 for the Augustus tower for the 5 days that they are there.

We all want to stay in the same hotel (and tower) and the only one I can currently book them for the 5 days fully comped is Flamingo!

I could change my booking from Caesars to Flamingo and they are offering me a a Luxury Suite on my account and a Fab Executive King on the wife's account comped for the entire week for us and 5 days for them.

We have only ever stayed at Caesars when we visit (3 times a year from the UK) so are we going to be dissappointed with the Flamingo?

Alternatively do I keep the week I currently have comped at Caesars in October and wait until after we return from our next trip to the USA in August which includes: 3 nights in Vegas (Caesars), 2 nights in Lake Tahoe (Harrah's), 1 night in Reno (Harrah's) and 3 nights in Laughlin (Harrah's) and see what Total Rewards offers us for October after my wife has used her card in all those locations?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

If you enjoy Caesars I would not change it. I've stayed at both properties and have enjoyed both but by any objective measure Caesars is a much better property and my assumption is that and your wife would enjoy it more than you would the Flamingo. I would check with your host to see if he or she could offer you a better rate for a second room at Caesars than what you are currently getting on your own. Even if that didn't work out providing five comped nights for your friends at Flamingo is very nice of you to do so if a second room at Caesars doesn't work out I wouldn't sweat it. As Vegas newbies they will enjoy the trip I'm sure and while the Flamingo isn't Caesars it is in a great location, is easier to get around and you could spend some time there as well, including maybe a Diamond Show there and the Diamond Lounge one evening. I usually stay at Caesars but often also play at the Flamingo and it is so easy to move back and forth between properties.

I think you're right, we really don't want to move away from Caesars, I am hoping this post will convince me that swapping to Flamingo is not the right move!

It's hard to know if the reason your wife is not getting comped rooms is because it's still quite some time away (5 months) or her level of play doesn't warrant it.

You are looking at 2 completely different experiences - Caesars a more sophisticated environment, with most of the rooms being new or recently renovated. Navigating the casino is pretty tricky, and, it is set back farther off the strip so going anywhere does require a good deal of walking. The pool area is amazing, but more of a laid back experience.

Flamingo on the other hand is starting to show it's age, but, having said that it is more of a upbeat, younger vibe with great energy. In my opinion it's a easier casino to navigate, and, to get to the adjoining casino's, which are quite fun. It also has the High Roller nearby, the Linq, carnival court, Cromwell/Giadaetc. The pool area is party time (and they do have a second, more laid back pool), with lot's of interesting sight seeing (translation - big breasted young woman in small bathing suits).

Personally, since it is there first time, and your host agreed to upgrade your room at flamingo, I would stay there. I think they will have a good time, be able to easily visit other casinos and have a great vegas experience.

I've stayed in both the Flamingo (ROTH room) and Caesars Augustus within the past few years. There's no comparison as to which is nicer. Caesars by far!

However (comma) I do prefer the atmosphere and "vibe", for the lack of a better word, of the Linq/Flamingo/whatever on that side of the Strip.

You could always stay at Caesars and play on the other side of the street, assuming you don't mind walking upstairs all the time as the escalators are usually not working.

I know you want to stay in the same tower, but a lot of times even if I have a cheaper room booked I get upgraded to a nicer room upon check-in. Also even if they end up in the new Juluis tower rooms they are very nice(though small) and are the most convenient to the casino.

Caesars is nicer, for sure. But, if the only way to get comped rooms together is Flamingo, I would do that.
I would surely email your host and ask about getting a room in your wifes name. They can sometimes work it out even when the online does not. This assumes the host did not add her TR number to your reservation.

Your wife may be Diamond, but her ADT could be much lower which impacts the free rooms.

My best suggestion is talking/emailing your host.

Caesars is by far a superior property.

    +1 on this!

Ones you're used to Caesars, Flamingo would be such a downgrade, but for new comers Flamingo is perfect, very lively and at the best location on the Strip. I usually stay more south on the Strip and spend most of my evenings in the area of Flamingo and then walk back to my hotel in the evening. From Caesars to Flamingo and vice versa is a piece of cake, so you could just meet up every morning at the place where you will have breakfast together.

I would just assure you get a couple go mini's side by side at flamingo for free, go over and gamble at Cromwell. I have done that before and love it. We usually do a day at flamingo pool, and a day at Drais beach club when staying at Flamingo. All gambling done at cromwell which in my opinion is really just a really nice tower of the Flamingo.

Have you tried contacting your ceasars host to ask him to downgrade you from augustus in exchange for 2 rooms in the cheapest/oldest tower

I would stay at Caesars for sure. Honestly, your pretty nice to your friends and its a very small walk from Caesars to Flamingo. I mean, just walk over the bridge, you don't even need to deal with waiting at a traffic signal. Plus, if you get a different hotel, you and your friends can experience a different hotel room, casino, vibe.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, I am going to sit it out for now and check out what they offer us on my wife's diamond card when we get back from our August trip ;-)

I hate to put the damper on that wonderful idea, but October can be VERY heavy with conferences. Waiting could actually make it worse. 2 years ago, October was literally the only month of the year I had without much for comps at all. I would just contact host now & see if he could book her name on a Go room at Flamingo (vs. the Fab that is offered). Once August trip has been completed, then contact host and he/she should be able to see on their end if they would be able to change her ressie to Caesars. But in the meantime, if you don't book what is there you risk her comps also getting worse.

My host has offered to get me in 5 nights at Caesars, even though I never see that on the website (also Diamond) - I get the others comped but not the big guy! But if I want it, host would do it.

Since your friends have never been before, there might be an advantage to them being in a different hotel. They will be a bit more free to go explore on their own, which is the best part for newbies. Flamingo is just across the street making it easy to meet up from time to time. Some people that travel together think they have to stick together 24/7.

But, as said by others... if you really want to be in the same hotel, email your host. I am betting you can get two rooms even though the web does not show it.
