Any ideas why strip hotel rates on Wed May 4 are so high?

Found interesting anomaly when booking a quick trip for next week.. many of the 5 star hotels have one of their highest rates for the month on Wed May 4th? Higher than a Friday or Saturday. Anyone know what gives? Some overlap for some big conferences? Just have never seen that before.

Just to clarify, already booked my hotel.. just want to know if there is something going on.. special crowds or event .. that I will be contending with.

The last 2 years I was in Vegas the first week of May. I didn't notice any higher rates or anything different in town due to Cinco. A couple of places had some kind of promotions but that was it. The National Hardware Show starts that day, 30,000 people, that's something. And the Hospitality Design 2016 Expo & Conference has 17,500 attendees.

I thought of that.. seems weird though if that is the case, that Thursday's rates would be normal.. don't think most people would be checking out on the 5th? Anyway.. let me if other's agree? other thoughts are welcomed too, if anyone has any insights (or guesses).

    Below are some examples...

    Wynn Rates
    Wed, May 4 $699.00
    Thu, May 5 $219.00
    Fri, May 6 $259.00

    Aria Rates
    Wed, May 4 $450
    Thu, May 5 $189
    Fri, May 6 $279
    Sat, May 7 $260

    Bellagio Rates
    Wed, May 4 $630
    Thu, May 5 $170
    Fri, May 6 $260
    Sat, May 7 $260

Just checked V/P and their rates are similar. Must be a higher-end thing because CETs prices seem relatively normal.

May 5th is my anniversary and we used to find that there were odd days around that time with higher than average rates. I never could figure out what it was about that week, because it didn't usually coincide with Cinco de Mayo, usually one of the days before.

    Good one.

The higher end hotel rates are highly supply-demand driven, so assume its just an overlap of conventions thats created a room shortage on that day - allowing a sizable price hike. Just wanted to see if there might be some giant UFC event or boxing title championship i hadnt heard about.

EMCWorld is that week, and thats not a small one either. Sands Expo so it consumes many of those properties.
