    First time, long time.
    Want to get your opinions.
Buddy bets $10k a hand at BJ and is down like $250k at Foxwoods. He calls up his "good luck charm." She sits with him at his private table and he hands her cut card hoping to change his luck. He's down to his last $50K or so. She cuts every shoe and he proceeds to go on a sick heater. An hour later he's up $100k.
Now here's the part that gets me. She didn't play. Had no stake in the game. Just cut the damn cards. And he gives her 10k!!!!
He told me it's like tipping a dice roller who goes on a heater. I'm like whatever dude and ripped him a new one for giving her so much money.
What do you think? Am I out of line to be so harsh?

No different than a guy that bets $50 a hand, chucking their good luck charm $50, if he goes on a heater after being down a bunch.

It's all relative, and he's only given her 1 bet. She's just lucky that one bet to him, is a fortune to most of us :)

He went from down almost a quarter million to up $100k in one hour. His money, not your problem.

OP is entitled to his opinion. The player/buddy is entitled to his opinion and actions.

As a friend, we often say things to each other. Hard to say if this discussion went from a friendly discussion to out of line.

    Who knows.

My opinion - well, does not matter. I would never be betting $10,000 a hand. Or would be down $250,000.

You are out of line. Given how much he was betting, 10k is peanuts.

    "Out of line"?
That really does depend on the kind of friendship you have.
Me & my buddies give each other shit all the time... but it never gets offensive or mean-spirited. Just friends ribbing one another.

If I were in your situation, I would tease the hell out him but laugh with him while doing so.

    Otherwise - nope... $10K as a percentage of the turn-around? That's like 3%.
He probably tipped the dealer that much over the course of the heater...

Here's the defining point: Would you be critical if he had tossed you $10K amid his joy at having won back so much money?
I suspect the answer is no... which is why you should leave him alone about this...again, unless it's just to rib him about it every now & then.

If you're going to give him a hard time, give him a hard time about betting $10k a hand and being down $250k in the first place. If you don't think that's a big deal, then why on earth would you care about him throwing a bet to his lucky charm?

    Depends.

You can get away with a lot more - a whole lot more - IF your delivery is couched with a smile. Now, if you were sincerely berating the guy for tipping his 'good luck charm', yeah, I'd say that's out of line, because ultimately - it's his money (or in this case it was the casino's money) and as such he can do whatever he wants to do with it. Just think of the reward as a percentage of the haul and not the actual dollar value.

Friends don't ask strangers if they've done their friends wrong. You either know it or not, and if you're still confused, ask the friend.

Of course you are out of line. It didn't sound like you were joking or teasing him...You sounded mad and I can't imagine why it would affect you that way as it is none of your business.....unless you expected a "tip" for sitting with him during this
