Greetings all Sin City sinners.

Should my handle luridludicloco prove to be too much of a tongue twister, you can call me B’rat, short for Bellagiorat, which is what I baptised my gambling persona long ago.

Discovering gambling later in life, I have been to Las Vegas many times since the early 1990s. Las Vegas for me is a mistress, a wife, an impossible dream, a demented mania.

My first stay at Las Vegas was at Flamingo, then on further trips Treasure Island, Riviera, until I settled down to staying for many years exclusively at Caesars and then, at the turn of the millennium, I became enchanted with the new Bellagio and used to stay there sometimes not going out the front door at all during a whole trip. These were my Vegas halcyon days, but after MGM bought Bellagio, and started changing it around, it eventually destroyed its original feel and my extreme fondness for that resort. I have stayed also at NYNY, Ritz, Mandalay Bay, GVR, and in the last ten years or so I have stayed mostly at Wynn and Encore.

Lately Cosmopolitan has tickled my fancy, and I would very much like to stay there but have not yet. I like its style, its big lamp, its food, its drinks, decor and machines. It might be noisy, I fear, but I no longer go to Las Vegas without ear plugs.

The last time I was in Las Vegas was the fall of 2014 and stayed at Encore, but kept taking cabs to Cosmo. Well, once I walked back on the Strip. I have no idea when I will be going back, it could be next month, it could be next year, I hope it is not never.

Sin City is stamped forever in my memory, and many things curious, peculiar, funny and amazing have happened. Let me tell one anecdote. Early one day, more than ten years ago, I started my plan of playing five pulls on every single VP machine of dollar denomination or under at Bellagio. After a few hours, and working myself up from the check in area to Jasmine, I played a quarter Spin Deluxe machine and was dealt a Royal Flush, 20K. That was fun.

 

Nice to see a familiar member from the VW board on here. After several trips to Beau Rivage playing only TDB video poker, I decided to use TDB Aces for my screen name here. You will recognize me as Gregg on the other board. I hope we hear from some of the others.

Yes, I should get to Vegas when possible, and to Reno too, where I have never been, and where they still have decent pay tables, perhaps maybe even the positive version of Kings or Better Joker Poker.

Hi. I have not been rude for not having replied before, I have been away from the computer mostly. My spellchecker wants me to call sinkster sinister, LOL. Thanks for your greetings. I did a little gambling last week closer to Manhattan, Sands in Bethlehem, and Resorts World under the planes landing and taking off from JFK. This last might bring me comps when that Chinese casino opens on the North Strip, same owners I guess, but that is not soon. I keep trying to decide if it is better to dream of a great winning trip to Vegas or risk a losing one. Meanwhile, it is nice reading about some great trips here. Cheers!

Thank you. I am trying to remember you but there are not many clues. A young person soon to be only 60, there were (are) many like that. If you are from Hawaii, could you have been Vortex? I know what, I will look for your posts and see if something helps memory. Cheers.

Thank you. I wish there were lots of stories in the future rather than the past, but what can one do, life is linear, a one way street. Many friends have disappeared, I suspect some are living in Las Vegas, but it is nice to re encounter some.


Love people handles too. I have yet to figure yours out. To do with George? Geography? I’m probably way off, often I make bad guesses. Mine is sort of easy, I hope. Bellagiorat no longer works as I don’t stay there anymore, but I still like it and have fond memories of Bellagio.


Looking for a new handle, I noted that Las Vegas is most often lots of laughs, LOL, so I wanted some “l”s. Very important to enunciate (the Internet says “make sure your enunciation is clear when ordering in a restaurant so you don’t get French flies instead of French fries”). In my handle, you can use any accent (Texas, Southern, English, Mexican, Bostonian, German, French, Chinese, Tuscan Italian, New Jersey Italian, whatever, Las Vegas is cosmopolitan) as long as you make the handle a three two syllable word, lurid/ludic/loco, two very short imperceptible but certain pauses (an orchestra conductor would briefly lower the baton after lurid and after ludic, and extend the arm after loco). Lurid means many things, among them fluorescent, which Las Vegas certainly is, but it is all the other stuff too. Psychologists warn you about ludomania, and which one of us is going to pay attention? We are not ourselves problem gamblers. As to loco…My first choice of a handle was landlotsofloot, an optimistic handle, and I pictured someone hitting Megabucks (full coin, of course) and laughing loud and endlessly as officials do their thing. Crazy. Loco was more laconic than “land lots of loot and go insane”. So that is it.

It can be deceiving to try to guess gender from handles. Because of the "Geo" part I thought you were a boy George. It did go through my mind that "gran" could be grandfather or grandmother, but then it could be something else. In any case now I know you are a girl.

I do not want to dispute the importance of correct enunciation, but my handle sounding like 'French Flies'? Maybe that is a bit of a stretch. It could sound in some tongues like an insect, for example, a 'green eating locust'. That would not be too bad as it would bring to mind a plague of locusts hitting slots in Vegas and carrying all the jackpots, LOL. In any case, the three "l"s would give away my handle, but even that won't always work as some tongues change the "l" into an "r". Then, "rare rude rocker"? That does not work. I like more and more your limpid handle. Anyway, I like too the nickhandle you came up with, short and concise, "3ls".
