Just curious about this as I didn't see Black Cars available anywhere within Las Vegas on my last trip - any idea why? If my memory serves, UberX, UberXL, and Uber Select were the options shown. I was a bit surprised as I would have assumed Black Cars would be popular there. Is there a particular reason for this?

For those that aren't aware, Black Cars are typically professional drivers (contracted by Uber, often from limousine companies) driving luxury cars - Lincoln Town Cars, Chrysler 300s, Cadillac Escalades, etc., while UberX and UberXL are just ordinary people driving everyday cars.

Uberlux or uber select is usually Mercedes and Bmws and nicer cars. I think color is just random (Whatever the guy drives) so by chance you might get a black car..

lol Uber Black doesn't mean Black Cars (as in the colour) it just means they are fancier cars

Indeed, it is very much a thing - Uber Black is the "original" Uber before UberX took over with its popularity. I've always preferred Black Cars (or Uber Black, whatever they're calling it now), hence my inquiry.

Some more information is available at: https://www.uber.com/cities/san-francisco/

Interesting! I do not have uber black in my city. I guess it is based on location if it is available or not?

Correct...unfortunately it is not available in my city, either.

Every city has different options with Uber.

I don't think Las Vegas has black because there is an hourly minimum that limos need to adhere to and it wouldn't work for the Uber model.

That actually makes sense - I figured there was probably some sort of rule like that in place.
