    My Trip Report

It's a little early for this to be a TR, pre-TR maybe. Mrs. LV and I fly out of RDU after a half days work on Wednesday. We'll stay at MGM on a comp, move to El Cortez for our first time living downtown and then migrate to Mandalay Bay on another comp for our final 3 days. I've been excited, as always, for a while about the trip now but feeling a little melancholy at the moment. :poke: I've been reading a couple of "I'm done with Vegas" threads and realize that the bloom is off the rose for me too. I'll continue to travel to Vegas as it still fascinates me. I love to gamble. I love to watch people. I love the fine dining. I also still love the bargains that I find with a little effort, but I have to not compare today's Vegas with that of yesteryear. New Vegas will lose every time for me :grrr:. Yes, BJ rules and VP pay tables suck, as does double-0 roulette and low odds on craps. I feel under appreciated at times. But when I ask myself why, I say well why not? Profit is the motive and there are not enough knowledgeable people to deter the nickel and diming onslaught. There, I just hijacked my own thread but feel so much better. Thanks, VMB,for listening.
Now, back to the original purpose. Our 3 adult children will accompany us for the first 3 days on their virgin Vegas venture. They'll club, pool, eat, get on the High Roller and hopefully thoroughly enjoy it. After all, the family that slays Vegas together stays together :kill:. I'm anticipating chip porn, slot porn, food porn, porn porn (Vegas is an aphrodisiac for some of us) and will report this trip as live as possible. More to come later.

I am looking forward to your live report. Having 3 of your adult kids with you as Vegas virgins may help put some of the bloom back on the rose for you.....seeing Vegas through the eyes of a newbie.

Shoot me a pm 24 hours before you leave and start reporting and I'll move this back to Trip Reports for you.

    Good luck and enjoy!!

Sounds like changing hotels may spice up your trip somewhat. Personally, I don't enjoy packing and unpacking, but then again, I am usually only on a 3-4 night trip. Your kids should allow you to "show off" your Vegas showmanship and bring a fresh perspective to our playground. I went with my daughter once and it was fun being the tour guide. Don't be disappointed though if they want to venture out without you after a day or two. Generation-gap always being a "thing" as it has always been. Keep us posted...enjoy.

Looking forward to your report!! Great that you will be enjoying Vegas with your family. And even though you are not happy with the changes in Vegas, you are confirming my theory, that the lure of Vegas will keep most people coming back. Let's face it folks. Getting comp rooms at hotels, whether it's MGM, Mandalay Bay, Aria or whatever, and having an opportunity to come back with a profit of some sort, makes Vegas the best!! Have a great time!!

Thanks guys. The "kids" have free reign as far as I'm concerned. A meal or two and maybe hit the tables a little and we go our separate ways. Vegas still excites me. I enjoy travel overall and I travel to other places. Vegas is still my "go to" destination.

Okay, so it's T-16 hours or so before takeoff and I cannot sleep. This is my M.O. before a trip. Mrs. LV is busy tying up loose ends.

Quick question...we'll be late arrivals into McCarran, about 10:30 tonight. I'm renting a car and if all goes smoothly, check in @ MGM around midnight or so. For purposes of ADT, when does the next day begin? Midnight? 2AM?

Thanks. Anyone know when the new gambling day resets for MLife? MGM specifically.

B-13 SWA boarding. I was so anxious while gassing up I bought 2 $5 scratchers and won nothing. The odds are better in the casino.

It doesn't matter for MGM. They look at your stay as a "trip". If you play $50 on day 1, 5950 on day 2, and 0 on day three you will be looked at the same as if you played $2000 per day. Now if you weren't staying at an Mlife property it'd be a little different.

Okay, arrived at MGM about 1:30 AM this morning and I'm on eastern time. Couldn't sleep so what on earth could I do?
