    My Trip Report

This will be a solo trip

Flying out on a CET sponsored junket from JFK to Lake Tahoe for 5 nights. This is my first time out there so I'm not sure what to expect.

Flight on Thursday leaves JFK at 730pm and I'll arrive in Reno at 11pm.

I've gotten some suggestions about things to do while I'm there but continue to welcome ideas and tips.

    I might try the spa.

I'm still on the fence about renting a car for the entire trip bc it may just sit parked the entire time when my degenerate gene kicks into high gear and I'm slumming at the craps tables for 18 hours a day. I may just rent for a day and take a drive around the lake.

I'd also like to hear recommendations for food bc I have no clue.

I do not drink so bars do not interest me.

The weather is still nippy there with temps in the 30's at night and 60's during the day which will be perfect for some hikes and walks.

The host out there already reached out to me and said that she upgraded my room to an executive room with a lake view. I'm assuming that's a good thing.

I was also told that as a Seven Star I get 4 Ski Passes/Gondola passes which I heard is cool to ride as you get nice vista views of the lake from an observation deck half way up.

I also received an invite to “THE BIGGEST SLOT TOURNAMENT EVER” 1st place =$500K. All the other winners share the remaining $500K. I posted about this in the slot section. I've never played slots let alone a tournament. It should be a fun diversion. Not sure how my arms and hands are going to feel afterwards.

I also got tix to see a David Bowe Tribute Band on Saturday.

That's all I have planned for now. The rest will be played by ear.

Stay tuned. I really can't wait.

If they offer this while you are there (may be too early) I highly recommend the cruise to Emerald Bay on Bill Harrah's yacht. The lake is beautiful, so try to reserve your "degen" and get out and enjoy the area. It really is spectacular. Definitely do the Heavenly gondola, even if you are not going to ski. Great views from up there!

Friday's Station is the "fine dining" steak house at Harrah's. Great views from the 18th floor, but I think the food is mediocre. I think the food at The Sage Room at Harvey's is better, but it is a dark room right off the casino.

I'll be up there that weekend, but in Reno. Harrah's Tahoe is really hoppin' on the weekends. Lots of eye candy walking around the casino.

Stop by the VIP check-in to get your lift/gondola tickets.

I may come down Saturday night to pick up my monthly allotment of comp chips.

DaiLun i was waiting for you to check in seeing as you are the resident expert on Reno/Lake Tahoe on this board! If you do make it down here let me know and maybe we can meet up. I'd love to hear the lay of the land from an expert like you. it's also possible that if I have a car for the week, I'll drive up to Reno and check it out and we can meet then.

I'm only up there to log a 2500TC day and play in some slot tournaments, and maybe go down to Tahoe to pick up some comp "free play" chips.

I can try to meet you for "siew yeh" Saturday night. I'll stay in touch.

    Good luck!

Sometimes when we don't want a rent car the entire time - we will rent one for 24 hours or sometimes 2 days at the Lake Tahoe Resort next door to Harrah's - California side. There is also a rental car place at Harvey's bottom floor by the room elevators and Starbucks.

Montbleu Casino has some pretty good dining specials if you get a players card. They also have a free Sunday slot tournament.

The executive room is an upgrade from the standard room. It has a frig, two bathrooms and nice bay type window with lake views.

I'd love to get an update on the video poker games in Tahoe if you have any information.

I'm not sure if I'm going to be of much help on that front because I'm a dumb craps player. If there's anything in particular you're interested in knowing about I would be more than happy to investigate.

I might be able to help What are you looking for? I mainly play in the High Limit area, but the casino isn't that big. I will be trying to meet rycelover on Saturday night.

we were just there in March. We were there for spring break so my husband took the kids skiing during the day and then we hit the casino at night. We are big VP players. we had terrible luck at video poker - first 3 days - 1 4oakind between the 2 of us. we finally smartened up and went over to the Hard Rock and had much better luck. Just my 2 cents....

We had great food experiences everywhere we went - went to American river Cafe several times in lower level of Harrah's - great breakfasts and "coffee shop" type of place. Hard Rock at Harveys was good as well as Straw Hat Pizza. Also went to Stateline Brewery which was very good.

If you are there on a Wed, the cruise lines has Happy Hour cruise for $20 - great bargain....drinks weren't too overpriced and they had burgers for sale, etc. Nice way to see the lake....

Let me know if you want to know to anything else!

Technically, HardRock has the WORST VP pay-tables....but hey, luck trumps all.

Go to 19 at Harveys. That place is my personal favorite and has AMAZING views. If you like wine, the Somme at 19 is John Matthews. Fantastic guy and is the preeminent wine expert in the region. Tell him Craig from UrComped sent you and say hi to him for me please.
    Enjoy Tahoe!

HR actually had the same VP pay tables as Harrahs (at least for DDB at the 25 level) and they had a progressive bank for bonus 4 of a kinds....(none of this was on vpfree)
