Cheaper, healthy options in Vegas?

I am looking for lower cost healthy meal options in Vegas, I know there are a couple of organic restaurants, but I can't afford $22 for a bowl of fruit and cup of yogurt! Are they any decent options (grilled chicken and veggies, or lower priced buffets that offer fruits and veggies?)

Also, what would be a decent frugal buffet on or near the strip? (I've never been to Vegas before, so everything is very new to me. Thanks for any help!)

I once went with a friend who runs marathons and eats healthy. He's actually running an 80km this summer and he preferred buffets in Vegas. Buffets gave him lots of selections like various seafood and salads and veggies. Pizza is his weakness so of course he had some of that too. It's not necessarily the cheapest but it suited all in our party. We usually stuck to the lunch buffets over the dinners as it was cheaper, even if we went at like 3pm. No sense paying the higher dinner prices when he wasn't going to eat the prime rib and whatnot.

I remember his breakfasts were usually granola bars that he brought with him plus fruit and yogurt that he purchased in any of the convenience stores along the strip.

Earl of Sandwich is one place that we also went to. Cheap sandwiches and you can have them hold the mayo or customize it however you want.

 

You may want to look at even doing the buffet of buffet pass through Total Rewards/Caesars. 24 hours of access to most of their buffets at a set price. Link for more info:

When in Vegas enjoy Vegas.A couple of days off your regimented diet will not hurt.The only part that hurts me after a Vegas visit is the harder training to get back to where l was.But it is all worth the effort,junk food that l would never try at home.Enjoy yourself (within reason).

 

Inside Harrah's, Fulton Street Food Hall has a really great salad bar with a wide selection of toppings (the sushi bar is terrible, though - skip that). Grand Lux at Venetian or Palazzo also has a nice variety and they'll accommodate special requests to fit your needs.

 

Downtown. The Cal has a decent salad bar for $5.99...or get a low cal entree and add the salad bar for another $2.

 

Just read its your first time in Vegas. Where are you staying and will you have a rental car? Lunch buffets on the strip will start at $15 and go up from there, say $20-25 for the higher priced ones like Caesars and Wynn before taxes and tip . If you can go off strip or downtown, prices are much better. Even though we were on a budget, we did "splurge" for the Wynn. Better quality foods all around but there are several to choose from.

 

Buffets are the way to go if you want a good meal for a decent price, since everything is included. Most of the lunch buffets, even on the strip are pretty reasonable for us because we usually bring our own breakfast and then just have a buffet for lunch and light snack for dinner. It's much easier to get a healthy meal at the buffets if you stick to the basics like salad, sushi, veggies and fruit options. As far as frugal buffets on the strip, I personally would pay a little more and go to some of the better ones (Bacchanal at Caesars, Wicked Spoon at Cosmo, Bellagio, or Aria). Planet Hollywood is a little cheaper and pretty good.

 

Thanks for the info. We will probably be staying at Mandalay Bay (It will depend what rooms my husband and I can get comped from MyVegas. The dates for early October are not available yet. We may rent a car for one day, I am interested in checking out Red Rock Casino and the area around there, but it will depend on our time. Unfortunately it is not only calories I am worried about, I need to be careful not to set of any migraine triggers with certain food additives. (Already have to deal with a lot of flashing lights, and the fact that they use scents throughout most of the casinos). We will only be there 3 days, it is a stopover on our way back from visiting my in-laws. Thanks again for all the great info.

 

Since you'll be at MB, check out Della's at the Delano. It's a farm to table style restaurant. I eat there at least once every trip and have never been disappointed.

 

Just a suggestion, if you go to Red Rock, I wouldn't do the buffet there. It used to be pretty good, but it's definitely slipped in the last few years.
