If they really follow through with the theme, especially in restaurants, it could be something cool. I am having trouble picturing where they would be located though.

Should be plenty of room to do it since almost the entire North end of the strip is a wasteland.

When I read the article again and it mentions "a group responsible for designing one of the most innovative destination resorts in the world" and then I look at the picture again.......seems very Atlantis-like. Are the Kerzners trying to get back into Vegas? Weren't they MGM's partner on that parcel that was designated for City Center North?

Very interesting. I wish the north end would get going again!

My only thought would be the property where frontier used to be or as a long shot the foundation Bleu. There is also the old wet not wild land.

New Frontier space is being developed into Alon (it was previously supposed to be the Plaza) and it wouldn't make sense to spend the money to build on the Fontainebleu space when demolition of that tower alone would cost a fortune. I like the idea of the old Wet N Wild space, along with maybe the Las Ramblas plot, and I'm not sure if the Project Jackpot lot is still technically available, but otherwise I'm not sure where a project this size could possibly go.

Honestly, I just hope they bring back the themed style hotels and casinos. I'm hoping Resorts World will bring back the desire for developers to go back to the themed resorts and casinos.

    Just my two cents.

There is enough land space between PH and MGM Grand. Demolishing that area costs less than demolishing Fontainebleau site. Wet n' Wild site too, and area between Encore and LVCVA - Riviera (shopping plaza) too.

If they're going for Mayan, they'll need that bar in the place from the movie From Dusk Til Dawn (Titty Twister I think it was called?)

The designer is someone who was part of the Luxor design but I can't get a fix on the money end of it. The Kerzners could be a possibility.

It's supposed to be north strip. I was glancing at an old vegastodayandtomorrow.com map and there looks to be some parcels near SLS that would work. Since that site is no longer being updated, it's harder to keep track of who controls some of these properties. It seems like whoever these folks are, they probably have control of a parcel.

Here is a site from the past with cancelled projects. The Mayan theme resort reminds me of Xanadu from 1975. There was supposed to be a Titanic themed Hotel, Addams Family Hotel, etc, etc.

Interesting site with some amazing renderings that were never realized. There's also some renderings of already Las Vegas resorts that for some reason never came about.

By the way, if a Mayan or Aztec themed resort type hotel does open, call it "Apocalypto"..........featuring a Circue de Soleil show with sacrificial virgins and Penn & Teller influenced blood and guts.....LOL.
