Not sure where to post this but thought I'd ask it here ...

Flying in on a junket from JFK next week for 6 nights and it's my first time out there. So I was wondering if there's any tips or suggestions regarding where to eat or see and do ...

Forrest Buffet at Harrahs is good. Nice view from top floor.
Sage room at Harveys is excellent.
Take the Gondola up the mountain
    Walk along the Lake
Take the Tahoe Queen to Emerald Bay

When you return from the gondola ride check out Basecamp Pizza...very near the gondola and best pizza ever.
My favorite nice restaurant is Kitchen 19 at Harvey's...on the 19th floor and every table has a view of the lake...food has always been wonderful.
Take some time to enjoy the outdoors...Tahoe is spectacularly beautiful.

Go to State Line brewery at base as well. Good variety of both on and off site brews. Happy hour has good deals and burgers / pizzas are very reasonably priced for lake prices. Google and find website to look at menu. Good luck!!

You are going to be there quite a while. Rent a car so you can drive all around the Lake one day.
Make a day trip to Virginia City and check it out.

Almost half a mile from Harrah's - Nevada side - walk past Lakeside Inn and Casino and you will see a trail that takes you down to Nevada Beach. Very nice.

Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife. A bear ran across the road as we were driving along the lake last year.

Friday's Station Steak and Seafood Grill is an extremely nice fine dining establishment on the top floor of the Harrah's Hotel tower. The food, while pricey, is delicious and the service is top notch. The restaurant offers a nice view of Lake Tahoe, particularly at sunset, when the Sierra Nevada mountains seem to glow.

As mentioned earlier, the Tahoe Queen paddlewheel cruise on the lake was well worth doing.

Ohh if you're going to Lake Tahoe, you MUST rent a car...trust me, drive around the lake!
Also, stop by Lucky Beaver Tavern (right next to Harrahs; I recommend The Gambler burger)
The best video poker is at the Avalanche Bar in Harvey's, or the Buffet bar in Harrah's.

Beautiful place. The brewery at state line is great. Lot's of good local places to eat. It's still cold there right now. Pack accordingly. There's a guy that plays at Harrahs- the lounge singer. He's worth seeing. Hash House a Go-Go is great breakfast. The steakhouse on top of Harrah's was very bleh for very not inexpensive. If it's not too cold for you and you like the sort of thing, go on a fishing trip and catch the kokanee salmon and go have it prepared at the name of the place escapes me (they will prepare your fish-it's a neat experience). Red Hut café has good breakfast vittles. From my memory, tables limits were super low. My wife, who hates gambling, wants to go back just because of the scenery. Be sure to watch out the windows on the drive from Reno. AMAZING scenery. I'm on my second Vegas trip this year and can't wait to go back to Stateline.

Good suggestions but I don't think they have Hash House in Tahoe. I know they have it at Harrah's Reno.

Also - I forgot about another neat place if you have a rent car. Taylor Creek Visitor Center has informative trails - about 5 or 6 that are really interesting. It (the visitor info center) may not be open this time of year but you can usually park in the parking lot and walk to and through the trails.
