I guess you would call this a superstition that I have ... When I head down to the casino for a BJ or craps session, I tend to walk around in circles stressing over which table I should pick as to make sure I pick the right one. I constantly have to tell myself to just find one that looks like a fun group and start playing. I'm sure I look suspicious to the eyes in the sky walking circles around the pit area!
    Anyone else do this?

In a room full of other superstitious gamblers and drunks? You're probably not even on their radar.

Definitely. Especially my first day. Takes me forever to pick a table.

The casino personnel has seen everything. I do it all the time at the crap tables. Me and a whole bunch of other degenerates just waiting for the right time to jump in.

Usually, for craps, the casinos I go to only have one table..or if they have two, I go to the lower limit one (i.e.: $5 table)
For Blackjack, I try to find a $5 DD 3:2/DA2...

I always check out the tables before I play. Before I play I also wait to see how good the table is. Superstition but I won't go to a table where the shooter craps out within a few rolls. I like going to the Fremont because the tables have a counter and I can see how well a shooter is doing (low number means a new shooter/previous shooter crapped out - higher number means that the shooter has been rolling for a bit). The Fremont also has a $3 table but it isn't always in the same place so I go around the tables to see where it is.

I do the same thing (go around looking at the tables before playing) at MSS and the Cal and also on the strip and at other non strip locales like SP. Yes, it's superstition but I don't want to play on "cold" tables if possible. No guarantee that the shooter won't crap out or the table will be cold but I feel more comfortable going to a table where the shooter doesn't crap out when I'm checking the table out.

I have gotten on tables at the Fremont where the counter read 15 or so and the shooter continued to roll a lot more (one had over 55 rolls by the time he crapped out) so while it is all superstition I usually pick a table based on a "gut" feeling.

Oh man, it's almost a requirement before I play Roulette. Especially with the all telling board of results :)

But when it comes to craps, I use a very scientific formula involving table noise level, number of and/or color of chips in railings and my own special dealer requirements. If two out of the three categories are met to my standard, I'll buy in. :)

I love thinking I have some sort of control of my gambling success.

For craps, I always check out the vibe of the table, one sour-puss really dampens the play. Otherwise I look and see which table has the most people with big chip stacks [emoji106]

I'm pretty sure that the only way you would draw suspicion from The Casino Employees and Managers is if they catch you on camera looking at a bunch of abandoned slots and pressing "Cash out
" Some trashbag idiot said on another gambling website that they were caught trying to cash in $70 at a Casino at a seemingly abandoned slot and was banned for a week after being forced to give the ticket back to the rightful owner who had been in the restroom and rightfully cursed the idiot out.

It's kind of a filtration process for me.

Seminole Hard Rock: don't stop at the $25 BJ tables, just nose around until I find a $15 or the ever-elusive $10 (which seems to disappear right around four or five in the afternoon). Once a potential table(s) has been found, I watch for a while. Something I definitely don't do is muscle in where there's only one seat open (regardless of where that seat may be). I also watch the people who are playing...are they playing $10 hands but acting like they're $100 chips? Also, at the ripe old age of the speed limit, I can't bring myself to sit at a table of just-turned-twenty-one gettin' they party on. Push comes to shove, I'll go play Spanish 21 or 3-card poker if there's not a BJ table to my liking. Am I too picky?

Vegas: kind of different here. 99.9% of the time it's me and the Mrs. We lean towards starting a table, or getting in with only one or two other people at play. We don't opt for the last two seats available (I think that may be due to getting two seats side-by-side). Cindy won't play anything over $15 hand, so the only time I'm at $25 tables is I'm on my own (usually after she has retired for the evening). Again, it involves a bit of reconnaissance and I generally avoid the partying / exuberant celebratory tables (Yes, it was 21 and you now have $37.50. I'll alert the media).
Seating is less of an issue here...if I like the table (good vibe), I'll take a seat.

In both instances, if there's someone there who habitually opines on other's play...I pass that table by. :bang:
Blackjack is not a team sport, and if I (and I assume anyone else) wanted lessons, the casino is happy to offer.
Now, where's that virtual machine...?

I'll do one lap looking for a craps table that embraces loud cheering, heavy drinking, and recanting stories from late the night prior. If I can't find one, I'll make one.

Great question. Whenever I enter a casino, first thing I do is take a really big breath. You could drop my off blindfolded in any strip place, and I'll tell you exactly where I am based on the shampoo floor cleaner.

I want to take some time ot wander around before I do anything. Although I don't like roulette and never play it, I enjoy watching it. I will usually walk up to tables where there is a lot of action like craps or some $5 BJ table and enjoy the atmos. Then, when I have my long island ice tea, i wander some more, not yet ready to play. I walk around the table floor and watch if there are any new games. I tend to stare at tables just a little too long, I hopes that the EYE will track me. I'm not up to anything, I just like to think someone is watching me because I look directly into the roulette wheel and stand just a little too close. I know...but I'm in Vegas, who cares...

Then, eventhough I know basic strategy for most tables games, I like to pretend I really don't know what I'm looking at. 'So what does a 'pass bet' mean?' Like I haven't played craps for at least 10 years now. I don't know, maybe I have serious issues, I like to do that. I'm a attention seeker, lets keep it at that.

Then, when I feel all the vibes are right, I move into a table, usually with an Asian table dealer, they are either amazingly fun or practically braindead. Ususally females. i dont feel comfortable with guy dealers for some reason. Elderly dealers are the best. no 21 yo bimbos for me. The other players have to be a match with my ever so slight disturbed personality, if I see total desperation for that next card, I don't see any point in joining. I need slightly drunk people with a little craziness.

Then, when I'm sure the cocktail waitress has been tipped well and I told her how amazing she looks today (see refference to previous personality description) so the drinks keep comming, I'm ready. I lay my $300 down with my players card and the world just stops turning for me. Talk to me about anything while Im playing, your latest vacation or pet hamster. I look at the cards how they are pulled out of the shoe and listen to the talk of the table. Not a care in the world....
