Is there a difference between the 2 in regards to a comp ceiling? In others words, executive host title is higher than casino host, so executive host do more for me? My problem is my executive host is mia ALL the TIME! I text her and she doesn't even reply! I got a recommendation from a fellow VMBer, but am getting the run around in regards to wanting to change hosts. I have average 1million tier credit each year with mlife. That might not be much to some, but definitely not chump change either. I'm not high maintenance at all, but at least a reply! I do not want to keep giving this existing assigned host at MB credit for my play!

I can't say for sure but maybe one is for tables and the other is for slots?

My guess is that an executive casino host supervises several casino hosts or is in charge of the dept. Therefore their exposure to customers is not their main duty.

I'm sure they still have the same or more leeway to comps as the casino host it's just that their responsibilities are with the spreadsheets more than with a personal relationship with the customer.

And I don't know why they don't respond to your correspondence. I think that's bad PR on their part.

This has been discussed a lot, and I have some casino hosts friends. Basically if you are just have the title of Casino Host you do not have as much discretion in what you can and want to comp as an Executive Casino Host. I always try and get assigned an Executive Casino Host.

This is completely false in every way.

They're both regular hosts. The Executive has a slightly higher paycheck and also slightly higher target numbers and potentially a bigger bonus if he hits them.

He's not anybody's boss and doesn't have different responsibilities.

This isn't really true either. The bigger title isn't about leeway in comping. Mostly it comes down to having more pull in getting special things done and also in getting better suites and villas for their players on busy weekends where a lower host's players will often get bumped first.

I guess in some ways a bigger title gives you more leeway with your boss when you go above and beyond for someone and have to justify it. But that's a choice by each host to do that in each individual circumstance and whether he will or not depends much more on your relationship with him and not his title.

For 1 million points per year and not even get a reply, I would say you have a bad host. Or could be that you short played her in the past.
Either way, time to move to other properties.

I did 75k coin in with slots. I wouldn't say that was short play. Am I wrong?

So Shifter, should I try to get another host that is "executive host" instead of "casino host"? My current bad host is an executive host. They are somewhat giving me a hard time trying to change hosts. Am I stuck this host? Thank you.

You shouldn't be stuck with a host.

Who specifically is giving you the run around on changing, is it all being done by phone, like to VIP Services?

I would go to the MB website and get the email address for the Director of National Marketing. He was my host when I stayed at MB, and I thought he was a nice guy, very straight up about what he could do. Email him, you don't have to go into a ton of detail, just explain that you're finding your host unresponsive, not to requests that you're making, but in simply replying, that you'd like to stay with MB, but that you'd prefer to switch hosts.

I think you have to go over your host's head. VIP Services reps aren't that, and other hosts aren't. The national director is, and his email address is right there.

75K coin-in is a good play, but itself doesn't mean not short playing. It all depends on what you were comped.
If you were offered 5K comps upfront, then 75k coin-in (7K theo) is far from enough to cover that.
I am not saying you short played him. In your case, I believe she is just a bad host.

    Thank you Chuck!

Yes, it's VIP Services that's giving me the run around. So I guess, from you've told me, they really don't have any authority to do anything. It seems like they didn't want to get in trouble or something. Anyway this is the host that was assigned to me with I was booking an offer, of which supposedly that offer/room required a host to book. The same thing happened to me at Mirage, with a unresponsive host. I actually kept old email of hosts emailing me and reached out to one. She actually gave me her boss' email to see if I can switch to her as my host. The change was made. Seriously, what's with hosts being absolutely unresponsive?! What's annoying with this current MB host is that she still sends me emails in regards to upcoming events! So all I've done was just book my offers with VIP services...less aggravations. Thanks again, Chuck!

VIP Services reps are probably going to be front desk reps who have been promoted. They maybe have a little more leeway than a front desk clerk, and probably have been trained a little bit more on player policies and procedures, and hopefully demonstrated an affinity for dealing with customers.

But a VIP rep is going to look at a host as a co-worker. So the question is, what kind of procedure would MGM or MB have for VIP reps in this situation? Their boss probably isn't in the marketing department, their boss is probably the front desk manager or a VIP manager (which may or may not be part of the marketing dept). So what do they do with this type of complaint? Maybe pass it on to their boss, who then has to pass it on to the host or the host's boss. A VIP rep is definitely not going to go directly to someone else's boss, and I doubt that they would contact the host either, although that actually would seem like the most logical way to handle it. VIP rep calls/emails the host and says "Mr E called today and said he can't get a hold of you." What would be wrong with that?

Whatever the process is at various places, it seems more effective at some than others.

Once again, that title doesn't mean he's a boss. Director is the title above Executive or Senior Executive and below VP but is just another host.

The person who actually runs the entire department is generally called the VP of National Marketing and his email will not be on any websites as he doesn't deal directly with any players. However there can be other VPs in the department who are just high level hosts.

    Yes it's confusing.

Well, I have been getting 1000 rc, 700 fp, and 3 nights. So my comps are about right, according to my play, right?

So shifter, what do you think my course of action should be? I really don't want to give this host credit for my play without her helping me do anything. Thanks.

Need to get in touch with a new host first.

Then you can work on switching the coding.

Is it possible that it will be a PITA to switch? They make it sound like it's a big deal to switch hosts. It was a whole process when I switched hosts at Mirage from the assigned one.

I guess you stayed at a big suite and with limo?
The total comps would be 3K.
If I were a host, I would expect 10K+ theo.
I guess you probably on the short side.

I don't ever use limo. I didn't think the room rates were that much. So, you're probably right. Thanks!
