Wonder what this'll mean for the golf course itself?

It's interesting that Wynn keeps Siegfried & Roy in the loop. I've always hoped Wynn would do at least one more Vegas project.

It's a long desert between due diligence and an actual purchase...

That's true, but at 74 I can see Wynn trying to fast track any new project he may do. On the flip side he can't just act on his own as he could with some of his other projects.

meanwhile. his plan for a casino outside of Boston has been put on hold....

Wynn Everett announced Wednesday that all hiring and the start of construction of its Everett casino has come to an "abrupt stop" due to a new legal appeal filed with the state Department of Environmental Protection objecting to a permit granted to Wynn.

A Wynn Everett spokesman said the company is immediately freezing all hiring, is canceling seven job fairs and is canceling Wynn's planned April construction groundbreaking.

he's learning Mass politicians have very empty pockets that need to be filled. ;)

According to Vegas Tripping's Twitter, Wynn (in addition to announcing the delay of Macau's Wynn Palace to July/August), indicates the golf course project's working name is "Paradise Park" and will be somewhat beach-themed.

Beautiful concept! Although I'd miss the golf course. I'll be there August & if they plan closing it this Fall, I may have to play it one more time.

I like the idea. And I like fireworks :woohoo: But if I have to pay just to get in and look around or watch, forget it

I liked the idea when I first read it but you know Steve and Las Vegas in general....everything costs money and lots of it. Hell they charge about $4-500 for a day bed in peak season on a weekend at the adult pool so who knows what this place will cost. Plus IMO if its a drunken fest like the EBC then all it's going to do is add more obnoxious drunks to the property in the middle of the afternoon.

Lets hope he keeps the "party" out at the EBC and lets this place be a fun spot to enjoy the amenities.

Just looked at the second link and the artists rendition looks like part of the golf course is still there so I wonder....is he leaving a 9 hole course?

It does look pretty cool in concept.....Leave it to Steve Wynn to put a place to water ski in "the middle of the fucking desert"

Not something I would pay for. I'll pay for a Caribbean vacation for that experience.

I agree; I don't go to Vegas for the beach and a boardwalk! Plus, I could be wrong but it sounds awfully kid-friendly, which for me personally is not appealing in the least :wink2:

I really like it and think it makes good business sense. He's appealing to a new, younger, more active set of Vegas visitors.

I'm not young anymore but could see myself paying a fee to get into the park if I could enjoy paddle boarding, water skiing and a laid back experience different from my image of the average Vegas pool. One day at the Wynn beach, would satisfy a lot of my vacation requirements.

He's still leaving a 9 hole golf course for those who want to golf and honestly, how many new visitors or young people go to Vegas to play golf? Golfers go where they want to go but it's not the draw that it used to be. Don't get me wrong, many people enjoy golf but when it comes to a vacation destination, many younger people enjoy trying new activities and somehow they have the money. They go to have more lively fun as can be seen by the popularity of nightclubs, shows, fancy restaurants and bars. My nieces go to Vegas and spend a small fortune on things they would never spend money on at home.

Wynn is offering something to get the younger, active crowd in. He's appealing to the sporty vacationer, without forcing Vegas as a gambling vacation. He knows, once he gets people back at the hotel for the fireworks show at night (who wouldn't want to make sure they're back in time to have a cocktail on the balcony while enjoying the show), enough will end up in the restaurants, casinos and nightclubs to make a profit.

I think it's pretty smart. He'll have a resort to cater to all ages.

"Rich people only like being around rich people," he said. "Nobody likes being around poor people, especially poor people."

    What a ******. I'll stick to Cosmopolitan.
