Hello message board friends, I wanted to post this after April fools so you wouldn't think that I am joking.
As of March 28th, 2016. The Plaza decided to "eliminate my position "
Since I am not one to shut up to injustice and disappear without saying goodbye, I wanted to say that it has been a pleasure getting to know a lot of you and will be sure to let you know where I land next.
You see, the Plaza hired me to develop new players and improve their caliber of player since they are clearly suffering due to years of mismanagement. (I assume that I'm not telling you anything you don't know) I came from a very successful property with a lot of potential so they gave me an offer and sold me on the challenge that I will be part of a change, something that will expand my experience.
Sadly I was gullible enough to believe it. They took my list of players and started to market to them, as they have done to a lot of other hosts before me. My hands were tied on any suggestions that I proposed to make the property better and never included me on any meetings that impacted my department.
Being the professional I am, I still kept pushing and worked for months on their first successful March Madness party.
I worked 14 hour days to make sure everything ran smoothly. I didn't take a day off for 2 weeks because they gave one of their hosts that did nothing a whole week off and as soon as he came back, they handed me my walking papers.
I could go on and on about the way that company is ran but I'd rather stay classy and let karma do the rest.
If you need to get ahold of me, my personal email address is [email protected]
Please stay in touch and I will let everyone know where I end up next. Until then, God bless you all.

    Yolla "the doctor " Alsabagh.

    Hello Yolla,
Sorry to hear your story. I never contacted you but I knew the previous host Curt.
I already lost faith on Plaza before you came in. (not because of Curt, he is a very good guy.)
Good luck on your next position.

So frustrating to put all that energy and talent in to a new position to have the rug pulled out from under you. Sorry.

Suspect your talent and style will have you back in the game shortly.

Maybe a chance to sneak in a short vacation before heading back ?

    Wow. Just, wow.
This seems to be part of the same corporate mentality of Vegas of late...take something (or someone) that is positive for the gambling customer and slash/pare down/get rid of.

Very sorry to hear your sad news and hope something better for you is on the horizon.

Was looking forward to checking out the "new and improved" Plaza next month; that may not happen now.

I am so sorry to hear about the situation at hand..........I had started to play there and booked a trip to the Plaza for next week (in great part due to your efforts on this board!) and I was looking forward to meeting you in person..........I suspect many of us will be very interested in the Dr's next residency! All the best in the future, wherever your path might lead you...

I never had the pleasure to meet you, but heard many good things about you. We all know where the Plaza is going, and maybe you're lucky to be out of there. When one door closes, another one opens. Good luck in your future endeavors.

This makes me sad. Yolla was so generous and gracious to me in January.

Jean Scott is fond of saying that you shouldn't marry a casino, you should have a series of affairs with them. I suppose my affair with the Plaza is still alive, but when I get serious about my next trip in the fall, I will be open to any and all offers.

Best of luck to Yolla, and I hope she keeps us updated.

I'm so sorry to hear your news. I can empathize, having been similarly lured away from a successful company to one that turned out to be (ahem) less successful. My next job after that turned out to be a good one, as I'm sure yours will, too. Best wishes.

I'm sorry to hear this. I was just about to book a week stay at The Plaza and decided to check this board first to see if you were still there before I emailed you. Perfect timing. While I'm sure other casinos play dirty tricks as well, I can't bring myself to book at the Plaza having this one hit so close to home.

Looks like it's back to the Nugget or El Co for me.

You will land on your feet and please let us know when you do.

ugh... Sorry to hear this. Hopefully they appreciate the 400 plus people that came to the Plaza this March, none of whom would have stepped foot in the place, without your appearance in this group and the work you put in to make that party successful. Best of Luck my friend

I know you will do well wherever you go. I've never met you. I never took up your offers when you were at the Plaza. But I've read your responses to others and how they are happy with your services.

Your goodbye post saddens me when I see professionals such as you work so hard to make things happen only to have the rug pulled out from under you after all your efforts. Your refusal to "bad-mouth" your former employer even though warranted is proof of your genuine character and in line with a true professional.

Good Luck and Best Wishes. If you ever find your way to the California Downtown I would love to meet you!

Sorry to hear that you were let go, it's typical of poorly run casino's(and Plaza is certainly one), to treat their employees as badly as their customers. Running a casino is not rocket science, how hard is it to copy what your competitors are doing well? Of course, when your job is to try to lure customers to play bad machines, or tables with bad rules i guess it's real hard. good luck to you werever you land.

Keep in mind that the plaza even refused to become part of the fremont st experience because they didnt want to help pay for it, that's penny wise, pound foolish.

    Sorry to hear that. Sucks.

Think of all those tv shows about turning around failing businesses? How many of them refuse the advice and fail? It's only a few that take the advice and thrive. Sad but true. We've all worked places like that.

You will land on your feet, I have no doubt.

Sad to hear this, and sorry that you were caught off guard.

I don't know where you are age/career wise, but rest assured your experience is not uncommon in the business world. We have used all the typical funny sayings secretly in the big company I worked for - "The beatings will stop when the morale around here improves." "No good deed goes unpunished." And "blamestorming" - determining in the first project meeting who to blame if it doesn't work out.

Truly life isn't fair, and that's hard to accept. Something you should keep that will always serve you well is your integrity. You may be wronged, but if you always strive to honor your commitments (including those toward your employer) you can live with yourself knowing you did what you could.

in the past I've owned a business and I've had to let some really good employees go. It is not an easy decision and I still look back on it with sincere sadness. Sometimes it is just a matter of redundancy and numbers. The first responsibility of an employer is to keep the business solvent and propagating so the employees can depend on getting a paycheck and supporting their families. Sometimes your workforce is just too large for what the company is producing and it becomes a numbers game to keep it all going. I can't fault management for doing what they have to do. If you're really good at what you do, there will be plenty of other corporations that would be lucky to have you join their team.
