Does anyone know if things have changed at Casino Royale? I think they were bought by Best Western so I wonder if the low limits and "downtown/old school feel" will be gone. When I was in Vegas in Feb, it appeared the Blackjack limits had risen which wasn't a good sign. Just trying to decide what area to stay in for my next Vegas trip. Thanks... Bob
Looked the same go me a few months ago. Still cheap drinks and added a White Castle. Still small and packed.
Was in there last week and I really liked the changes. New center bar with sports book attached, cheap drinks and the limits were low when I was there. Plus a nice promotion where if you lose $20 in a slot machine, $20 free play is added to your account automatically.
The video poker has been downgraded. 8/5 bonus poker is now 7/5. No more full pay video poker. Not sure it was bought by Best Western, just that they bought a franchise to sell their rooms as Best Western. The new bar is very nice with a sports betting window.
have the changed the ATM I use it every visit as it only charges $1 withdrawal fee (at least it has done for years)
Thank you breakeven! This place gives me the heebeejeebies, but I was worried I was being a princess. I'm not a germaphobe, but in Casino Royale, I want to buy stock in hand sanitizer...and scented hankies!
was there 2 nights ago and the roulette table shut down at 4:30am... thought that was weird... the manager came out and said "5 min"... that really confused me... LOL... didnt think they "closed"
I like the changes they made since my last trip (new bar, moving the tables to the back). The loss rebate program is a nice touch, the money is automatically loaded to your card. In my experience the drink service has always been quick and the drinks have been strong. I understand overall it is a dump in comparison to the rest of the neighborhood and has a certain aroma (what casino doesn't). The tables aren't open 24/7 but when they are it is great people watching.
I have to say in all my years of reading TR's I don't think I ever read one where someone stayed at Casino Royale.
I've called to get rates several times, it's never cheap. The Besr Western and CR are run separately from what I understand. I love the place though, can't wait to see the new bar, it's pretty bad when the bartenders there know me from buying 100s of $1 Michelob beers from them
They know me too for that exact same reason! My favorite beer is Michelob Light and CR is the only place I can find it on the strip!!! So since we stay at Harrah's for 8 nights I am over there so many times! I also like playing over there, I call it my favorite dive casino with my fav beer.
On my last trip out, I played some craps one morning. The guy next to me asked for a Maker's Mark with a splash of water and the server literally laughed in his face and walked on. I love that place!
Wow, that's been gone for a long time. Good memories, tried to teach my mom and two other elderly ladies how to play there. We all won and they enjoyed throwing the dice but really could not figure out how they were winning. Having the one "do it all" stickman at that small tub really made it nice for beginners to get over the initial intimidation of a big table. Sigh, I have never seen one since.
yeah, the only other one i played at was at the Boardwalk... back to CR.. our group took over the tub one night....we had a Craps virgin that was with us.... she sat down and I coached her..when she got the dice me and another guy both tapped our watches..... 47 minutes she finally 7'd out.... we all made good money, but she looked at her stack compared to others and said "I should have bet more" and i said... what do think i was telling you? LOL but it was all good and we named her the groups golden arm.
I don't understand why Casino Royale has kept the hotel. They could have expanded the casino during the boom years. Instead, licensed it to Best Western?
