So, my wife and I are trying to use our rewards points to book a room on a specific date (May 4th).

Currently, we see that there isn't anything available that night for the only two hotels currently offered (Mirage and Mandalay Bay)

My question is it likely that we will we see additional hotels and/or dates become available as we get closer to that day?

..or should I just forget about using rewards and just start calling the hotel directly for pricing etc on that day?

    Thanks very much you guys!

You're out of luck, once the dates are sold out, that's it.

Quite frankly..... excuse my french....you are screwed for those days.

I have no idea what's going on that date but a basic room (without using Mlife tier points) on Mandalay Bay's website is out the room for a Wednesday and there isn't any rooms available at the Bellagio:

Thanks for confirming what I suspected. DANG I wonder what the heck is going on for that date??

...still, there must be changes, updates or ways around the impossible ....not giving up just yet.

Are you specifically wanting MB or Bellagio? MGM and Cosmo are $109/$110 respectively.

No, the Bellagio was just a request but now that I seem to be scrambling I would be happy with any place on the strip thats decent (and a deal).
The idea was to cash in MyVegas game rewards but since this seems impossible I just need to get it done.

This is for a single night very special occasion
Cheers and thanks for adding some helpful info

I'm seeing The Mirage for $52+RF, sounds pretty good and falls under the category of "decent"

    What, how?
I would jump on that but I'm not seeing any prices like that. For May 4th?

Sorry, my mistake, I was looking at April 4th. Mirage is $399 for May 4th, absolutely awful price. Seems like Excalibur is the only one with reasonable price.

Monte Carlo is really cheap on the days you want to be there. This isn't even my tier discount but rather best rate.

Considering the going rate for hotels during that same time frame, that price is really great. The hotel is on the mid tier of mgm properties and the rooms are clean and the casino even cleaner. The steakhouse there is my favorite in all of Vegas (Brand)

Sorry, it was available. Your best option is paying for the room then. I would go with the Cosmopolitan versus Monte Carlo.

It's probably the Roller Skating Association Convention!

Actually, there are a lot of attendees expected at Mandalay listed on there (Hospitality Design 2016 Expo & Conference), but can't speak to Bellagio.
