    Hi guys,
I will be staying at the Monte Carlo for my first time, but I got it comped with freeplay and hotel credit. So any information on what I can expect in room quality? also, last time I was over there was August and I was wondering how the remodel is going for the BLVD Plaza? I will be staying May 15-18

Let me say first that I Love the MC. I have stayed there for years and for the price, the location is great. That being said... it is one of the older properties on the strip. I have heard room remodels are in the works but as of Jan it has not started. As far as the rooms go, they are outdated but in my experience always clean and I've not had any major issues.

I stayed at the MC in 2014. As mentioned above the rooms are dated by now; but the room we stayed in was very clean and cheap.

I liked the property in many ways for things such as a compact casino, decent poker room, nice pool (though shaded by buildings at certain times of the day),access by the tram to other properties, and Sambalatte.

However; we've moved onto the MGM Grand the past few years as the rooms are more modern, the pool is phenomenal, and the casino has everything you need in games, bars, and restaurants. It is more money though.

That construction next to the MC looks like it's not going to be done for another 5 years when I saw it last summer.

I stayed there on my last trip - a pretty good place, I think. Location's great, atmosphere's nice, hotel is easy to navigate... but Knucklehead is right in saying that it's an older property which could be part of why it's lower on the price scale.

The MC can be good if you go in with the right set of expectations. Rooms are basic but comfortable, I like the high floor pool view. The casino is easy to get around and the elevators are right there by the pool so you don't have to walk much to get to the pool. The pool is good also if you have the time to relax. Take an inner tube and float on the lazy river. I like the shade and there is plenty of that. It is an easy indoor walk to the Aria if you prefer a more upscale environment. The buffet is not worth the price but is good if you want to be fed and not have anything special. There is a food court for when you want something quick. The bus stops in front. So, the idea is to have fun and relax and not look for every flaw in a property. You are sure to have a great time if you make it happen.

Older rooms, clean and comfortable beds and bedding. Can't beat the price.

Rooms are decent. Construction is moving along, steel is still going up, so I'm guessing it will be a while.
I'm here now with no complaints

Thanks for all the replies, my normal casino to stay was the Mirage, I loved the rooms and location, but got tired of the casino so I tried to change it up.

My 2 mayor concerns are 1. comfortable bed 2. Noise level (construction). Now that someone mentioned no WiFi, it might be a problem as I might need to do some work during my stay.

Again, thanks for all the replies.

    Hi there,

Monte Carlo used to be my homebase, but Aria is my homebase now, only because they give me the same comps at a better hotel. I still really like MC it's just I get better offers elsewhere. (Though they're really generous on backend comps, and still is one of my favorite casinos, very pretty.)

    Onto your questions...

    1) VERY Comfortable bed. 5/5 in my book. I actually PREFER Monte Carlo's bed to Aria!!!! I find it more comfortable, and prefer their crisp, sheeted comforter to a standard comforter with the top exposed (Aria), even with triple sheeting. How many people have rolled around on the exposed comforter top? And cleaning comforters is NOT an everyday thing for ANY hotel. Again, the bed is SUPER comfy, one of the best on the strip to me, and I LOVE, LOVE my sleep, and a bed makes or breaks a hotel for me.

    2) wi-fi. No wi-fi unless near a wi-fi floor, but you can a) buy a cheap wifi travel router, or just add a hotspot to your phone for about $10 a MONTH. "Free" wifi in room at $100 - $130 a night+, or no wi-fi for $40-$60 bucks (MC average) plus a $10 fee a month for a hotspot plan? Total bargain.

    3) not requested, but a bonus. One of the FEW hotels with a coffee pot in the room, at least last time I stayed.

I think it's a great place. The rooms are older, but very clean, traditional, dark wood décor in soothing colors, and the beds are great. My major complaint is a total spoiled complaint...I don't like a shared tub/shower combo with a shower curtain, and one sink in the bathroom. The shower curtain is something that really bugs me, as I have glass at home, not a curtain. Those seriously are my major crybaby issues with MC, and I don't think anyone with rooms under $100 give a separate shower/tub...(not even Mirage), I am just spoiled.

I'd definitely give MC a spin. Play some at Aria while you're checked into MC btw, Aria tends to send teaser offers after a few hours of play, so you might be hooked up for your next trip!

P.S. when looking at ANY moderate hotel, I go off the "pillow rule" in their pictures. If the have 3+ pillows in the pic on a queen, you're probably ok. If they only have two pillows on a queen in their advertisement? Run. MC has 3+ :)

Thanks for the peace of mind. I will try the Aria casino, the last couple of times I tried to play there it was too crowded.

FYI one more quick thing on MC, Mirage will be nicer on rooms, as they were more recently renovated. (Mirage was my home base before MC.)

But, I think MC is a great first step into that end of the strip, and yes, hit Aria, I am continually surprised with how generous they are. Enjoy!

    1. Bed is comfortable and firm, though the linens are on the thin side. Pillows are very soft and poofy though,

    2. I didn't hear any noise in December (to be fair it was the holidays and I was on a mid-20s floor) but in January I heard the "beep beep beep" backing up noises of construction in the morning (in a high teens floor). You can always check when The Park is supposed to be finished, they still had a crane there last week.

    3. Free (resort fee covered) wifi was available in both rooms and worked great. The signal was strong, and is also throughout the casino and restaurants. The only area where it fades that I remember is on the way to Aria.

    4. Bonus: The water pressure has been fantastic the two times I stayed. Valet and bell desk employees are extremely professional and helpful.

The rooms do have wear and tear on them, as everyone said. Chipped furniture, cracked tiles, buildup on water fixtures and air vents. Housekeeping overall did a decent job though.

With the proximity to Aria and the tram to Bellagio, you can easily do all your gambling and dining at more upscale properties.

We are leaning towards staying at the MC in September. All of this information is very informative. Last year we stayed at NYNY and walked through MC everyday to get to the tram. It seemed like a decent place and we did well in the casino. If the price is right in September, we will give MC a try.

Depending on how sober you are, the lobby either smells really good or really strong. But overall, it's a good hotel.

When you check in, politely ask to be placed on the 32nd floor.

I'll be staying at Monte Carlo during my trip in April. I'll be in a Strip View room. Can anyone tell me how those rooms are & how good the views are of the Strip? Thank You in advance.

It's a decent place. The rooms are OK, but nothing special.

One note, they are doing HEAVY construction on the new theatre at the southern end of the strip-view rooms. Whatever you do, insist on a pool view room, which will be opposite the construction.

I was there two weeks ago and the were laying the iron work for the theatre and you could hear it from the strip.

The view on the MC rooms are mixed. I can confirm however that they are clean, decent bed, WiFi in room should not be a problem but always worth bringing cable to connect to your laptop (if you need LAN to USB), standard size room (not small, but not large for the standard rooms). The view is a little obstructed but strip view gives you MGM and M&Ms factory. The high floor gives you a better view, and it doesn't really make any difference on the floors for the lifts (as there are a set of 3 lifts per floor section - and usually very fast - you'll be in your room from the lobby in less than 2 minutes without having to walk through the casino). The hotel has many convenience plus points (strip location near MGM properties, transportation, connected to the Aria by underground walkway, and Tram to Bellagio, Vdara), convenience shops across the street, and fast food in the hotel itself if you need to grab something and go (very very useful). Pool is "OK". It's basically a Hotel, and a casino on the side. It's what many actually prefer rather than walking 10-15 minutes to get to your room from the front entrance.

MC does need renovation. But for the price you won't complain really.

I'm currently interested in people's opinions on the actual gaming, and many VB and VMB have given me a greater insight.

I see from another thread that you should be at the hotel at a similar time to myself. If you are playing Craps, then if you want I can get your details and then contact my host to see if I can get you put into a Monaco Suite.
