    My Trip Report

    Hey VMB-ers!

I'm off to Vegas on Friday night - and needless to say, I can't wait. I haven't done a trip report before, and I've decided I'll be doing one this time around, so I've decided to get a healthy head start on it by posting now, so that any requests/guidelines/etc. can be communicated well in advance to make this an amazing TR.

    The basics are as follows...
    - Solo trip
    - Getting in at around 11:30 local time on Friday night
    - Staying at The D for four nights
    - Objective for the trip is to come home between $2k and $3k ahead
    - I have a few restaurants on my radar including Eat, 777's, Zeffirino (in the Venetian), and Crown and Anchor

As I write this, I'm procrastinating at work... so any commentary that would help me further procrastinate and let the time fly by to make it Friday already will be much appreciated!

First photos will start at the airport... also, can anyone advise if getting Tapatalk is actually any good?

Sounds like a good time. I stayed at The D on my last solo trip and had a blast. Will be following along. Good Luck!

I think you will find Tapatalk helpful for posting your TR and pics live.

Looking forward to following along. I'd go so far as to say that Tapatalk is almost essential for doing a live Trip Report. It makes it so much easier!

Tapatalk it is, then! I'll download it once I'm home from work.

Sadly I'll have no mobile data when I'm there... I feel like I should buy a mobile data roaming pack, but I don't want an excuse to be on my phone longer than I need to be. So I'll hop from wifi to wifi and keep you all updated :)

Yes, like everyone else says, get tapatalk. Makes posting pics much easier than the forum's default setup. Try to remember to take pics of fancier meals, pics of various Vegas locales including anything you'd think looks interesting. And pics of any sizable wins (~100X+ slot wins), premium or multiplied VP quads, good chip porn, etc. Good luck on your trip!

That's why Vegas is so awesome. When you win, you come away ahead. When you lose, you still had free drinks, comps, a good time - and best of all, a chance to have won.

I'm setting this particular objective because the enemy to every gambler is greed. It's relatively easy to be up... It's another thing to stay up. Small wins are the gateway to large losses - and I'd much rather walk away with $2k or $3k in my hand than go running after $5k. So I'm making that crystal clear to myself before I even check in for my flight. Down? Keep playing. Up? Cash out and go watch some soccer.

And it begins! Having a pint of Blue in hopes that it will descend my excitement for a bit so I can sleep on the plane. T minus about five hours before I've hit McCarran!

Now that's a perfect first picture!! Keep them coming! Someone hit $933,000 on WOF at the airport today.

Sooo, this is awkward. The flight was delayed due to "weather issues". Yeah, I'm sure. In Airline-ese, that's "we're covering up a mistake of ours by blaming it on the weather". Liar, liar, pants on fire.

The good part? They gave me a meal voucher which I'm currently enjoying (I'm getting comped already? Could be a good sign...). Additionally, they changed my return flight to a day later - so I'll get an additional day in Vegas. Now to determine where to book the hotel for Tue night... Any suggestions?

So at long last I'm finally here. Local time 4:16 am, but I slept plenty on the plane so I'm off to hit the tables now.

What appears to be a corner room at the D has a very nice view. However they only had smoking rooms (when I requested non-smoking, if you can believe it) - so they're upgrading me to a better room tomorrow when it becomes available. Plus waived resort fee for that night and $20 food voucher - no complaints at all!

Will be playing relatively low stakes right now just to get into the swing of things, so don't expect any obscene chip porn - that will come later!

Ahh, my apologies guys! I'd meant to post yesterday but I've been playing rather aggressively through upswings and downswings that I've been a bit "preoccupied", shall we say. Currently ahead by a matter of a few hundred - a fun trip so far all in all. Craziest play so far would have to be this seven-card 18.

On the non-gambling side, I got to build my own rather elaborate Bloody Mary at the Golden Nugget (below), and had a very nice meal at Andiamo last night compliments of the house, as they gave me some extra food and beverage credit because of an issue with my room.

Oh, and I got to meet Derek! He was sitting at the bar last night and I shook his hand. Really cool guy.

Overall I have to say I'm very impressed with The D, and this trip is going pretty well. Just waiting on breakfast now, then it's back to the tables.
