Casinos must be getting easier to score rooms with. I'm gambling much lower now that I'm retired and yet I'm getting room offers all over the place. My next trip I was offered rooms at Silverton, Paris, Rio, 4 Queens, Gold Coast, Red Rock, Golden Gate and 'M'. I only go to LV twice a year and my gambling budget is very small now that I retired 2 years ago (about $2,000/week). Some of these properties I almost stiffed on my last trip in Sept '15. I think they know that staying at their hotel increases the likelihood that you'll play there by about ten-fold. I have double booked rooms in the past but I find that if I book too many hotels I'm constantly doing the check-in/check-out thing during my vacation when I'd like to forget about such nonsense. This trip I have to cut about 2-3 of the properties off of my 'stay' list. It's a hard decision. They all have their positives. I figured out that if I do all of these offers back to back I could stay in LV for 3 weeks...not that I'd actually be staying that long. Just that it's a hard choice to cut places out; they're all so much fun!! Do any of you ever get too many room offers for the size of your trip and have to cut properties out? How do you decide?
Just because I get a comped offer doesn't mean I'm inclined to use it. Right now, the resort fee has to be waived for me to consider an offer. I look at extras like free play and food credits. I also consider room quality itself, casino experience and the food scene. And it needs to cover when I want to come, not dictate when I come. There's usually no value to me in double booking - it's more important to get the best bang for the buck based on my needs.
Talk about making for a nice retirement, congratulations! Comps are weird like that, you either hear of people not getting them, or getting more than you can use. I pick first on based on where I like to stay, and where I want the comps to keep coming. Then narrow down by total package (FP/food, etc.) That's how I decide. Enjoy, and have a GREAT trip!
Sure, the comped rooms are easy to get because they just need to get you in the door. And why not give out comped rooms like candy, after all, the Resort Fees make it so you are actually paying the room rate anyway. They are getting very created in getting money from you in more ways than simply gambling.
