Hi all, Have never used Resort Credit in the past, and have around $100 in EC on my Mlife Account.... This year, I got $100 Resort Credit (2nts) for the Mirage, $250 for the Monte Carlo (2nts), and $50 resort credit in the Luxor (3nts) , wife got $50 credit for her 3 Nights too..... Am guessing the resort credit can't be used towards the Resort Fee ? Am hoping I can get the fee's waived on checkout anyway But for the credit, can I use it say "for lunch or drinks by the pool in the daytime" ??? And in the Monte Carlo, can resort credit be used in say RoadHouse Double Barrel or Diablo's ??? And how do I use express comps ? can that $100 be used towards Resort fee's, or knocking food stuff off my bill on checkout ? Have always paid cash in the past in the hotels, which I now know I should have billed to our room!
I'm not sure if resort credit can be used to cover resort fee, but you can use it at any casino restaurant or buffet at any property. Same with express comps. We just always ask the restaurant before being seated if you can charge meals to your room. Any place you can charge to your room, will cover the resort credit. As far as Express comps, we do the same thing. Before ordering, we just ask if you can use your Express comps to pay. Most restaurants in the casinos will take both the resort credit and Express comps. I like getting resort credit because we can usually eat free between our resort credit and Express comps.
Correct. Resort Credit is only good at hotel owned restaurants to charge to the room. I always ask at check-in where I can use the credits and they always have given me a list or circled in a pamphlet with the locations I can use the credit.
Charge everything you can to your room. Resort credits Will take care of the charges Untill there run out. And this way you get additional tier credits for the remainder which you have to pay for. Resort credits are good for everything except retail and gratuities.
I used resort credits from Mirage and MB for charges from all MGM resort, not only property specific restaurants
I can't answer the resort fee question because my comp offers always cover them. But, regarding your mlife Resort Credits and Express Comps in Las Vegas: a good practice is to charge everything you can to your room, shows, dining, bar, spa, etc. A) prior to checkout ask your host or a host on duty at the players club to review your play to see what if anything additional can be comp'd beyond your original RC. B) at checkout, verify that the RC's have been applied to your bill. C) next tell them you want to apply your Express Comps (if you choose to use them) towards your bill D) any remaining charges you will pay for, including tips charged to the room. Note: You can't use resort credits or express comps for tips billed to your room. Yes, you can charge meals at an mlife property that you are not staying at back to your room at the mlife property you are staying at. (A few years ago, that wasn't permitted, but now it is). Those meal charges will be applied to your Resort Credit, then you can use express comps towards the rest. You can also use your express comps at the restaurant directly, just give them your players card and photo ID. You pay the tip. Mlife properties apply Resort Credits to your bill first, then they apply express comps if you tell them to. I believe CET properties handle comps differently - so always ask.
Always sign everything to your room and then just check your portfolio on the TV to make sure the bill is still zero. When the bill starts going up your resort credit has ran out.
Hi Stuart, FYI just a warning to check at each hotel on your RC's. Often Mlife will let you apply it to one property, but not at the next. (If I'm wrong on this, I'll be thrilled, as I have a good chunk of FP/RC on my second comped reservation as well, so I'd love to be wrong, but I've had it only paid out at my first hotel in the past.) Though, if the rooms are split under you and your wife's name, you MIGHT be ok, just check each time before charging a ton. On Diablo, you can absolutely use RC there, and it's one of our favorite spots! Just rememeber to check in with a host or the mlife desk before check out, as you CAN get extra charges removed on top of RC if you play enough, and MC is very generous with this. A great example of this is our last trip to MC. On our last trip I did my standard "mlife desk comp check" at the end of the night before morning check out (I'm NOT a morning person, so I do it the night before.) They waived all charges to the room for the entire trip, except tips. I then went to get my hubby and in-laws at Diablo. I discovered that they had about $200 of charges that came AFTER my comp check, as they were paying the bill AFTER I had everything comped. He was going to put it on his card since I had already done my "comp check". Instead, I had him charge it to the room, went back to the Mlife desk, and nicely told them we had one more bill that came after I had ran my comp check, and I wanted to see if anything was eligible for comps on that bill. They immediately comped THAT entire bill (excepts tips) as well, very, very generous. So, long story short, make sure each hotel is honoring RC before you spend, and like Geogran said, always hit the mlife desk or a host before checking out, worst thing that can happen is you don't get extra comps---it never hurts to ask! P.S. I strongly recommend trying the steak nachos at Diablo. I never buy nachos as they can taste cheaper to me, but these are amazing. They actually won "best nachos in the country" by Maxim magazine (and many other periodical give them praise, even local las vegas magazines!). The easiest way to use Resort Credit at MGM properties is to use it for a restaurant meal. Charge it to your room. The Resort Credit will reduce the amount of the charge, and you can check your folio on the TV to verify. It only gets applied to the food and beverage portion of the bill. For example, if you have $50 in resort credit and your bill is: $60.00 food and beverage $ 7.20 tax $10.00 tip When you check your folio, it should say: $10.00 food and beverage $ 7.20 tax $10.00 tip
