Heading to Macau in a few months and I was wondering if anyone had tips on getting comps there. I've received ferry tickets from MGM and food from Galaxy based on play. Any other tips?

Macau isn't an easy place to get comps, unless your average bet is quite large. To say it's harder than Vegas is an understatement. However, it is possible to achieve a hotel room at the Sands group by joining up with a player card, and then playing enough to earn 65+ points (to stay at the Holiday Inn, or the Sheraton or the Venetian - depending on points earned in a specific time period). I think you need to be rolling an average of US$200-300 per hand to make that in a few hours. A couple of hours play usually gets you US$15-20 food voucher. Yes...it's that tight.

To put this into perspective, when I play craps in Vegas, a big player would be playing black chips on the pass line, followed by green chips on the numbers. In Macau, with their one table (maximum) in only 5 casinos, a big player usually walks up to the table and plays US$1,500 per number on the come out roll......They have limited the max bets since the Galaxy was emptied out of HK$8m on one evenings craps session by an overseas player (and the table was then removed - this is all a rumour I have to say, but it rings true to me), however I was at the 4 Seasons Hotel which has a nice table at the Plaza Casino and someone there was allowed to play HK$100,000 per number. (that's almost US$15,000 per number).

Think that's big? The Singapore Marina Bay Sands has a table minimum of S$10 (US$7) and a maximum limit of S$500,000 (US$363,500) per number (pretty sure that's correct).

When you have your theo play rated, you will then attract the casino hosts that hover around the place. You can then usually request what you want, but the average player in Macau bets much more than Vegas.

What's your game for Macau? Baccarat?!

Wow, one hot shooter and they could lose millions at $350K per number. Be fun to watch though. PSO would be excruciating!

I have a very, very hard time believing that a) such limits would coexist at any table and b) that you could wager that maximum limit on a straight up number.

We're all gamblers here so there's no need to state the obvious - but just in case it saves you busting out your calculator, a US$363,500 straight-up payout would be US$12,722,500. Twelve million seven hundred twenty two thousand five hundred dollars. I want to believe it, but I can't.

I could see such a limit existing for even-money payoffs such as red/black or even/odd... but I've personally never even heard of anyone being able to bet more than the low thousands per spot, let alone the low-mid hundreds of thousands.

I loved your response. I also couldn't ever believe a casino would take that bet from a standard table on the floor. HOWEVER, you are assuming I'm talking about Roulette, when in fact I'm talking about Craps (and the odds associated with that).

The MBS in Singapore, coupled with the Sentosa Resorts World Singapore (not doing anywhere close to well), are said to exceed the entire turnover of Las Vegas Casinos already. 2 casinos. Now that's crazy. However, I've been in the Paiza lounges for the high stakes players. Oh my...is all I can add. As for Macau, they have many more casinos, and I think as of two years ago, they were meant to have exceed Las Vegas Casino turnover by 7 times? It's why I can believe that Vegas now focuses on other value added entertainment and functions. It's also why I can actually see why they would start charging for parking (Macau has no mass parking that I've ever see, but there's no need for it really. To bring this back to the OP's thread, it's why I think it's harder to attain comps in Macau. Of course they do it, but the people who do receive the comps have to put quite a bit of bankroll at risk to 'earn it'. Now...try and find drinks service in Macau generally.... in Singapore - it's really hard to find cocktail service and they charge you premium pricing if you are not in one of the more exclusive player card rooms.

Macau is nice to visit, and I hope the OP has a great time visiting the former Portuguese colony. However, for me, Vegas will never be beat. The depth and number of entertainment shows alone knocks any other casino venue 'out of the ballpark'. However, I live in Hong Kong and it's just across the water, but even that is not sacred...they are building a bridge to span a 30 minute car journey over the sea from Hong Kong to Macau. Ready in a year apparently.....

No, it's actually true. In bacc at the MBS limits are 750k and over (some ppl apparently play $1m per hand). It's 5k on roulette on a number.

Comps are based on a rolling system from what I understand from Nate and is basically a commission on your winning bets.

Highly doubt you will receive anything besides that if you even got that lol. Do they split one hand up to 6-8 times there in blackjack?

Do they play with tiles instead of chips? How large is the biggest denomination?

I'm sorry, but every time I see a comment about the 8 way split I can't help but think of that scene in Super Bad, when they are on the soccer field and Seth says to that one guy "Why don't you go piss your pants again" and the guy says "Dude, that was like 8 years ago" and Seth's response is "People don't forget!!"

People will never forget the 8 way split...

Largest I've seen in play is large circular HK$100,000 chips. Hilarious when you see them on a craps table next to my HK$200 place bets.

I've seen tile chips but they usually come from the cage, not the table.

I'm pretty sure I've done a 6 way split on Blackjack there. Minimum tables are HK$300 if you can find them (just under US$50), but HK$500 and HK$1000 is the normal minimum. I don't think i've ever seen blackjack in the High Roller areas (you would have thought there would be one table, but...all baccarat so far as I've seen in Macau). However, Blackjack...in Macau you'll be sitting next to someone who will stand on 12 against a dealer's Ace, and the same person will tut tut you if you pull a picture on your 16 against the dealer's 7. I don't think Book play matters there. You just have to shout PICTURE really loud. MBS in Singapore plays 8 deck blackjack in the high limit rooms. Just don't think Macau has the same feel for the game. It's all about Baccarat.
